This is a well known restaurant and we were a group of six. The atmosphere didn’t feel touristy and you could tell locals frequented the place. There was outdoor and indoor seating. The food was fantastic and after I was given the ‘local name’ of my dish we all enjoyed a road of hearty laughter as I cut into the meat and the juices spewed out! I will leave it at that!☺️🤗🤣. There was a little band that entertained the patrons and the environment was jovial, inviting, and spirited. Warning! Smoking is allowed inside restaurants so be aware you may have a smoker next to you. We did have a choice the night we visited to opt for an outside table. The evening was pleasant and we even had a nice walk from our hotel to explore a new neighborhood in Belgrade!

Very average traditional restaurant. The meat tasted a bit old. The traditional beans was cold..only the bowl was warm. The best was probably the free bread. Go somewhere else if you want better quality and more delicious local food.

Stopped here for dinner and went for traditional dishes. We had some appetizers (stuffed peppers which were amazing and pork cracklings). Then we had pljeskavica and cevapi, they tasted really good, but the portions were huge (as we learned later on, big portions are rather common in Serbia). Very friendly service, good prices, nice atmosphere

We went for lunch on a Friday without reservation. Very nice decoration, live music, nice serbian dishes, very polite waiters and good prices.

Recommended by locals. It’s a great place for a fun evening in the bohemian neighborhood of Belgrade. The food is good and you can find most of the typical Serbian dishes. The band is fabulous and puts on a great show. There is a lot of seating inside the restaurant to accommodate big groups.

Amazing, the food, the staff, the atmosphere, everything was exceptional. Would recommend to everyone. Meal for 2 was £30 and was a struggle to finish. Will return next time I'm in Belgrade

I have to admit I am sometimes wary about going to the most known / traditional places as wonder if a bit of a tourist trap However on this occasion, the service was attentive and professional and the food was tasty and reasonably priced as well. The red wine (by the glass) so delicious too! It's just so nice to sit on the terrace and soak up the unique atmosphere of Skajarlija and listen to the musicians from nearby restaurants 🎶

Another of probably the 2 most popular kafana in the area (Skadarlija, Belgrade), along with Tri Sesira (3 Hats- see my other review), Dva Jelena (2 Stags) has been here for ages & serves great, traditional Serbian food/ drink. Came here for an outdoor lunch on a mild January afternoon (15C/ 55F), after finding it fully booked both nights prior (DEFINITELY call ahead or visit for a reservation). Like Tri Sesira, English is spoken & an English menu is available. I had the traditional Serbian cheese pie (think Spanakopita, minus the spinach), grilled salmon (losas) with steamed broccoli, carrots & cauliflower, latte w/ a double shot of espresso, sparkling water, & 2 shots of medovaca (Serbian plum brandy mixed w/ honey to soften & sweeten it…strong stuff!). Finished with the sour cherry pie The food was good (sour cherry pie tasted a bit old, but wasn’t bad), service was friendly & in English, if a bit slow. Setting was very nice, eating on the outdoor terrace on a pretty day. Prices are high by Serbian standards (about 3200 dinar or $32 USD for my meal above in Jan 2022), but still very good for western travelers or others w/ stronger currencies. A good choice to visit if you’re in the bustling, lively, heavily touristed former “artist colony” of Skadarlija in Belgrade/ Beograd (White City) Serbia.

In my opinion the 4 cheese gnocchi were okay. The music was too loud. The other dishes were also okay. For the first time I tried Serbian slivovica and Serbian cuisine so I can't say much about it. And it's good that there were some vegetarian dishes.

Delicious traditional Serbian food, atmosphere brilliant, just very loud (as you have a live band playing when asked by your table), so if you wanna have a quiet chat/ night out, probably not the best place:).

Absolutely favorite place in Belgrad. We were there with friends 4 years ago and we had a great time with excellent food. This year we come back again with children. The food (Cevap and Pleskavica) was amazing. There are musicians there and making excellent authentic atmosphere.

Best traditional restaurant in Belgrade. They make the best traditional food in the town. You must visit this place. We went for lunch and it was amazing. The garlic bread they give as a starter was fanstastic. Definetely order meatballs with Kajmak.

Traditional restaurant on Skadarska street which has a truly unique atmosphere, especialy in the evening. Food was excellent and prices very affordable, pljeskavica approx. 13€ beer 3€. I especially appreciate very decent service.

Amazing atmosphere and heavenly food. The staff are extremely friendly and professional. To out surprise, a live band started playing, which made the experience even more extraordinary.

What an amazing place for dinner! I loved the atmosphere this restaurant had. We ate here for dinner and sat outdoors in great summer weather. The service was great and our server even recommended the amazing dessert we had. Food was great and delicious. Their meat platter and dishes are served with baked potato. Would definitely recommend ordering a side salad too. The dessert was one of the best things I’ve eaten. It was a baked crepe and we added ice cream on top. It does take an extra 30min to bake the crepe but so worth the wait! I will definitely recommend choosing this restaurant for dinner.

Legendary local restaurant that I definitely recommend to visit for those who is interested in local food and traditions. We particularly liked the atmosphere and music. Their musicians (rather extravagant gentlemen)performing songs right around your table is something that I read in literature but never experienced myself. That’s just creates exactly the right setting for a fun night out. As for food I would definitely recommend to try game and pair it with some nice red local vine.

Great evening in a great restaurant! Everything was over th top from the staff to the atmosphere. We had Gurmanska sa kajmakom, which was perfect. It came with delicious potatoes (not frozen ones) and garlic bread. We were lucky enough to experience the live and unannounced performance of a serbian band playing traditional songs! We were completely satisfied and will definitely return!

Lovely traditional Serbian restaurant with excellent food even for a vegetarian. We sat on the patio and it was very lively next to the street specially with the traditional Serbian musicians playing songs for us at the table. The service was also excellent and the raspberry Rakija was the best. It was an Incredible experience!

A lovely looking place. Looked historically significant. The meat was delicious and tender.. I don't know what it was. Pork I think., Someone else ordered for me. The cherry pie was very ordinary. The pastry was tough. Service was very good.

Highly recommended restaurant on Skadarlija street. The food is typical of Serbia. The place has a lot of charm. The food is excellent. First we ordered some starters (salad with cheese, tomato and cucumber and bread with pepper and garlic). Then we ordered a mear plate to share. For dessert we ordered crepes and chocolate cake. Everything was excellent. During dinner there is live music. The service is experienced and very attentive. A restaurant that is worth it.

Lovely traditional restaurant in the heart of Belgrade. Pleasant and accommodating staff will help you decide what to order. Decent selection of beer, wine and spirits. The bread they brought out, which goes with every meal, was just wow. Soft and sprinkled with rock salt and chilly flakes, with great texture. The meat was juicy, delicious and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. Thank you for the great hospitality, we'll definitely be back.

It’s an amazing place with live music. A lovely “kafana” restaurant, serving both traiditional and world cuisine. The service is unmatched in Belgrade 10/10. The food, music and ambiance is perfect. The price was well worth the service. I’d not go any other restaurant if I had found this earlier. Thanks to the staff.

Ate here on a visit to the Boho Quarter. Really nice place with good food. The highlight was the house band who come and sing at the tables, really nice guys and do a great job. There are three outdoor eating areas, one up a step, one up a few steeper steps, and one across the street which is on the flat ground but without any cover. The toilets are down quite a few stairs at the back of the restaurant and it’s quite dark so you really need to be careful when you go down.

Very otantic place in the heart of Belgrade. Keep in mind that ‘You should have a reservation’. The foods are over the average, prices are reasonable, the only downside is the lady who checks the reservations is not so polite. We were only 2 and first stayed on a small table for sure, than 2 ladies came and stayed on 4 people table. When we saw them we changed our table to 4 people capacity one. After that the lady comes and says that we should get on a small table in an unkind manner but the 2 ladies stays at a large table all night and no ones tells them to move to a smaller table. Also I don’t know why but the very inner side of the restaurant is so nice but all the visitors who has reservations are directed to the place very near to the door.

We've sat inside and felt as we went back a 100 years ago. Old radios all around us. The chairs haven't been replaced since they opened the restaurant. In general nothing I think 😳. You can really feel the atmosphere. We've had a good time and the waiter was nice.

Pretty tasty food, unfortunately the service partly does not speak English. Pretty expensive.

We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered and only wish we had room for more. The proja was so tasty and so was the table bread. My muskalica had a beautiful sauce and the braised ox cheeks were also delicious with flavorful mashed potatoes. And the ambience outside is quite nice where you can hear the live music. Only critique is that the beer was not poured to the top (just 2/3) and the white wine was not chilled enough. Overall, would love to come back for more.

Old restaurant, located in popular district, with very beatuiful interior. Food is good quality, classical Serbian dishes. We got served aside garlic bread, which was very, very tasty!

With a long tradition it's one of the best "kafana" in Belgrade. The food, atmosphere, staff, live music and service are all amazing.

Tasty food and decent service but, as expected, you pay a premium for being in a very touristy part of town. The strong smell from people smoking in the restaurant interferes with the joy of eating good quality food.
