In the cages lots of new born birds were dead and their parents seem sad. In the monkeys section, some monkeys look hungry because they smell decay fruits in their cages and try to eat it. they also did not have water. One chimp try to get attention to one staff while I was there. He/she try to hit the cages with the bottle for water but the staff didn't even bother to look at the chimp, he just grumbuled . Some animals are kept alone :( The place is really sad actually

Nothing but sad and depressed animals everywhere. This zoo should be shut down. It's out of date, over crowded cages not suitable for the animals. The poor alligator was alone in a concrete pen, animals more suited to open grassland, large birds needing open skies, big cats with nowhere to run. I could go on, it's one of the most depressing places I've ever visited. SHAME on belgrade for allowing this.

DON'T GO !!! Going to this zoo was a horrible decision. I went there as a student with a program with my school and it was horrible. There are animals to see yea but they where living in such horrible conditions that only crying was my reaction. Not joy not excitement. Nothing. Animals where in rll bad condition, their cages as well. They had put there artic wolves in a cage that normally would fit only one. Parents where taking their kids there to see these poor animals and grow up thinking that that's how it's supposed to be. imagine being locked in a cage able to only eat and have people laugh and shout at you. Highly NOT recommended. Hated it and will never visit a zoo again.

There are a lot of animals which I could not see in my country, but I rate it 3/5 because some animals are in too small cells and spaces especially alligator and hippo. This is very disturbing and sad because they need more space. I hope that someone from the zoo will read this and will think about this problem. One of the nicest zoos I've seen. Been there with the family, and the kids didn't want to leave. They have there many animals and of different types, some are even rare, such as the white tiger and a special kind of African's lion, which looks like a lion who had a hair fan :-D They also have a baby hippo which is super cute. The entrance fee is 550 dinars (~5 Euro) for adult and 350 dinars (~3 Euro) for child, which is not expensive at all. To sum it up, very recommended.

The three stars are because the primates enclosure resembles a jail and made me very sad to see them in there although one staff member was playing with one of them and because it’s difficult to photograph the animals as the fences have very small holes. I would suggest to give more space and light in s better habitat to the chimpanzee, add elevated platforms to allow for an unrestricted view and clean regularly the glasses.

These animals birds are some of the best taken care, that I've seen in many parts of the world. They are relaxed, well fed and their coats/skin is extremely healthy. A lot of work went into building habitat, like a preserve. It's located in the fortress which is pretty amazing in itself. Countless learning experiences/ stations, where art is shown, drawings for the lion festival competition or the pictures of the animals done in mosaic tile was really refreshing. Belgrade Zoo is impressive. As soon as you enter you can see a large elephant nearby and the adventure starts. Zoo is designed as a maze of sort, it's very large and can almost whole day to see everything. Kids can ride pony horses, and play in the baby zoo playground.

The only problem was probably no cafes, where kids could have some food (only drinks and ice cream), so be prepared and take something with you.

We had a wonderful time at Belgrade Zoo with our family. It is a huge and beautifully arranged place, where you can see a variety of animals from all over the world. We were amazed by the lions, tigers, bears, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, and many more. The animals looked healthy and well cared for, and the enclosures were spacious and clean. The zoo also has a lot of attractions for children. Kids had so much fun playing and interacting with the animals. They also learned a lot about the different species and their habitats. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the entrance fee was very reasonable. The zoo was easy to access by public transport or by car. There were also plenty of places to eat and drink inside the zoo. We highly recommend Belgrade Zoo to anyone who loves animals and nature. It is a great place to spend a day with your family or friends. You will not regret it!

To see a camel or a white tiger in the center of a European city seems the kind of thrill that we keep travelling for) The fortress & the dinosaur park nearby are a wonderful addition for an extended excursion.

One of the worst zoos I have been to in terms of animal welfare. The photo below speaks for itself, with a chicken looking injured and in pain (think it had a broken leg). Additionally there were grazing herd animals on tarmac on their own, a wolf in a pen no bigger than my living room with no pack, litter and rubbish in the chimpanzees, large birds in small cages who could do no more than a single flap, a single seal (again a social animal) by itself in a dirty pool that looked like a swimming pool with rocks in and 2 arctic wolves in a small, hot pen. These are just a few of the more memorable examples of a zoo that clearly does not have animal welfare and conservation at their heart. Ashamed to have contributed my money to its running.
