I've seen the billboard on I40 for a while and I like hotdogs and local joints so I finally stopped at the drive thru. I ordered a foot long with fries and cherry Pepsi as well as a Johnsonville bratwurst with spicy mustard and kraut. Dessert was something called cherry yum yum! The footling was not bad for brown weenie and the slaw was chunky but worked. Not a big fan of the chili as it tasted like canned Hormel or something akin to that. The brat was split and they are always good from Johnsonville with the mustard and kraut accentuating the flavour. The fries were straight cut and coated and were hot and fresh. The wild cherry Pepsi was good as it always is but the best item was the dessert! Cherry yum yum tasted like cherry cheesecake but looked like banana pudding using cherry pie filling instead...it was worth the visit and I'll be back for morw fo sho...

We visited Jay Bees Hot Dogs in Statesville after a day of visiting wineries near Elkin. I am a big fan of hot dogs have grown up near the Roanoke Weiner stand, so I am always on the lookout for a good dog. To me, that means a hot dog with chili, mustard, and onions. So we had to check out this place. We decided to dine in vs. going through the drive-through. You can tell that this place has been in the community for quite some time. The staff seemed to know most of the customers that arrived during our visit. We ordered one platter to share with a second hot dog. The platter comes with a dog, fries (we substituted onion rings), and a beverage. They are famous for their footlongs, but neither of us was quite that hungry. One to the dogs. We prefer onion rings to fries, and these did not disappoint. They were hot and tasty right out of the gate. The dogs were prepared the way we wanted. The chili was exceptionally good on these two pups. Now, this is not a fancy place. You should probably not be looking for a fancy place when visiting a hot dog stand. They first opened in 1980 and are still in business forty plus years later. This place was clean, the food was good, and the price was reasonable. We would eat here again

Nice place. Great fries. Would have given it five stars but the quality of the hot dog itself was lacking. It appeared to be a very generic dog and lacked flavor and the casing lacked snap. I was expecting better from an establishment that specializes in hot dogs. I would go back and give more of their toppings a try.

I love jay bees. Their food is great and service is usually always great. Except for yesterday. We waited nearly 50 MINUTES in the drive thru for our dinner. We didn’t order anything crazy. A foot long and 2 burgers. We are used to a longer wait time since things are cooked to order but this was a bit much. I could understand if the parking lot was packed but that was not the case at all. We have been coming to jay bees our entire lives but we will be taking a break. This really put a bad taste in our mouths. Your dinner service needs help!

Great restaurant, very old school feel. Footlong hot dog is very messy if you get it all the way fairly tasty they use a rather small hot dog hamburgers pretty good fries are excellent. Great small town feel in a bigger town area definitely worth a stop. The service is where they obviously shine I would imagine most folks here have been here for a while they definitely care about customers as I witnessed french fries laying on the tray as opposed to in the serving paper and one of the cooks caught it and replaced the guy's fries with ones that were not sitting on the serving tray.

Was drawn in by the "World Famous" sign on the highway; of course this is often a red flag but I figured, why not? Got the ballpark footlong and was very disappointed. $9 for a small coke, a very thin hotdog and some toppings that tasted like they were well past their freshness date. I consider myself a hotdog enthusiastic and I rank this one pretty low. Likely will not be back.

So, not only do they have a giant sign outside of the drive thru window now, stating to let the cashier know if you’d like to add a tip to your credit/debit card. The cashier also apparently just asks you straight out, do you want to add a tip to your card. Please, stop. I can read. So, last time I was there, caught off guard about the cashier’s blatant asking for extra money, aside from what Im paying for the food, I gave a tip. In return, guess what I got!!?? A long wait in the drive thru line (much longer than usual), not even a hello at the window before I was asked to give a tip, a Pepsi with absolutely no carbonation, and barbecue that does not even taste good anymore. Yay for me! Come on, stop asking for a tip before you even provide any actual service!!! If I think you deserve a tip, I will certainly leave one. Stop pressuring people into tipping. Not cool, Jaybee’s……..

This is another one of my "treat-yo-self" places. It's old, full of regulars, and you better be prepared to wait in the drive-thru for service because it's always busy. This is the first place I had a Carolina Style hot dog ("all the way") and I don't want to eat it anywhere else. Their hot dogs are split and grilled and Carolina style has mustard, chili, onion and coleslaw. The combo is perfect. Their fries are good too. It's clean and the workers are friendly. I definitely love coming here every so often. (P.S. When influencers do best hot dogs of NC, JayBee's is always on the list!)

I enjoyed the food and service. While I went through the drive through, The lady that was assisting me with my order told me I would be back. This was my first time stopping by. After I got my order, I went and parked in the parking lot to eat my food because it was smelling soooo good. I took pictures and showed my sisters. One placed her order. I went back through the drive through and when the lady saw me again, she began to laugh. I don't think when she said I will be back it would be that quick(Looool... I truly enjoyed my meal and my sister did too. I will be back.

Love this place. They are so busy they need to expand. My wife and I eat there at least once a week on our way to our daughter's house. Home of the world-famous footlong hotdogs 🌭

Not as good as I remember. My food was ice cold, and the onions weren’t properly chopped this time.

Atmosphere, people, and prices are great. Not the best burger and hot dog I’ve had, so that kept it from a five-star review for me. I’d go for fries over house chips!

Love this local joint! It's one of a kind and has been featured in Our State Magazine. My favorite is a footlong with chili and cheese. The homemade chips are great, too.

Went for a good foot long dog with some fries and onion rings. Kids got a double cheeseburger all the way and a smoke sausage. Food and staff were amazing!!!

The hot dog was pretty good but was kind of sloppy. My first time eating there but they could do better if they cut back on the toppings. By the time we got our orders, the buns were just soggy.

Best hot fudge sundae I've ever had, hands down. Most places skimp on the toppings but mine was generously topped with hot fudge and whipped cream. Honestly I've never had any food from there that wasn't good but this hot fudge sundae topped any I've ever bought elsewhere.

an item was missed when I received my order. no huge deal, sometimes things happen. I go in there to get my cherry yum-yum and I was greeted by the owner. He immediately says “well now you get two since you had to come back, does that sound good to you?” Of course. Their cherry 🍒 yum yums are DELICIOUS!! The owner was also nice to the man who forgot my yum-yum, he wasn’t scolding him or being mean. He made the comment “if this is the only mistake that’s made today then it’s a good day” and I agree! I want to thank them for their friendly service. I didn’t mind returning and I was never upset. I left smiling, it’s all in how you look at the situation! now go get you a cherry yum-yum, you won’t regret it! until next time. 😋

Amazing place to get cooked to order food. Hotdogs are awesome and hamburgers are awesome... order the 1 lb cheeseburger with your toppings.. you definitely won't regret it!!! The double dog date is awesome too. Onion rings tator tots fries fried pickles... Can't go wrong with fresh made to order food!!! And the milkshakes are awesome as well. They have Sundaes, dole whip, banana split, cookie dough twist and flavored milk shakes.

A true local restaurant since the 1980s and still owned by the same people. Great hotdogs. Worth coming off the road to check out if you like a local fun hotdog place with a very large variety of hotdogs. The hotdogs are smoked not grilled.

This place must be a local gem. Wasnt too busy when we arrived around 11am. However by 11:30am it started getting packed. Love the small-time place with awesome prices. Everyone was extremely friendly. I ordered a Number 1. World famous footlong with chili and slaw. Its not a black tie event. However, I VERY much enjoyed it. Light hearted with small prices. My pals all got dessert, which they all looked great!
