We
came
to
Staunton
in
May
of
2015
and
were
thrilled
with
this
park.
It
isn't
lacking
in
anything.
As
soon
as
one
enters
the
main
gates
with
charming
metalwork
they're
greeted
by
a
stream
that
meanders
across
the
park
and
helps
to
feed
a
lovely
gated
pond.
The
pond
houses
several
ducks,
geese,
swans,
as
well
as
Koi
fish.
One
can
purchase
handfuls
of
feed
for
children
to
enjoy
feeding
the
fauna.
Also,
a
glorious
old
bandstand
holds
various
events
such
as
Jazz
in
the
Park
for
passers-by
and
folks
who
choose
to
sit
and
enjoy.
In
the
summer
months,
there
is
a
terrific
outdoor
swimming
pool.
One
pays
a
nominal
fee
for
entry
daily,
or
seasonal
passes
also
may
be
purchased.
A
quaint
open-air
train
can
be
ridden
during
posted
hours
through
the
park.
In
the
summer
a
marvelous
outdoor
pool
is
available.
There
is
an
exercise
area
with
outdoor
designed
workout
equipment.
An
oval-shaped
paved
path
is
present
for
both
parking
and
exercising
by
riding
bikes,
jogging,
and
walking.
Towards
the
far
outer
edge
of
the
park
is
another
large
open
pond.
At
Christmas
time
various
churches,
businesses,
agencies,
clubs,
and
families
contribute
by
sharing
their
light
displays
throughout
the
park.
It
is
beautiful
and
festive.
Other
events
are
held
throughout
the
year,
such
as
art
shows,
and
community
meetings.
There
are
activities
for
all
ages.
Among
the
other
facilities
are
tennis
courts,
skateboard
and/or
bicycle
half
pipes,
an
outdoor
basketball
court,
and
an
18-hole
golf
course.
One
is
sure
to
be
pleased
whether
ambling
along
the
tree-lined
walkways,
exercising,
using
another
wonderful
part
of
the
park's
many
offerings,
or
resting
in
the
shade
on
a
bench
for
a
bit.
