We recently enjoyed a weekend escape to the beautiful La Chataigne farm. We stayed in the "Blanc" cottage. Beautiful and stylish rooms, with top appliance and all the amenities you can think of to make self catering a breeze. For winter a fireplace to keep you warm, and for the summer, aircon and your own private plunge pool. Magnificent mountain views and nature all around. A great spot for birding too. The Franschhoek village and restaurants are just a stone through away and easily accessible. It really was a spectacular stay and I highly recommend it. We can't wait to be back!

Absolutely worth every cent. An immaculate space, everything was pristine and well maintained. The view was amazing and tranquil, we felt very welcomed and looked after. Definitely returning for another longer stay soon

We stayed at the ‘Chestnut house’ for 4 nights. Unfortunately we did not like it. We are frequent travelers, and despite other 5* reviews we would definitely not agree. The Chestnut House is really basic, there is no luxury at all. Money for value is in our opinion bad: €550 for 4 nights in a cold cottage with simple and used kitchen, lack of tv, etc. But the worst is that there was an animal in the attic of the house making scary noises all night. It sounded like the roof was falling down at a certain point. When we told the owner(s) about this they said it was a farm and they could not help it, and that it must be a squirrel since they have had that before. We didn’t have the feeling that the owners took our complaint seriously. At least, even though the disappointment of the house, you could expect to sleep normally for €140 a night without an animal in the roof.. Next to that the roof itself is really thin, so if it rains you hear it loudly all night. At the end the owner apologized and offered a bottle of wine which was nice. However we would never book this again and this is our first bad review we have written in more than 10 years of travelling.

We had a wonderful stay and kept cozy with the woodfire furnace. Unfortunately the weather did not permit us to use the outside facilities & pool... Will try again in summer!

My boyfriend and I recently had the pleasure of staying at La Châtaigne in Franschoek, and we can confidently say that it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived, with the friendly and welcoming staff going above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. The accommodation itself is luxurious and well-appointed, with everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The attention to detail was evident throughout, from the high-quality linens to the thoughtful touches throughout. Of course, the real highlight of our stay was the farm itself. The views of the surrounding vineyards were absolutely breathtaking, and we had the opportunity to sample some of the most delicious wines I've ever tasted. Which we then stocked up for ourselves to take home. Overall, I would highly recommend these self-catering cottages to anyone looking for a truly exceptional experience in Franschhoek. The service, accommodations, and setting are all simply unparalleled, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else in the area. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so unforgettable! We will without a doubt be returning on a regular basis!

We had the most amazing stay at La Chataigne. The cottage was beautiful - perfectly clean, very comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and living area and gorgeous big bathrooms. The two outside areas were really lovely and we had some great walks around the farm. Danielle went out of her way to make us feel at home and we so appreciated her hospitality. We'll definitely be back soon we loved everything about this place :)

We enjoyed every second of our 12 day stay at this amazing place. We stayed in "Blanch" and everything worked perfectly. The decor was exquisite and the small private pool was indispensable during the day when the temperature crept above 30 degrees. The view in the morning over the nearby mountains was unforgettable. We love the place and will definitely return. Thanks to Issi, Richard, Julie and the rest of the great team for a wonderful stay.

Absolutely amazing stay at La Chataigne for our anniversary. Highly recommend Chestnut cottage if you're looking for a private and romantic spot. We will definitely be back and will give the other cottages a try too. All the cottages are beautiful and modern and fully equipped! We were there end of August and had rain and enjoyed our wine by the indoor fireplace which was just perfect and so peaceful! Summer will also be great as Chestnut has a private pool plus there is a large communal pool on the property. The staff and owner were also great! Can't wait to visit again. Thanks so much guys.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The cottages are beautifully furnished and the beds were very comfortable. The beautiful pool is a short walk from the family cottages with magnificent views. I loved the vegetable garden which is available for personal use. La Chataigne is very close to CT and Franshoek but one could be miles from a city - it was so quiet and peaceful.

This place is just magical. We stayed in the Noir Stable, and it just had everything you need. The beds were very comfortable, the facilities were great and the little vegetable garden was cute to get your own herbs and veggies from. A quick 5 min drive into the village is easy and Franschhoek is also perfect for a romantic get away. Don’t forget to taste La Chataignes Sauvignon Blanc! Thanks and see you soon :)

We recently stayed in the Noir stable cottage at La Chataigne. My wife and I had a great time enjoying the private and peaceful cottage. The cottage we booked had stylish finishes and a private pool. The pool was fantastic on the hot summer days during our stay (34°c). The farm location is perfect for a short trip into town should you want to go for a meal. If you're planning a trip to Franschhoek I recommend booking a few nights here. To improve on an almost perfect stay I would say I would love to see the owners gift a complementary bottle of the farm wine or welcome pack to make you feel at home when you arrive. From my experience at other farms offing this price point accommodation it is fairly standard and often results in me purchasing some additional wine on departure if enjoyed. Then lastly there were several hornets nest sites above our deck and this was a little troubling while trying to relax. While it's a farm and bugs are to be expected, if they could remove the active nests from this location it would have been more enjoyable.

This is the perfect little get away. The self catering units had all the amenities needed with tasteful interiors. We also tried a bottle of the Sauvignon Blanc 2017 from the farm and it was exceptional. Our unit and private pool had incredible views of the mountains and farm. We loved our stay and will definitely return soon ☀️

From start to finish, our stay was exceptional, as we entered we were greeted by the owner who showed us our stunning room, we stayed in the Blanc stable, the room was spacious, cozy and had everything we needed, we had privacy and the most breath taking views. I also bought a bottle of their wine, it was so smooth and rich in flavor Thank you for welcoming us, we hope to return very soon.

We had a great one night get away, for our wedding anniversary, the chestnut cabin was perfectly set up for a couple stay. if you are visiting i would recommend an extended stay to make use of the private braai area and pool. One little recommendation would be to heat the pool so that you are able to use it in the cooler evenings or during winter.

After officially tying the knot on 18th June 2021 we decided to take a few days away on a mini-honeymoon to just unwind and relax. La Chataigne was the perfect retreat. Beautiful accommodation, fully equipped for a night in or day spent pool-side. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Julie, thank you for an unforgettable weekend at La Chataigne, the farm is truly beautiful and the riverside cottage was not only spotless ...but felt like home from day 1. The pool in the orchards (heaven in that hot weather) and vegetable garden was my daughter's favorite, while early morning coffee on the back stoep is something I miss already🥲 we will be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The tranquility and greenery allowed for all the rest and rejuvenation we needed and were looking for. We cannot possibly fault anything but would like to recommend adding a little some extra to the coffee and tea refreshments that you provide ( the milk was just enough for one cup) and the coffee was not the greatest either. We enjoyed our stay despite this though. We will hopefully be back to enjoy better weather and a stay along the river. Thank you for a wonderful stay Regards Candice

Beautiful accommodation with great amenities and super attentive hosts. The Blanc and Noir cottages are kitted out with everything you need and the private pool is the cherry on top of this stay. The wine farm is in perfect location to the tram and restaurants. We are looking forward to our next stay.

Stunning accommodation and everything at a 5 star level. Most enjoyed our small pool attached to our cottage. Also close access to wine tram tour and Franschhoek village, both 5 minute drive. Will definitely be back.
