We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Akademie Street Boutique Hotel during our honeymoon. The staff were all very kind, welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay special. Our room was upgraded, it was incredible. We loved the whole decor and design of the hotel, it was beautiful. We had a log burning hot tub which staff got ready for us on return from our dinner. We had a lovely view of the mountains from our room. They recommended local restaurants and vineyards for us to visit which were all fantastic. The breakfast at Akademie was delicious with so many options. We stayed in a few places in South Africa and the breakfast here was the best! This is a fantastic hotel, there is a reason why it is so highly rated. We highly recommend staying here if visiting the winelands. It is within walking distance of the wine tram too.

Simply amazing. The big things are all well handled but it's the little things that made the stay incredible and memorable. Smell of the room, firewood ready to ignite the fireplace, softness of the bathrobe, kindness and caring of the staff, comfort of the chairs, and I could go on and on. Staying here in the winter I think might actually be better than being there in the summer. I wanted to spend as much time as possible in the common areas and in our cottage and happy we did. Staff seems to outnumber guests 3 to 1 and all are very helpful. The freedom to make your stay your own is something I valued highly. Want to help yourself to a nightcap before heading to your private wood fired hot tub? Absolutely. Poor yourself a drink. Maybe the best part of the entire trip I had in South Africa was enjoying the common room with snacks, a glass of wine, fire roaring and the piano being played beautifully. It was magical. I'd tell anyone that this is a destination in South Africa (not just Franschhoek) all on its own. Thank you everyone that made our stay so wonderful and warm.

This place is heaven on earth! Declan and the whole team did a superb job to ensure we had the most amazing stay. All the decor and the room we stayed in was stunning and have so much character. The complementary room minibar and evening happy hour was a lovely touch and where do I begin with their breakfast!? Incredible! One of the best places we've ever stayed at and we only wish we'd stayed longer.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Akademie Boutique Hotel and its difficult to describe how perfect this place is. We were welcomed by Declan and he and the team could not do enough for us. Preston went out of his way to ensure we had cocktails by the pool when we arrived and the rooms are perfect. Such attention to detail, you really want for nothing when staying here and the slogan "Home away from home" is spot on. Could not recommend this enough as we did not want to leave and will definitely be returning. Thank you to Declan, Preston, Christine and the whole team for making us feel so welcome. Look forward to seeing you again!

Loved this place. Beautiful architecture, rooms, and wonderful breakfast inside the beautiful glass house (lovely staff and best homemade granola ever!). Thanks to Declan, fellow Irishman who was so welcoming and hospitable during our stay!

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Katherine and Arthur are the warmest & most dedicated hosts. Our room was spectacular, big and with a sun roof on the bathroom that let lots of light in and great tub + shower pressure. Everything on the mini bar is complimentary, plus they had various nuts and chips which were helpful after so many wine tours. LOVE this place!

This such a gorgeous place! An old Cape Dutch building converted into a hotel. The ambiance is incredible. The decor fabulous. Our room is beautiful and has all the amenities including a free mini bar. A real sense of relaxation with luxury.

This was my third stay at Akademie Street and it truly feels like a home away from home now. I stayed in Twyfeling A on this trip, which is a spacious suite in the main house. I have chosen a different suite/cottage on each visit, which has proven to be exciting and refreshing but with all the familiarity of Akademie Street's consistently exceptional hospitality. The Akademie team has handled Covid protocols with careful consideration. A lovely care pack with mask and hand sanitiser is presented on arrival, my room was sanitised and sealed prior to my arrival, and staff wear masks at all time. While the cottages already lend themselves to social distancing with their privacy (and private pools), the rooms in the main house are equally comfortable and secure. As always, the complimentary mini bar (with delicious butter biscuits to go with delicious in-room coffee and REAL milk), nightcaps and breakfast were an absolute treat. I'm already dreaming of my next stay and which suite I will try when I do. This is by far the most special boutique hotel in the Western Cape.

One of the nicest hotels I have ever been to. Staff is attentive. Rooms are perfect—I mean everything you need and could think of is taken care of. The hotel compound is really neat and relaxing. The breakfast—amazing. I honestly could have stayed here another week just relaxing.

Can't say enough positive things about this hotel. We spent 2 nights here on our honeymoon, and the whole property was stunning and luxurious. No detail was overlooked, and the staff is incredible. We especially appreciated the complimentary laundry service, outstanding breakfast, and happy hour. Our room and veranda were so nice--it was tough to leave (even though there is much to explore in Franschhoek). Wish we could have stayed longer!

Quiet but in 5 mins walking distance from the main road. The attention to details of the interior was amazing, everything from the halls to pools was well designed. Rooms were always clean and well maintained, staff was incredible friendly and helpful.

This review I've done is replicated from what I said on TA. Had an amazing stay here with my fiance Sophie from 01 January to 07 January. We are from London and on our honeymoon. It was during the curfew and the alcohol ban but we still had such a fantastic time. We stayed in Gelatenheid on the 1st floor - such a stunning room we can recommend it highly. The room was absolutely massive with the mod cons you would expect and then some, plus the wood burning hot tub on the terrace. I gather most stay here for a couple of nights, which we were due to do, but ended up staying almost a week. The alcohol ban did not stop us from having the most amazing experience, if anything it made it better as we go to spend more time enjoying the hotel, accommodation and all it has to offer as we were around the place a little bit more than you normally would be. The pools were great, lovely temperature, padded sun loungers with towels and sun lotion. We had a few days where we just totally chilled there all day rather than going out which was very nice. The breakfast was great with plenty of options from healthy to a bit more calories! We had a bit of both every day :-) Staff couldn't do enough for you, booking places, giving advice, seeing if you needed anything. I can't remember staying anywhere in the past where every small detail was thought of - attention to detail was insane. Special thanks to Declan and Manette who made our stay so special while working so hard in extraordinary circumstances. WE WILL BE BACK - CHRISTMAS 2021 FOR HONEMOON PT 2...!!!
