Shakshuka on Bread My visit to Bootlegger Coffee Company in Stellenbosch introduced me to Shakshuka on Bread - a creative take on a breakfast classic. The dish started strong with an appealing presentation and a rich, spicy aroma. Flavor-wise, the Shakshuka initially impressed with well-balanced spices and perfectly poached eggs. Over time, however, the acidity of the tomato sauce became somewhat overpowering, slightly diminishing the enjoyment. The friendly service and inviting ambiance still made for a positive experience. Despite some balance issues with the acidity, it remains an interesting and bold breakfast option.

I’ve dine here before a few weeks ago and today as well. The service is great and very very friendly. The food is fantastic- the breakfast bun and the flapjacks were just superb. Also the hot chocolate was ridiculously addictive and had a full chocolate taste. The waiters take good care to spring clean every corner from top to bottom and left to right.

I like the aroma, strength and flavour of their coffee, however I can't comprehend why they serve their coffee in small cool drink glasses. About 50% of the time their coffee is served lukewarm which might be due to the poor heat retention of their cool drink glasses.

Their breakfast was stunning. The bagels were very fresh. The hot chocolate was thick and chocolaty. The staff is super friendly and keeps every spring clean. The service is also very good. Can’t tell a bad thing about this place. It’s definitely a must.

Quite expensive, but also such a lovely place to come have breakfast or any of meal in stellies.

Perfect for a date night midweek. great vibe,good food and even better coffee. Be sure to buy their beans to make delicious home made cappuccinos.

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Bootleggers in Stellenbosch. We had brunch and ate the flapjacks and chicken burger. We also had a great cup of coffee! The flapjacks were fresh and the chicken burger made to perfection. The restaurant had a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The staff tend to our every need and were so kind when they explained the children's options to our son. We have been back a few more times and every time walk out with happy smiles! PS: loadshedding was not a problem as they have an inverter. This also came in handy as I needed a place to work remotely.

Bootlegger's Stellenbosch is honestly my favourite restaurant for any and every meal time of the day. Service is 100: the waiters are extremely attentive and the Manager, Taswell is the epitome of professionalism and charisma, ensuring guests are always satisfied coupled with radiant aura that permeates the space. I implore you,if you're out in Stellenbosch, pay Bootleggers a visit - you may end up becoming part of the furniture like me.

My first coffee from a shop since this whole pandemic started. My husband & I were walking back from the shops when we passed Bootleggers COVID-19 setup (one counter for takeaway street-side orders, no sitting or “loitering” but a welcoming & aesthetically pleasing setup nonetheless). I had my usual black americano and it was really nice. I’ll definitely return.

I love the atmosphere at Bootleggers. The staff is friendly and well trained. The food is excellent and well prepared. My husband had the Bootleggers Breakfast which he enjoyed very much, while I settled for the eggs hummus and Avo on toast. Their banana bread is to die for. This is a Covid 19 safe space as all protocols were followed. We were also placed with ample space between us and other patrons. I shall definitely visit again.

Never bothered to go into this restaurant because it always seemed to busy. However after trying it on sunday I'm extremely impressed by this coffee shop. The place might be busy but there was no absence of waiters and staff, the service was excellent and the recommendations even more so. The food as you can see ranges from poached eggs to lovely pancakes. This is the perfect place for brunch or breakfast. I have long since eaten at a place that impressed me this much, especially when it came to the quantity and quality of food. I will be returning on Sundays from now on to enjoy the coffee and pancakes.

I only had the wheat/gluten-free date and pecan cookie as that is all I could eat being a Celiac and having gluten intolerance. Please put more gluten-free opon your menu...I spoke to 3 other people who are gluten intolerant and they say the same thing...all we have is one cookie!!

Great food, amazing coffee, good vibe. Great if you need to work, the waiters actually let you focus. The free wifi is plenty fast enough for my purposes. The pies especially are amazing! Real homemade vibe with plenty of meat. Some of the mocha’s in Cape Town, very creamy and smooth.

Had lunch here. The Green Omelette with peas and feta. And smashed avocado toast with poached eggs. Was really yummy. The staff is really friendly and speed of service is fine! Lovely idyllic place. Great spot to visit when in Stellenbosch and I think the best of all the Bootleggers we went to in South Africa (e.g. way more pleasant than the one in Camps Bay, CT). In general I would not recommend taking “oatmilk” coffees is you’re used to European style oatmilk. It’s makes the coffee very sweet. So rather go for normal milk coffees. Juices contain a bit too much ice for my liking but still good!

Bootlegger is my 3rd place. The place a go where I need a break from work. The mood, aesthetic and environment is very beautiful and calm. I start my mornings with a fresh cup of coffee (Flat White, the Baristas know my order by heart) before I see my clients for the day. The food and coffee is delicious. The General Manager Liam, Manager Andrea at Stellenbosch Bootlegger are exception at delivering phenomenal service.

Best burgers & gin on tap.

We had waitress who was 7 months pregnant and she was super friendly and helpful! The food is just next level! We waited quite a bit for it but it was totally worth it! Coffee, tea, burger on special, chicken wings and cheese cake costed us R200. That's amazing!

If you love coffee this place is a must! Super friendly & efficient staff, reasonably priced meals. And a great vibe overall!

Coffee great but your star of the day banana bread was stale and dry at 8.15 in the morning… feels as if you are selling off yesterdays batch as I have eaten bootleggers banana bread many times and this was definitely not freshly baked. Why not give rather give your leftover banana bread away to staff at the end of the day instead of chancing a bad review from a customer with indigestion…

Amazing coffee thank you! The waitress however seemed quite confused...do not know if she had too many tables to handle...as she was never really at our table. I saw the other waitress remind her of us as her table at least twice.

I like the atmospher and the shashukka was amazingly delicious. But the coffee was a bit too sour for me. I noticed a lot of coffee shops in cape town serve sour coffee. I guess it is their preference but not mine..😔

Came back. Great Service and great food this time around. Prices are extremely reasonable. Only gripe is that the door is left open and it was FREEZING everyone inside, but that is more of an observation than a complaint - so 5 Stars: Bangers and Mash were super.

Our service was not bad at all, the Waiter was friendly and helpful. However the first few things we ordered where not available. It is the day after New Years and I understand that perhaps stock is limited, we decided to rather order a burger. We ordered the normal beef burger, I am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed the burger was extremely over priced for what we received. The patty was dry and I even doubted if it was real beef. A Steers burger would of been better and half the price The experience was not enjoyable at all.

Bootleggers Stellenbosch have the most appalling service, notorious for getting your order wrong, lying about it, and keeping you waiting for longer than anyone would be comfortable with.

Great coffee with a lekker vibe. Music is a bit too loud so you can't have a proper conversation with anyone at the table without shouting at one another.

We visited in the morning for breakfast and coffee. The coffee is A+ and the food was A-. The atmosphere is cool and relaxed. The location is central in town and the service was good.
