My
recent
stay
was
my
second
at
DeZeven,
this
time
on
a
personal
visit
with
my
husband.
I
am
in
the
Winelands
at
least
twice
a
year,
and
have
stayed
at
numerous
lodges
in
the
region
over
the
past
decade,
but
DeZeven
is
by
far
my
favorite
place
for
scenery,
service
and
outstanding
R&R.
With
only
a
small
number
of
rooms,
highly
personal
service,
and
some
of
the
most
dazzling
views
of
any
accommodation
in
the
Cape
Winelands,
it
really
leaves
quite
an
impression.
Artfully
decorated
with
wide
open
spaces
and
sizable
rooms,
and
offering
beautifully
presented
and
prepared
breakfasts,
it's
got
it
all
for
the
traveller
that
prefers
that
extra
bit
of
luxury
without
the
pretension
that
so
often
accompanies
that.
Because
there
are
no
twin
bed
options,
it's
really
a
place
for
couples
or
solo
travelers,
so
also
nice
and
quiet,
but
complimented
by
a
friendly
and
attentive
staff.
It's
an
ideal
place
for
honeymooners
and
luxury
travel
couples
seeking
a
more
relaxing
venue
where
they
might
spend
as
much
time
on
the
property
as
off.
One
caveat:
with
its
location
just
off
the
mountain
pass
road,
it
may
not
be
ideal
for
those
travelers
-
particularly
first
time
visitors
to
Stellenbosch
-
who
might
prefer
ready
access
and
easy
walking
options
to
area
shops,
restaurants
and
other
tourist
attractions.
But
fear
not:
if
serenity,
scenery
and
a
spectacular
place
are
a
top
priority,
just
make
sure
to
have
a
car
so
you
can
readily
access
the
many
wineries,
restaurants,
and
attractions
nearby,
or
enlist
the
services
of
an
executive
transportation
service
with
the
help
of
staff
to
ensure
transfers
to
and
from
all
those
venues.
I've
done
both,
and
with
those
accesses
in
place,
am
now
completely
hooked
on
DeZeven.
I
highly
recommend
it
to
the
luxury
class
traveler.
