The first waiter that brought our menu and took our cappuccino order was really very unfriendly. I had the Java special burger and my wife the cheese burger, what a let down, it was dry, no sauce. Both of us did not finish our meal. We sat outside on the right against the window. We were there around 5. A short white waiter took our cappuccino order initially. A new waiter came to our table later, very tall young friendly colored guy.

CHICKEN STACK - Incredible meal! My wife had the chicken wrap 🌯 and was great meal for us and our friends. The waiter was friendly, but the true highlight was the quality of food. Thankful for the meal and the price was relatively good. Parking is a nightmare, but worth walking around.

Great vibe. The place was packed, but we were lucky enough to get a table. A large variety on the menu and the prices are extremely good. I ordered a cafe latte and the chicken snitzchel quesadilla. My husband has a Coke light and the chicken snitzchel with chips and mushroom sauce. I did feel a bit like the waiter forgot about us at a stage. I ordered a side of chips with my food, which I never received. Luckily it was removed from the bill before we paid. Also really wanted to try the chocolate brownie with ice-cream, but our waiter took quite long to return to our table so we decided to rather skip it. They were very busy, so that was the only complain. Great vibe, generous portion and very reasonable prices.

This was my 1st time at the restaurant. I came for my sister's birthday dinner Saturday evening. Sad to say I did not enjoy my meal at all, I ordered a burger and asked the waiter to make sure it was well done. My burger came out the 1st time raw, with chips, onions rings and a nice sauce on the side. I told the waiter about the raw burger and he took away my plate. The 2nd time it came back I still had the chips, onion rings, burger still raw and no side sauce. By this time I was a bit fed up so just nibbled on the dry chips since my sauce was gone. My sister then called the waiter to advise him that my burger was still raw and I explained to him that I'm pregnant therefore cannot eat raw meat. He looked a bit annoyed and took my plate away. The 3rd time the burger came back, no chips, no onion rings, no sauce and just a sad dry burger with a slice of tomato, lettuce and finally a well done burger with no sauce to add taste to the burger. Worst meal ever. And not to mention when I ordered my chai tea the waiter placed my tea at a different table without even telling me that it was mine. I ended up not drinking it at all because by the time we realized it was my order the tea had gone cold and I lost my appetite. Needles to say I wasn't the only one at our table who didn't enjoy their meals. Worst experience for my 1st time, therefore probably wouldn't go back...

We had a great dine in experience here. The food and wine prices are very affordable if compared to other similar places. We had each a main course, a bottle of wine to share, a dessert and a cappuccino/coffee. The food doesn't take long and is well presented. Friendly waiters and good relaxed atmosphere. They have different specials especially during the week. We will definitely be back.

I simply love this café. The first note I want to make is that this restaurant makes an effort to employ people who live in the area, some of whom are students. What a refreshing change! I've never once felt that the waiters that have served our table have been nonchalant or didn't have pride in delivery. The menu is vast, quality of food good and the prices fair for the large portions served. Sit either on the covered pavement section to do some casual passerby onlooking or inside the restaurant; both vibes are lovely. The chocolate cake is deathly and perfectly satisfies a post-diet craving. Their carrot cake is apparently decadent as well, so that'll be my next indulgence. Oh, and they make good coffee! ☕️ What more can you ask for? Consider me a loyal patron. 👏👌

I've had some good burgers here. That is the best so far. Pizza was food too. Decided to try something new- the chicken pie which tasted like black pepper and water. When we complained the manager did not attend to us and the waiter told us fhe pie had been freshly made in the morning (btw we were eating at around 4).

Bit of a wait outside (didn't really help that it was cold out) but was seated well. The ambiance was lovely. Having been a veteran of Stellies it was nice to finally see the revamp. Well done. Worth checking out definitely. Just sad my food was cold and the chicken tasted like it was boiled and then seered with a dusting of paprika, so basically no flavour. Safe to say my partner and friend enjoyed their food so that was great! Hence the 4 stars. I'd definitely try it again so not all is lost.

The food was quite good. The chicken curry and rice dish was not very spicy and the portion was just enough, I did not feel super full from it. Their chai latte was tasty, very aromatic. The basque cheesecake was not what I expected (there was barely any presence of sweetness), but I enjoyed it too. It was busy when we had lunch there so everything was really slow, it took a long time for our orders to get taken, for the food and our bill to arrive. The drinks and desserts arrived quite fast though, probably because we were rushing them.

I hear Java is a student favourite. We had a great meal, enjoyed a bottle of wine from the wide selection on offer and soaked up the atmosphere, in part created by young, happy students andcgreatly influenced by great service from our waiter.

Really nice spot, well priced and always busy. Great spot for breakfast in the heart of Stellenbosch. Good prices and a nice variety of food and drinks. I had flatbread and loaded fries (mix of potato and sweet potato) which was delicious. Portions are decent too. Great and friendly service by our waitress made it a good experience. One negative: the flat white came in a MASSIVE cup and was both flat and white, not what you'd want in a Coffee.

Gluten free is no problem! We had a lovely dinner tonight. I am a celiac and so i habe to follow a strict gluten free diet. The waitress gave me a safe feeling and doublechecked with the kitchen. I ate a Pizza (Smokey Jo, with smoked chicken, brie and caramelized onions) and a fillet steak with vegetables. My boyfriend had the braised deboned beef short rips with mashed potatoes and a great sauce. We highly can recommand this restaurant!

Ordered the soup and lemon meringue via Uber eats today, let's just say I was disappointed to say the least. The meringue was very sweet and had no lemon taste and the egg white was Grey colored. The soup was also cold and the order took almost an hour to arrive. I understand it's busy sometimes but that long for soup is a bit concerning.

A Saturday lunch with family. Quite busy but lucky to get a table quickly. Good selection of food and beer. Service was a bit hit and miss and saw some other tables struggling to get some service too. Still food and drink were good.

I had the Insanely Good Burger, which honestly was just okay, the American mustard that they used was a bit overpowering and I didn't really taste the chilli mayo. I asked for my patty to be medium, and it was more on the rare side, but this seems to be a common issue with restaurants asking how I would like the patty, so I usually ask for medium to be on the safe side 💁🏻‍♂️ My son had the Hawaiian Burger, he said that he really enjoyed it. My mom had the Honey Mustard Wrap (something like that, I don't remember the name), she really enjoyed it. She also ordered a side of sweet potato fries, and usually I like them, but these ones were underwhelming. The service was good, very friendly and helpful, Abi was great!

A trendy restaurant with a surprisingly well priced menu. Treated my niece and her fiance (from UK) to breakfast, and we all commented on the good prices - I'm sure the students patronize this eatery. My omelett was soft whil6my niece enjoyed her perfectly placed eggs and avocado. I will definitely visit again and recommend a visit for the cost conscious individuals.

I was pleasantly surprised by this corner café. We were warmly welcomed and had an attentive waitress. The menu offers cuisine for all palates … even my reluctant to try new eateries husband and son. The only disappointing aspect was that it was loadshedding and the pizzas were not on offer. Each meal was tasty with generous portions. The carrot cake could do with some improving. Worth the visit.

Very bad, felt in the way. New server accidentally sat us on a pre booked table, which she obviously was not aware of how the procedure work, and to top it all the manager and what looked like a senior waiter pointed towards us, pointing at the table we sitting and made us feel uncomfortable. We ordered two hot beverages, drank it while we waited for our takeaway and felt in the way. Our bill for a full 20 minutes came to R261, I would say that was a good 20 min on the table. Will never return.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Java Cafe/Bistro in Stellenbosch, and I must say, their burger left a lasting impression on me. This hidden gem of a cafe/bistro truly knows how to create a phenomenal burger experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. The menu boasted a wide variety of options, but my eyes were immediately drawn to the burger section, and boy, I'm glad I made that choice! The burger I ordered was nothing short of perfection. The patty was cooked to juicy perfection, bursting with flavor in every bite. It was accompanied by fresh, crispy lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and a medley of delicious toppings. The brioche bun was the ideal vessel, perfectly toasted and adding a touch of sweetness to the ensemble. I must admit, it was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. What truly sets Java Cafe/Bistro apart is the attention to detail they put into their food. Each ingredient tasted incredibly fresh, and the burger was meticulously crafted with care. It was evident that the chef takes great pride in their culinary creations, and it truly showed in the final product. The portion size was generous, leaving me feeling satisfied and content. The presentation of the burger was visually appealing, and the flavors were well-balanced. The accompanying fries were crispy and seasoned to perfection, making for a delightful side dish. To top it all off, the service was exceptional. The staff members were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also passionate about the food they served. They were more than happy to provide recommendations and ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of excellent. If you find yourself in Stellenbosch and craving a mouthwatering burger, I highly recommend visiting Java Cafe/Bistro. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this place is an absolute must-visit. The combination of delectable food, friendly service, and cozy ambiance makes it a standout choice in the area. Overall, I can't praise Java Cafe/Bistro enough for their incredible burger. It was an unforgettable experience, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Don't miss out on the chance to savor their culinary delights - you won't be disappointed! I had a wonderful dinner here, the most delicious smoked chicken and halloumi salad and a couple of glasses of really delicious Sauvignon Blanc. My waiter Thomas was super friendly and helpful. They treat their customers well - you can tell it's a good spot as it was packed on a Monday night. Highly recommended.

I ate on the corner outside and turned the chairs to face the street Parisian style! Fantastic lunch experience with phenomenal friendly service which was not overly attentive. Vegan pasta was 10/10. Prices are very reasonable.
