I think this has to be the best steak restaurant I have EVER eaten in. From start to finish, the service was on point (I was served by Andrei who was amazing) and the food was simply divine. I had a light calamari starter followed by the T-Bone steak which was cooked to perfect. I finished with a Dom Pedro dessert which completely finished me off! Can’t wait to go back!!

Pricey but excellent. Great atmosphere and service. Serve meals till 10:30 in the evening. The marrow bones with the steaks are great. Portions are huge. The braaibroodjies are unique. Worth a go. Will definately go back. They have a great selection of meals which are excellently prepared.

Ensure you book well in advance and hope that Fizzy serves you. The steak is amazing. Wonderful food, great service, beautiful ambience. Don't miss out if in Stellenbosch.

Quite simply the best steak I and my wife have ever had! I had a cut from the recommendation and she had a signature dish/steak. Both were 11/10. The venue is also incredibly nice. Clash establishment but you don’t have to be suite and tie. Service as you’d expect is incredible too. Very knowledgeable team of people there. Red wine was the order of the day and they had a huge variety. Amazing experience, unfortunately they’ve ruined every other steakhouse for us.

FB deserves 6 stars! We had high expectations having been encouraged to visit by family living in Wellington. Our experience exceeded out wildest dreams. Stepping into the venue is like stepping into another age - the decor, atmosphere and staff smartly dressed in chino pants, white shirts and leather aprons all contrubute to heighten the sense of expectancy.... The waiters are super knowlegable - each meat dish on the menu is explained by being presented as raw cuts when the menu is presented to the table - this forces the "casual" meat eater to consider cuts previously not known to him/her and the connoisseur to expand their horizons. Presentation is excellent and the side dishes are next level. The split marrow bone that is presented with every meat cut needs mentioning - what a fantastic touch and taste! I am waxing lyrical and have not even talked about the meat yet.... there is actually nothing I can say that would justify the experience - it is truly amazing. I urge the reader to to experience FB for themselves. Hands down the best meat experience of my life! It ticks all the sensory boxes. Make sure to book - otherwise you will not get in. Now I know why. (Pardon the lack of photos - I had other things on my mind at the time...)

What an absolutely fhenomenal culinary experience. Love the way the staff dress. Appreciate that our server switched to Afrikaans after he heard us speaking it to each other. Food is delicious and stylishly plated. Best ever steak tartare. Unique that meat is shown to you at the table; vacuum packed. Understandably that you have to book well in advance; do not bargain on being able to just walk in. Would love to go again and be seated in another "room" to compare.

Excellent restaurant with high quality staff, service and food. Parking is available opposite to the restaurant. We really enjoyed this restaurant and the experience. It is highly advised to make a reservation upfront, but we were able to get a spot after 15 minutes of waiting while drinking something. Highly recommended!

I happened to pass by and decided to try this place just before 5 PM in the evening. I was informed that it gets crowded after 6 PM, being a Saturday. As the high ratings in the reviews suggest, I was thoroughly satisfied with everything. Not only was the quality of the meat superb, but I also enjoyed the perfect grilling and flavorful sauces. The desserts were incredibly cute too! Since I had already visited a winery and indulged in wine there, I didn't order any here, but I saw an impressive cellar, so I look forward to trying their wines next time.

Excellent food, lovely restaurant! We even had a storytelling about the origins of the meat that they serve and detailed explanation how every different type of steak is prepared in their kitchen. I can only comfirm that the chosen steak was delicious and tasty.

My wife and I have been wanting to go here for ages and we finally got round to it for our anniversary dinner. The setting was top-notch with excellent food and service to match. Some of the best steak I have had in a long time and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend but make sure to book in advance as it is very popular.

Kurt was the most fantastic waiter, our gateway into the stunning world that is Fat Butcher. His charisma and charm made us not want to leave, ever. He explained the meats, the meals, the details of green peppercorns and shiitake mushrooms. I could hardly stop myself from drooling. My son and daughter thoroughly enjoyed the terrific and phenomenal dining experience. My wife loved it too, and a happy wife is a happy life.

Good atmosphere and ambiance. Great decor. Friendly and very helpful staff. The waiter had great knowledge of all items on the menu including wines. Great to average food, depending on what you order and your own tastes. All menu items are unique and provide an overall unique experience.

One of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. Excellent quality, cooked perfectly, delicious sides. I particularly liked the bone marrow as an extra. Service was great as well, very friendly and quick.

Love this place. Food is always amazing; especially the steak with marrow bones. Had great service today and can’t wait to go back. Would definitely recommend having their signature steaks, snails and burrata. Unfortunately forgot to take photos of the main course but it looked as good as it tasted!

best steaks in stellies. on the pricier side but worth it for special occasions. can do corkage. the courtyard is lovely for the day or warmer evenings and the room at the top is ideal to book out for a private party.

As good as it gets, great food and service. Had a fantastic fillet and sirloin both perfectly cooked. All the sides and sauces complimented the meat, which rightly so, is the star. The service was fantastic and very attentive.

If I could I would rate this place 100 stars. Best carpaccio I’ve ever had in my life. The champagne was amazing. And the steak was amazing. Service is superior and great atmosphere. Really, really recommended restaurant. Safe to say that it’s the best restaurant in Stellenbosch by far.

Had the most delicious lunch with excellent service from Ian! I had the lamb lumb with sweet potato fries. The lamb was so tasty and succulent. The sweet potato fries were so divine as well. Will definitely recommend both! What topped the whole experience was the service from Ian. He was very polite and extremely attentive, keep up the 5 star service Ian!!!

I went to Fat Butcher last night for my daughter's 21st bday dinner. What a great experience. Amazing food, best steak ever. And the service was absolutely top notch. Our waitress was Fizzy and she was friendly, efficient and just an all round amazing waitress. I would definitely recommend Fat Butcher anytime. Well done!

Quite simply, the finest, most sublime steak I've ever had. Came across this place by chance, and boy did the team deliver! Innocent was spot on with his recommendations for wood and wine pairings, the food was off the wall good, and the service outstanding. Would come back here in a heartbeat. Superb!
