Excellent local boozer owned by legendary Bristol based artisan brewery Bristol Beer Factory. Excellent range of their beers and other draught beers as well as fridge full of other bottled beers. The Milk Stout was really good. The butternut squash, mac & Triple Cheese was delicious too. Great, fríendly service and good atmosphere in traditional city Public House. It's on the Bristol Bath cycle track. Also a short walking distance from Bristol Temple Meads Train Station.

Small and simple pub tucked away in the midst of some residential area near the train station. Enjoyed the IPAs and chicken tenders outdoors with some sun and breeze.

Good cask ale and a Sunday roast to go with it. The venison was especially good. Pity I opted for the beef, which was still perfectly fine, but next time, I will definitely be more adventurous.

Sweet beer selection, and great food. Highly recommend on the way to the train station and just off the end of the cycle path. Great vibe too!!

Great pub with a brilliant selection of real ale. The staff were happy to suggest and describe flavours and taste and the drinks were awesome. However, the pictures attached are the £7.50 chilli beef fries. Description vs reality here was somewhat disappointing at this price, especially the sweaty slab of non melted cheese and lack of jalapenos. The drinks and bar staff were amazing though.

Really tasty veggie roast dinner! The "strudel" and all the veg was delicious. They offer several meat and vegetarian roasts (and a vegan option). We had a few different meals between us and all enjoyed :)

One of the best pubs in Bristol. Excellent beer selection, low key atmosphere, quiet street near Temple Meads Station and the Railway path to Bath. Absolutely outstanding Sunday roasts.

I've had many happy visits to this pub over many years and have been happy to pay city centre prices for their beer, because of the selection offered. Service has only ever been adequate and after tonight's visit i must finally comment that the food is always (historically) an overpriced disappointment (apart from the Sunday roast which is an overpriced pleasure) and I won't be fooled again, 🎸🎶 ☹️. 3 stars because of my fondness for the place despite my constant disappointment.

It was okay. Why though, would they serve your dinner on a plate that is not that much larger than a saucer? The fries fell off on to the table and floor. The size also made cutting the burger using knife iffy. Talking of which, the burger was nothing you couldn't get any where else. Not sure I would go back soon, the food was, well same old same old. People though, yes, really good and nice. I did find the tables too close, with other customers bottoms getting too close to me as I was eating, while they maneuvered around . That was not great.

Very good selection of beer friendly knowledgeable staff, unfortunately the roast lamb was very disappointing, it was like eating a kebab leftovers with added gravy. Don't have the lamb it comes in a rosti circle of dried ends, wish I had had beef.

Excellent "local" pub, good range of beers with a kitchen too. Small beer patio out back and lots of tables out the front.

Recommended Everything a pub should be, friendly relaxed atmosphere, knowledgeable and helpful staff, and a huge selection of drinks, many being local brews. I met friends there on a surprisingly busy tuesday evening (quiz night) enjoyable.

Visited the Barley Mow several times on a recent trip to Bristol as it became the "holiday" local. Great selection of beers, friendly vibe and a fun quiz on Tuesday evenings. The burgers are amazing and if you are doubting peanut butter and kimchi in a burger just go for it bc it is to die for.

Hands down one of the best roasts in Bristol! Was here just the other Sunday and managed to book a table for myself and some friends. The food was superb and the sides are a must (the leeks are *chefs kiss*). You know it’s a great pub if all the seats are full and everyone’s got a big ‘old dinner in front of them… they’ve even got the fire going so you feel like you’re at home! I would recommend ringing to book as spots fill fast but if you’re lucky enough to grab a spot then you’ve struck gold 🏅

Until yesterday I would have agreed with the five star reviews for the food and Sunday roasts. One of my favourite pubs in Bristol, the food has always been tasty and generous, with a bar serving finely kept, excellent beer. Yesterday, 9 October, I booked a table with a friend, ordered the lamb sunday roast and after a long wait, the food arrived. It was odd. The extra we paid for cauliflower cheese was a very small dish and had obviously been sitting under lights for a long time, coated with a tell-tale film and was barely warm. We had a tablespoon of cauliflower cheese each. The main event had decent roast potatoes, but the rest of the veg was a sort of carrotty cabbage mix. The Yorkshire pud was small and soggy (gravy was in a separate jug as requested so it wasn't that) and the lamb was very sparse: a few chunks and bumps of lamb scattered over the cabbage mix. I'd been telling my friend how good the food at BM was so this was hugely disappointing. We weren't asked if everything was okay. My friend didn't want to make a fuss but I should have mentioned the small amount of meat for what we paid. I heard at the bar that there were a lot of 'walk-ins' and so it felt that the food was running low in the kitchen. I asked at the bar before I ordered if there was enough lamb and was told there was. I don't see the point of booking in advance in this case if you can't cater for those who have. We both left hungry and disappointed...ended up sharing a pizza a little later in a pub close by. The two stars are for the beer, the spuds and the bar staff but I will hesitate before choosing the BM for Sunday roast in the future.

What a lovely little pub selling real ales and amazing home cooked burgers. Onion rings ate scrummy too. Friendly bar staff - next time we'll try the spicy coleslaw 😉

Great choice of beer and a few vegan options to choose from on the menu. Enjoyed sitting outside in the beer garden with a vegan burger and beer with my book. Friendly and helpful staff too.

A great craft beer Pub, operated by Bristol Beer Factory and ably assisted by an excellent rotation of guest breweries and Jimmy's Kitchen. Personally, my favourite part of the pub is the interior but, for those who prefer the outside, there's a tucked-away garden as well as an Al fresco zone. Beer lovers of Bristol - enjoy!

Hopefully a temporary glitch. Visited today after many other visits , all seemed a bit grubby, toilets like they'd not seen bleach for a week. Beer not as good as usual, barman pretty disengaged. Hope to post a five star again next time

Decent traditional looking backstreet pub with a good selection of cask and keg beer and nice looking small menu of sides and mains, the type of food you want to eat whilst drinking. Good atmosphere and the night I went they had a quiz on.

Attended for a lovely Sunday lunch, with all the trimmings, fresh veg and Yorkshire's. There are parking restrictions, but it was Sunday so no parking restrictions applied. Good beer, low alcohol beers, and tasty cider.

Beautiful selection of beer, lovely pub food. Downside is the chips on top, rather than being included with the burgers but oh well! Well done Bristol Beer Factory, my favourite cask brewery!

Loved this place. A friend and myself were recommended this place from another pub. And they didn't lie. What a place great atmosphere good local beer and we even had the best German bratwurst since being in Hamburg. Ashley was great to chat to and had amazing knowledge on the local beers and which went best with our food and did not disappoint. Will be back again. 😁😁

What a most excellent pub. Lovely fire. Lovely staff. Chilled vibe. I think the Dings is lucky to have such a pub. Sounds like the Sunday roasts are popular as the recommend booking for this.

I don't usually write reviews but this time I'll make an exception. Good Sunday Roast, acceptable flavor. Totally insufficient chicken ration, I commented to the establishment and they answered me "It is what it is". Don't order chicken, it's not worth it. The portion of beef or pork better. Terrible customer service. I will not come back

Always a good atmosphere, and a great selection of ales - mostly from the Beer Factory in Bedminster (which owns the pub) but also from further afield. Some decent ciders too. On my last visit, I treated myself to some halloumi fries, which were perfectly sliced and wonderfully crispy, and my first ever curry wurst which was absolutely KNOCK OUT! It was my first ever curry wurst and by Job I'll be having it again. The sausage and the sauce were just incredible. There is plenty of seating out the front, and lots more out the back - the courtyard garden is lovely in the summer, with some shade for those who prefer it. Honestly, the Barley Mow is one of my favourite pubs in Bristol. Plus - they have even started showing the rugby (Six Nations currently) on a massive screen at one end of the pub. There was a really healthy, loud but good-humoured crowd watching the match.

15.50 for roast lamb. Barely any meat and finely chopped veg. Yorkshire wasn't bad, but this place has gone down hill in regards to the Sunday lunch. Another example of a pub that thinks they can charge 15 quid for a very average Sunday lunch.

I love this bar - great staff, great beer, friendly service and they allow dogs. After a wonderful afternoon of drinks we came back the next day for a delicious sunday roast. They had a cozy fire going and we even brought out dog with us. Best part? Unlimited yorkshire pudding.

This was a lovely country pub, well known for it's real ale which was indeed excellent! The gentleman behind the bar was knowledgeable and friendly and we chose four ales and stouts which were delicious. We ordered from the menu on the board a starter of Black Pudding bites which were very good, followed by crispy chicken burgers, one with and one without a bun, they came with chips and salad. A cheeseburger with chips and salad, fish and chips which were lovely. All the food was great, presented well and in a timely fashion.

Popped in because I had a lunchtime deal that includes a soft drink. They kindly allowed me to upgrade to a beer for a little more. I'm glad this was possible because the pint of Yonder is one of the best sours I've ever had. Food was simple, tasty and high quality. Service was great. Lovely pub that I will be making more of an effort to get to in future.

For me, was the best pub from my trip to Bristol. Has a great choice of craft beer, the staff its all so damn nice and the food it's delicious.. Its a cosy pub, and in the winter with the fireplace, it's the best place for a drink after work. There is a quiz at Tuesday night starting ate 8 pm, and board games for the rest of the week.. • 3/5 Dave K. 4 years ago on Google
The establishment was generally nice with helpful staff, however my low rating mainly rating the sunday roast we had. If you're merely going for drinks it is a recommended place with many local ales to choose from The roast wasn't awful, but with the veggie options starting at £11 going up to £14 for a beef roast (what I ended up going with) the dish was incredibly mediocre. The beef, while cooked rare was tough to the point that our knives were barely cutting it. The roasties and Yorkshire was tasty along with a nice gravy, but it's definitely a more contemporary take on the traditional roast replacing the peas and broccoli with cabbage and cauliflower.
