Brief overnight stop on the way from Leeds to London. London hotels stupidly expensive, so staying at Stevenage more economic. Stevenage itself is less than inspiring but the Holiday Inn Express is conveniently located for the railway station. Not a lot around the hotel so I arrived and ate at the hotel. The menu is limited but the prices are on a par with other hotel chains. The room was a twin room, 2 single beds, desk, the usual TV and tea coffee facilities, ironing board and iron plus an oddly laid out en-suite where opening the bathroom door closed the entrance to the toilet. The room also had a locked door half way down one wall which presumably corresponds with an identical feature in the adjoining room allowing two rooms to be interconnected if both occupants agree which is a clever detail I hadn't seen in other budget hotels. The room was clean and well prepared although smaller than I have experienced at Premier Inn it us nevertheless plenty adequate and the included breakfast was plentiful. I don't think I've used Holiday Inn Express before but I think they'll be added to the list if budget hotels to use after thus experience

I stayed at this hotel due to a fire in my own property and I must say that I was so happy with the level of service and how helpful and empathetic the staff are! The rooms are clean and fresh so have no issues there at all! In particular I'd like to say thank you to Ellie who intervened with my insurance Company as they caused a lot of problems for me and she was amazing at dealing with the mess they made for my booking. Thank you Ellie! Incase you are wondering I'm with Admiral who are the worst. Never been treated so badly! The holiday in express made my stay very pleasant!

Cracking little place 2 minutes off the A1. If you're heading back from London to the North and need to get your head down, I highly recommend it. Reception were really welcoming at 1230am when we arrived. Rooms were really clean. Beds were comfy. Me and my dad had a twin room with single beds. Can't fault them. Breakfast was great, help yourself buffet. Will definitely be the place to stop when the circumstances call for it.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The toilet smelled like it hadn’t been cleaned properly as it smelled like a public toilet/stale urine which wasn’t very nice. The breakfast is very basic and not much choice available. Other than that, the location was good for where we needed to go.

A very basic hotel with a decent breakfast. There's no parking on site and the parking lot (at Asda) is under a pedestrian underpass. It didn't feel like the most safe area, so it was a bit uncomfortable and walking over at night. The service, however, was lovely, and the room, while outdated, was clean and comfortable.

Rooms are good size. there are some issues. in shower water was blocked. Toilet flush wasn't working fine. parking you need to pay £5 for 4 hours which is starts morning 8am and make sure you display ticket before as I have seen the guy came right 8am to put the fine on. night is free parking.£11 for 12 hours I guess

I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express during a holiday trip with friends around Stevenage. Room was in a nice condition, spacy and breakfast had some good vegetarian options for us. Friendly personal too for a decent price. Will come back!

Parking is free over night but you have to download pay to park app. Then it charged £3 for 45 minutes 😐 The beds gave me an ld my husband a bad back. The rooms are clean and the breakfast of adequate considering it's included in the price. You can do takeaway of you are in a rush or others are still in bed.

ago Nice hotel basic hotel. Parking is at the local Asda and you pay £5 to the receptionist. You can see the hotel from the store and you get there via path and subway. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was a bit outdated but again it was clean. My only negative was that there were no plug sockets near the bed. I have medical equipment that I need at night. I had to stretch my lead across the room. Continental and cooked breakfast was included which was adequate 1

Hotel was clean and rooms where spacious. Staff where brilliant and extremely friendly. Location is OK and was quiet for a Saturday night which is a bonus. Breakfast was good considering its a buffet, was all hot and tasty. The only downside was the 24 hour menu. We ordered due to only getting back from our event at 1am and was looking forward to the hand stretched pizzas we ordered for £11+ each however it seemed like it was an iceland pizza. Was OK but not worth the price. Other than that our stay was great. Good night sleep so can't complain.

Nice staff but room was dire. Absolutely reeked of wet dog and the smell never went away even with the windows open. Bathroom stunk of smoke. Stains all over floor and surfaces. TV did not work. Open wiring in room. I've stayed in nicer places for cheaper.

It certainly helps to understand the parking before arrival. They currently have a deal with Asda, Monkswood Way, SG1 1LA, just a 3-5 minute walk through the underpass. If you park over the back right hand side of the store, you will be close to the underpass. It's £5 for each 24 hours payable at the hotel when you check in. You can then come and go as you please in the car park. You can actually see the hotel from some parts of the car park. There is parking outside the hotel on the street and depending on arrival and departure times, may suit some better. We had a terrific stay here from the excellent check in by the efficient friendly Ellie to departure. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a Holiday Inn Express.

First time using a hotel and I don't think I will ever use this one again. Lets start with the positives. The shower was great, easy to use and of good quality. The breakfast was nice. Thats about it. The negatives include, the bed, heating, staff, light and cleanliness. The bed was too small. Im around 5'10 and found that the pillows were digging into my shoulders and back. Couldn't slide down in bed because my feet would be out. It only dawn on me in the final morning that it was better with no pillows. Now my back is in pain and due to lack of sleep, im not feeling well. The heating was a strange one because the heater is above the door and the door has a gap at the bottom so all the heat escaped before being in the room. Never felt the heater work once. This gap is also what caused the light issue. The room was dark with the blackout curtains but the gap let light in from the corridor defeating the purpose of blackout curtains. As i mentioned early, this was the first time using a hotel. I didn't know the card turned the lights on so I went to the desk to let them know I couldn't get the lights on. I was laughed at by the staff member before being told. With it being my first stay at a hotel, i wanted to see how clean it was. Their was dust on the top of furniture, the floor had noticeable stains (it looked like they tried to remove them but were still visiable). Their was a bit of paper under the bed. Edit: This is a response to your reply. How do you know if a member of staff laughed when you do not know who it was or when? Nor were you there. I can assure you I was laughed at because when I went down to the desk I said the lights wouldn't come on and he smirked. He then repeated "the lights won't come on" in a condescending way multiple times before I told him I had never used a hotel. The smirking didn't stop while he told me how to use it. I would love to hear back as to how you can smirk at a customer and speak to them in a condescending way and not consider that laughing at one of your customers. That fact you deny it without knowing is astounding.

Nice cheap hotel only £49 for the night including breakfast which was brilliant. If you come at the weekend there's 6 parking spaces outside the hotel which is free. There's a good pub around the corner with Cheap beers and good food.

Very pleasant stay all of the staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and clean, shower is powerful, TV & WiFi work well and the complementary breakfast is superb! All within a 5 minute walk to the train station & town facilities. I would definitley recommend and visit again in the future.

For what it is, it was brilliant - as advertised! Clean and welcoming. Very friendly staff, and a nice gratis breakfast - something there for everyone! Room was spacious with all you'd need, from ironing to tea/coffee-making facilities.
