I went here to check for myself as I heard that this place is super expensive and a tourist trap, I can confirm it is true. I. I am very disappointed not only did they not display any prices but the stuff has a not so pleasant attitude when you reaction the price and questions the price. One small bottle of water costs 42 sek when you can by the same for 15 sek and normal coffe Amercano 55 sek the normal price is about 45 sek a piece of chocolate cake 89 sek normal price somewhere else will cost sek about 69 sek. I'm disappointed 😞

This is my first negative Google review and it rightly goes to Café Valvet. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are no price tags and you are in for a rude shock when the cashier keys in the total amount. Look at my attached receipt and judge for yourself if it's reasonable. Secondly, it is absolutely false that they have "the best hot chocolate" in town. The hot chocolate was medicore at best, and a total scam at 85 SEK each. Thirdly, the waitress wanted to clear our table about 20 min after we started eating and obviously still have not finished. She looked irritated when I told her that we were not done. Lastly, there is only one toilet in the crowded establishment which was not well maintained. Consequently a long queue was formed. Forget about doing your business here if you're mobility impaired as the toilet is only accessible at the bottom of a spiral staircase. In conclusion, come here only if you like visiting tourist traps featuring staff with poor attitudes.

Expensive expensive expensive for low quality… There is no prices anyway! They haunt you with the “best chocolate in town” or so and they just serve 200ml of semi-warmed with the cheapest cocoa in the supermarket for 80sek/8€.

Lovely location, but pretty disappointing espresso. A bit burned, would have expected more given its presentation and the beautiful place. :)

25 Euros for one toasted sandwich and 2 coffees. No prices displayed, you find out the price when you pay. No water on the table, we had to buy bottled water. Rude man.

Went in to see the 18th century vault. Vault looks great. The counter of food also looks great - the cinnamon bun was very nice, chai latte average. Prices are not shown, got a huge shock and unlike the other reviewers I was not offered a receipt so have no breakdown to share but it was 154 SEK. Service as mentioned was brusque and no smiles. NO wifi. There's a sign "we have no wifi talk to each other" which was a bit rude. Going by reviews I only saw later, it's 60-70 SEK for the bun and 80-90 SEK for the drink. Toilets right by the vault so if you're trying to get a good shot you'll pick up fidgety people in the mirror. If I had my time again I'd just pop in for the vault without buying anything, or maybe just the pastry. Or look at photos on the internet.

Unbelievably expensive! They didn‘t paste the price with the products to make you think that would be anyway ok just one coffee and one bun, but it costed me nearly 14€. You could find the same things much much cheaper in same street, JUST SKIP IT!

The girl who made churros managed to slip one on floor, then the coworker guy just hinted her and she picked up from the floor and then put it with rest of the churros. When we told them we saw her picking up from the floor, they straight denied, and the guy in a rude manner said he will return the money back. They also didn’t throw away the churros, so I’m positive these people just sold it to someone else. They guy is really rude if you aren’t white (this is very strange and 1 year here in Sweden, only first time I experienced this stuff) Save you money and go the the other shop which is about 100m away from this place.

Terrible quality and greedy staff. Paid 50 Euros for them to warm up store bought churros and waffles. When I asked them to fill the water bottle for my kid. They replied we only sell water. Do you realize in Sweden water is free everywhere?

Staff is moody and not friendly at all. Over priced 85kr for a cappuccino and 99kr for Churros!! Where do you live? More expensive than an airport!

So yes, the place is clean, beautiful and the food is good ... but it's way too expensive! I paid the equivalent of 34€ for a bagel, a cinnamon roll and a coffee - just think, the coffee was worth 10€! Prices are not displayed, so ask before you order! The staff are relatively decent

The location draws you in if you’re a tourist because it’s in the Old Town and you are not looking at reviews. But if you read this, don’t waste your time. The cinnamon pastry is store bought and gross and the service doesn’t care about you.

Prices are beyond reason. 4 slices of Pizza, two Cappuccini and an apple juice come in at 695 Kroner. That is just plain tourist trapping.. the pizza was half cold and not good. Coffee was good though..

Tasty pizza but very expensive (360 SEK for two slices of pizza, 1 latte, 1 Coke Zero). The bigger issue is the attitude of the guy behind the counter. He clearly hates dealing with the public and berated several people while we were sat there, loudly bitching about the lack of respect of certain customers, clueless to his own behaviour!

Mediocre, crowded and EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE! They have no prices up on the walls/boards, which should've been a warning sign. We ordered 2 slices of pizza and one cup of homemade lemonade which cost us 325kr which is the equivalent of 30 USD. I recommend you to ask for the price before paying as neither the food nor the service was worth this price...

Classic Tourist trap in a negative meaning. Have been here long ago when it was cafe Grå Munken. Then it was a standard cafe filled with lots of locals and tourists. Now it's just tourists as local will go to other places with reasonable prices. The prices are outrageously high. I am a local and will never ever come back. To bad for tourists to get scammed this way. Stay away and do not support these extortionate prices. There is a reason for no listed prices folks. Beware.

RUN AWAY! nothing in the experience was to be saved! Barmaid was so rushed, not smiley.. OVERPRICE! we paid 17e for 1 hot Chocolate and 1 disgusting and dry cinamon bun. Oh and the chocolate wat terrible as well. Tables were sticky and not cleaned. BUT fun enough, as soon as we finished the drink, a waiter came to clear our plates as if he was asking 'please leave'. 1 toilet only for this big place.. Not cool!

Total rip off / tourist trap. No prices on anything and then everything is so much more expensive than you’d think possible. My friend was charged 279 kr for a tea and a sandwich. Luckily she has no issues standing up for herself and questioned it, after which she returned the sandwich. They still tried to charge her 97kr for the tea, which she asked a refund for as well, after which they charged her the still unreasonable 47kr. All the food looks delicious but it’s really a bit of a trap. I could see so many people being shocked at the prices (swedes too) when getting to the till, so this is not normal.

Prices are not displayed. Everything is overpriced, even for Stockholm. On airport was everything cheaper. For 99kr, you get 5 churros. For 85kr, you get one cappucino. For example, in the restaurant nearby, whole italian margarita is 120kr. Big regret!!!

We stepped in because it looked so Christmassy and cute outside. Since the prices were not shown anywhere, we figured that we are in for a surprise but thought at the same time how bad could it be. We had 2 waffles, a bagle, semla, and 2 coffees for almost 800 sek. It was a good reminder that everything that shines isn’t gold. The food and service didn’t justify the extra touristy price.
