A very atmospheric restaurant in the heart of Old Town. Great food, great service, and wonderful atmosphere. Like all places in Old Town, the restaurant is expensive, but that is to be expected given the location. They have a great lunch and dinner menu which focuses on traditional Swedish meals. I can warmly recommend this place based on my experience there.

You feel like you’re in your family house and having a peaceful dinner with your family. Very comfortable place and many options for dinner. Also, people were very helpful, warm and nice.

We just had our NYE dinner here. The NYE menu existed out of 5 courses for 1095 sek. If you wanted the accompanying wines it was 695 sek extra. The atmosphere is great, old classy tavern vibes. The food was okay to good. The taste of each ingredient on your plate fitted with the rest. However, I’m not complete convinced that it justifies the price. But as it was New Year’s Eve, I guess we also paid for this special night. I’m not familiar with Swedish hospitality as we’re visiting here, but it seemed the staff wasn’t specifically happy to be working on NYE. All combined a 4/5. Nice food and a nice setting for Stockholm’s oldest restaurant.

Very deep in character. Most of guests were in large groups or families- got very loud for a "cave" with curved ceilings :). We were given table in a walkway, somewhat separated, which was nice with time, as main rooms got louder. Food was nicely presented, was heavy and oversalted though. Main dishes are different meats and different ways made potatoes. I liked my desert!

Very cool restaurant. Great food, awesome service. Small patio option but the inside of the restaurant is very unique. A little pricey but food was delicious. Able to make reservations online but we walked in and had no problem getting a seat.

Staff didn't want us there and it showed. Didn't know we had a reservation and said we shut in 30 minutes so you might not get served food. told us to wait to be served and led us to the tables but didn't seat us, just left us standing in the middle of the resturant before running off to the kitchen. When we were finally seated the staff when called over (politely) would obviously see our calls but would ignore us. We ended up getting out our seats and just left, not one staff member inquired why. In short the service was soo poor that it became entertaining

ONE OF THE BEST MEALS EVER HAD This is the oldest restaurant on Sweden so it could have been an absolute miss but we were blown away. Such a small menu means that everything was fantastic - I’m veggie so was slightly worried but wow Couldn’t recommend this more - what a find

Great place to eat at in Old Town with interesting flavours! The soup, moose carpaccio and deer were delicious. The fillet mignon could have been better. The sommelier was very helpful and provided us with great advice and stories.

This restaurant deserves 6 stars. I visited twice while in Stockholm. The second night I had the Char and it was in the most exquisite cream sauce. Best meal ever. I started with a cocktail called Polar Ice which is a lingonberry and vodka drink, which has both lingonberry liquor and pressed lingonberry juice. It was outstanding. The previous night I had veal in an awesome mushroom sauce with the most delicious gratin potatoes. The veal was so tender. It came med. rare but I would have preferred medium The chef really knows how to make a sauce and they do say it is Swedish food with French influence. This has to be the best restaurant in Stockholm and the price is really reasonable for what you receive. The managers and wait staff could not be nicer. I would come back to Stockholm just to eat here once again and try another dish! If you like fish and cream sauces... order the Char....incredible! Also the several cave like rooms are so charming but we ate outside one night and that was great also. I cannot recommend this place more....did I say I would give it 6 stars out of 5....make it 10 out of 5. I'm from California and I've visited France many times. Trust me....if you come to Stockholm, this is a must. Right in the old town Gamla Stan. Oh and the best Swedish meatballs also!! I wish I lived here!

Lovely food. Therefore I give 4 starta. We went there with our 3 children. The table was pre-booked and we expected a faster service. But we had to wait for more than 45 minutes to get our starters !!! That was too long to wait !!! However the rest of the courses followed well & in time & all were happy!

Amazing food. service was terrible, and it wasn't busy at all. They forgot my wine pairing. Borderline rude waiters who were never around. Slow to collect dishes, threw our cutlery on the table, really arrogant. if they showed some arrogance and were good at their job fair enough but these guys were amateur. Just really let the night down as the food was fantastic.

Traditional and well established place with good but not excellent food. The price gives expectations and they fulfill the minimum of it.

It is a classic Stockholm restaurant. The locale is in the middle of old town and it has been a restaurant in that place since the 1680's. The food is Swedish classic dishes with a French touch. The prices are VERY high, fine dining high. The food actually rises up to that level, but the service is far from it. Rude, un-attentive and could not answer any questions about what they were serving. If you want to spend this kind of money there are better experiences to be had, even on the same street.

What a lovely little place! Traditional Swedish restaurant thats tucked away on a side street. You could easily walk straight past it... Don't! The food in this place is amazing. I had the reindeer which was absolutely fantastic.

On a tour in Stockholm, we had a group dinner at Fem sma hus. Each course was delicious. When the main course was served, I was initially disappointed that it was chicken. But after one bite, I changed my mind. The chicken breast was moist and tender. The sauce was fantastic. It was served with root vegetables, all cooked perfectly. The chocolate mousse with raspberry puree was delightful.

Very impressed with our experience at this establishment. Warmly greeted, the menu explained and suggestions offered and accepted. Each dish was excellent although I confess that herring is not for me (but I'm glad I tried it). The setting is unique too, being in the lower basement levels of the houses above. Great, intimate atmosphere. If you want to try Swedish food in a fine-dining setting, you can't go wrong with this place.

We had a wonderful dinner at Fem Små Hus. We were only in Stockholm for a short time (2 nights), so wanted to make sure we got some traditional Swedish fare. Our entrees did not disappoint - we went with the nordic char, veal, reindeer and of course, Swedish meatballs. Everything was delicious and perfectly portioned (particularly loved the potatoes that came with the veal). Wait staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and indulged me practicing my Swedish. We sat outside (was a beautiful August afternoon) and had arrived just before 5, so it was not crowded at all. By the time we left it had picked up, and we also found out there is quite a bit of inside seating as well across multiple levels. Would definitely go back if we make it to Stockholm again!
