Gorgeous countryside park with some of the best facilities I've seen in a park. Amazing woodland and river views. Ideal for cycling (even beginners) and long walks. Picnic area about half way up the walking route with stunning views. Toilets are well maintained and parking is cheap (Β£2 for 4 hours). Never used the cafe other than to buy water but it always looks clean and the food looks good.

Good for a peaceful walk early on very busy at peak times 10am onwards, plenty of options for distance including going round the Keg pool loop which is quite hilly but plenty of benches to take a rest. Plenty of bird life to spot. Also good as a cycling route if your fit. Remember change for car park which can get busy.

Parking available at the car park. Simply Google etherow country park car park. Payment at the machine which is at the entrance to the car park. Parking costs- 1 hour - 90p 2 hours - Β£1.20 3 hours - Β£2.30 All day - Β£3.60. Free for blue badge up to 3 hours Toilets available. Cafe available. Dogs allowed ( would suggest leads as its very busy and lots of birds and ducks. ) This isn't a large country park by any means. You can walk around the water within half an hour. There is a path all the way around but boots or wellies advised as its muddy in places. You can make the walk longer by going around the Ernocroft Wood which is right next to it. Very busy at weekends with families, pets and children. Great for a quick walk or a drink at the cafe.

Etherow Country Park is a family orientated place to visit as well for other groups of people whether your a group of friends, walkers, bird watchers it doesn't matter as it caters for all. Has a little cafe where you can buy allsort of refreshments and food items and in particular feeding the ducks. There are toilets at the entrance of the park. Etherow has lots to offer whether you enjoy feeding the ducks and geese, going for a walk as the park has some pretty amazing flora and fauna, as well as a waterfall. If you enjoy taking photos like I do, you have plenty of opportunity to do so. If you want to have leisurely sit-down and contemplate there are seating areas. There is opportunity to bring your fishing rod and see what you can catch. In the past Etherow Country Park was bustling with a variety events but since the pandemic this had died down but still you can have enjoyable time.

Its a beautiful park with lots of benches to sit, relax and have a picnic. Walk next to the river is so nice and that sound of water flowing 😍 Parking is excellent and also cheap- you can pay online using the RingGo Parking App (no need to waorry about coins). Β£1 for 2 hours and you can see other options on app for different durations. Location code for big parking is 15029. Enjoyed the walk, will plan picnic next time. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘Œ

Lovely country park, nice walk around the duck ponds and up to the waterfall, the forest is lovely to explore too. Parking ok, it gets busy at weekends and school holidays but we usually always manage to park up, there are toilets on both ends of the park which is handy with small kids, the cafe is nice too, reasonably priced and good selection. We usually buy duck food from the cafe to feed the ducks with.

Great country park. The path around is accessible in most places. We had a baby buggy with us and it’s easy enough to get around. There are muddy spots but you can keep to a quiet road and avoid them. Stunning weir part way round. Lots of wildlife to see too.

This place is stunning and it’s not a very long walk you can chose to take a longer path but ultimately this is a great place to get you kids outdoors as this place is buggy and wheelchair friendly for the most part. It is very flat here there are some rocky paths but it is quite wheelchair friendly and there is plenty of wheelchair accessible parking spots too. Always plenty of ducks here though so be careful because they quack

I regularly walk here and agree that it is a lovely area to be. But, disappointingly, a lot of reviews reflect the lowered expectations us Brits have come to accept over the years. Many say 'well-maintained'. Accepted, the money earning areas such as the cafe and the car park ARE well-maintained. But the rest is sadly in need of investment - puddles right across the paths - too much litter. As someone in their mid seventies I remember public parks and other public spaces which WERE 'well-maintained'. Not any more - unless done by 'friends of... wherever'. Everywhere in Lanzarote (which I visited recently) was 'well-maintained' - no litter - clean. We need to raise our expectations, or things will decline even more.

What a lovely park this was! Great for an evening stroll or a run. A walk along the river is very relaxing in the evening with the sunset. Park is even more beautiful in the summer as there’s flowers blooming from everywhere. Must do if you are in the area :)

Lovely park with beautiful scenery. Nice even paths on the right and down the middle but can be a bit muddy on the left in winter. Brilliant for walking dogs and feeding the ducks and geese and has a great little cafe too.

Wow what a beautiful place and a fantastic walk we had . It just so happened it really snowed for us on our walk up and down the hill side . Β£2.00 for parking up to 4 hours which is well enough time . We will be coming back here especially in the summer time can't wait .

This country park is certainly a visitor attraction, with its lake attracting plenty of geese, swans and other habitat. There is a cafe serving hot and cold snacks. The paths from the car park follow the river, and eventually lead to the weir, about a 20 min walk, and when approaching you can hear the sound of gushing water. The pathway through the wood near to the weir leads to hyde monument, which takes a couple of hours walk. There are picnic tables too..! Very enjoyable especially on a sunny day...!

I visited Etherow Country Park recently, and I must say I was disappointed. The water was brown and muddy, making it less appealing. The footpaths were wet, and there was even a fallen tree blocking one of them. The overall maintenance left much to be desired. Hope they can improve the conditions.

I absolutely love this park. It has everything you need for a stroll, lake, walking paths, forests, ponds, fantastic waterfall, cafe and Parking, only negative were the toilets are broken. Still wouldn't stop me coming again, it's worth the drive and my daughter loves the wildlife.

1st time visiting, on a chilling winter morning. Still looks glorious without the leaves and foliage. Plenty of ducks and geese. Great for walks. The woodland trail is a bit muddy at this time of the year, but not too bad. Nice cafe on site, well priced. Parking for cars is fairly priced too. Will surely visit in summer months the compare views.

An amazing day out with our Duke at Etherow Country Park, aka #etherowcountrypark. Didnt get to do the full hike all the way around as kept getting distracted. Can't wait to go back and complete the rest of the walk that is a lot more woodland based. ;) Highly recommend it if you fancy walking for a couple of hours in the world of peace & nature. If your up to it and a little adventuraous, certainly take some of the little off route tracks and explaore a little.

Well laid-out paths around the lake that are flat and accessible to all leading to the wier. There are more challenging walks available into the further reaches of the park or up into Ernocroft Wood. There's a reasonably-sized car park and a cafΓ© that's open at peak times.

Etherow Park is a lovely place to visit at any time of the year. It offers easy and picturesque trails around the lake. The park is bigger than it looks, and there are several woodland walks at its far end. There are numerous aquatic bird species here(including Canadian geese, goldeneye ducks, and swans), so bring plenty of bird food! There is a large carpark located at the front of the park, but it is pay and display. Also located here is a cafe which sells a variety of hot beverages and snacks. This is a good place to bring your kids, but please do note that it does not have a playground. For the less mobile, there are several benches located around the lake, but only the odd one on the woodland walks.

Great place for a decent sized walk with kids and can explore the forests on the sides of the lake. There’s a good size car park which you need to pay for, and a cafe and toilets at the entrance. There’s some toilets further up the walk too. Plenty of benches dotted around on the paths and some picnic benches further up towards the weir. Near the car park there’s a pond with ducks and occasionally some model boats which are great for kids to watch. It can be fairly muddy in some places due to recent rainfall so recommend wellies or walking boots. Dogs are allowed but recommend keeping in a leash due to large numbers of ducks and geese.

Our grandchildren love it here it's about a 20 min drive from us . We bought duck food from the cafe and walked down to the weir. It's a lovely walk . They always want a picnic there. Then walked back by the water , then they had hot chocolate with all the trimmings.

Very nice place to walk or have a picnic. There is a car park at the beginning with pay and display tickets. 70p 1 hour and a cafe for a coffee stop before or after. Great place to take your dogs for a nice long walk.

  • 5/5 Ceri B. 2 years ago on Google
Visiting from out of the area, we found this beautiful walk to do with our dogs. I don't think we covered all of it,but did a large circle from the cafe right down to the weir and back. It was peaceful and very pretty. The car park was a pay and display and had plenty of spaces. I did speak to one of the rangers, who was very friendly. We did not try the cafe, but it looked popular. Lovely place to go, with or without dogs.

  • 5/5 DAZ A. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely walk through the park lovely round trip taking in the wildlife and different types of ducks. The weir is great site to see when you reach it. Roughly takes about 40-45 minutes to walk around and that's not rushing. Ideal for dogs children and even wheelchairs and prams. Carpark is cheap Β£1 for 2 hrs which is plenty of time for a visit to the cafe and public toilets on site. πŸ‘

Wonderful amenity for walking. Largely flat and well-maintained footpaths are easy for all ages. Public conveniences at either end of the park, but those at the far end always seem to be closed. Basic catering amenities, and a quaint little garden centre with refreshments add to the charm of the place. Sailing club active on the lake in the warmer months. Lots of birds and waterfowl to appreciate.

  • 5/5 Charles L. 2 years ago on Google
Interesting place to access the countryside from, the park has an boating and fishing lake, the river Etherow flows through the park. There is also a nature reserve, cafΓ©, public toilets and small garden centre. The car park is pay and display, the place is well worth exploring.

  • 5/5 Hamar L. 2 years ago on Google
Well maintained and a good country park for day outing. The waterfall is the best part. Car park in the site and quite busy sometimes.

  • 3/5 Hannah B. 10 months ago on Google
We had a lovely walk around the lake and through the woods, which on a got day like today gave a bit of respite from the sun and allowed the dogs to cool down. There's a fair few amenities and bins throughout which is always a bonus and meant the country park was nice and clean. The only downside we felt was the smell at times going round from the ducks/geese/swans but is to be expected somewhat when walking around a lake. Most importantly, the dogs had a good time having sniffs

  • 4/5 Lucy G. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely park with toilets, cafe and a little plant shop. Lots of ducks and geese and different walks around a central lake. Wildlife and sensory garden to explore. Β£1 to park for 2 hours cash or pay by APP. Only four stars as not free parking.

Lovely place to feed to ducks, go for a coffee and piece of cake, and walk the trails, it has wooded areas with decent incline/decline paths. A dam, plenty of ducks. A great spot for fishing too. Just a lovely nature atmosphere suitable for families and dog walks any time of the year. Think there's one little bridge that might be a squeeze but the vast majority could be done with a pram

Longer walks are available into the wooded area or through the park itself. Carpark is council owned and metered although it is possible to pay on the Ringo app. The cafe is excellent value for money and run by friendly staff following covid protocols requiring customers to wear masks and pay using contactless methods.

Open spaces, waterside walks, forest rambles, ducks, geese and herons. A cafe, toilets and a car park, all nestled on the edge of a busy town, on the doorstep to the open countryside and it's easy to see why this park attracts many visitors. From old to young, active to leisurely, this place is a treat for everyone.

Nice place. The main 'lake' for want of a better word, tends to attract the great unwashed and the odd hoody to some extent. If you venture past the waterfall at the end of lake theres a much quieter area. Here you'll find the Keg Pool and lovely woodland walking area. Probably and hour and a half to complete the whole walk.

Visited many times, large numbers of water dwelling birds, always a great sight, however, the park is not well maintained, paths very muddy and some of the drainage channels are frequently blocked, with corresponding decay and accompanying stench. In addition, there is not much in the way of safety equipment for an area with such easy access to deep water.
