I wanted to start bjj for a long time and saw an ad for the beginners course which was perfect for me and I'm so glad I started, it's a very friendly relaxed environment and coach Jon is extremely helpful, approachable and knowledgeable. Highly recommend 👍🥋

Since starting here 2 years ago, my children have developed lots of confidence and important skills. It is a very reasonable cost meaning that my children can come to several sessions a week. They are both very happy and made lots of friends. The instructor is very approachable, friendly and patient. After my daughter returned from an injury which happened at a different place during a different sport, the instructor was able to adapt the activities within the session to allow her to participate with more confidence. Would highly recommend. Thank you for all you do.

Absolutely amazing gym, couldn't ask for a better group of people or better coaches, I've done the beginners course and go every Thursday it's extremely affordable and 200% worth every penny.

Great coaches, environment and other clientele that help put you at ease quickly. Keep an eye out for the Beginner's Course if you're new - it fills up fast! Don't worry if you don't get on it though as the Fundamentals classes are a great start for newcomers, first one is free and after that every penny spent is worth it. The timetable shows there are lessons on throughout the day. Get yourself in and get bitten by the BJJ bug! 🤙🏻

BJJ is not just a sport - It's a lifestyle! Great for adults who want to get fit and learn some fantastic self defense techniques. It builds confidence and character for kids and teaches them discipline and how to protect themselves. With Jon Hand you certainly are in good hands, my little boy started and its helping him lose weight and he is really picking up the basics now!

Took our shy son to Horizon BJJ a few years ago to learn self defence and to build his strength, self esteem and character. This was (and continues to be) one of our best parenting decisions ever. Jon the instructor, is not only great (and patient!) with the kids as a whole but is considerate of each individual character that encourages engagement and continual progress and growth in their JJ skills and overall confidence. What was hoped for at the beginning with our son is being achieved and if I could give Horizon and Jon more stars I would!

Super welcoming, everyone is really friendly and eager to help you learn. The coaches are a wealth of knowledge, happy to answer any questions and have really good teaching methods. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to start a new hobby!

Fantastic gym and classes for all abilities, highly recommend the 8 weeks beginners course, now starting the fundamental classes, Jon is a great person and coach nothing to much trouble asking about the technical side of grappling, also the other coaches and more experienced are always happy to give pointers. I am thoroughly enjoying Brazilian jiu-jitsu because of this place.

I was looking for somewhere for my daughters to go to learn material arts.... Jon came highly recommended, and I'm so glad we went along. Jon is very professional.... he makes sure he gives all the children his time. He watches... teaches... and gets in with the children too. It's very clean and Jon is hot on when it comes to hygiene and cleaning. In 4 months my girls have grown so much in confidence, they love their Tuesday and Saturday classes. If you are looking to join somewhere like this I highly recommend Jon and horizon BJJ

I took the 8 week beginners course. When I signed up I was mentally in a very low place. Not going to lie I was mega nervous when I went to my first class but Jon is an expert teacher and mentor. 9 weeks on I feel real inner confidence I've never felt before. I'm so thankful to everyone at the gym.

Horizon gym is by far one of the best places I have trained. The atmosphere is great. The students are very friendly and supportive. The head coach (John hand) is a brilliant coach who invests a lot of time into the development of every individual. Not only is he a part of the student's progress in jujitsu, but he is always there to listen and support you off the mats. There are also other coaches at the gym who have an excellent understanding of the sport. The gym is full of students with a variety of skill sets at different stages of their martial arts journey. Everyone is there to help you learn and grow. You can go at your own pace. Students are always taught about honour, respect and taking care of their teammates. Classes are on at different times to cater for everyone’s schedule. There are 6am classes, lunch time classes and also evening classes.

I started taking my 8 year old boy to have a go at classes here to help him with his confidence and resilience. He absolutely loves it and Jon is fantastic with all the kids, he teaches all kinds of skills that school doesn't! My boy was welcomed with open arms and made to feel safe and valued - you can't put a price on that. 1000% recommended.

Fantastic place to learn BJJ and meet new people. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the coaches are all helpful and keen to share knowledge. I started training several months ago after putting it off for a long while and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

By far the best gym in Stoke.Quality mentoring for every aspect on and off the mats. The gym has a great bunch of people and the perfect atmosphere for beginners. As a beginner myself it was hard for me to get through the door but thanks to Jon it’s now the highlight of my week.Honestly can’t rate the place enough.
