Decided to take my best friend out for a Sunday carvery on Sunday 24th. (24/04/2022) about 1.30pm. The food was cold and dry. The Beef was like rubber ideally need a wood saw to cut through it. Same as goes for the lamb. The only meat worth eating was the roast turkey. Meat portion sizes was enough to feed a baby. Roast potatoes was like eating a ball of silicone. We also had to experience somebody being sick right next to us without even offering to move us elsewhere leaving us to eat in an uncomfortable environment. It was so ridiculous to see that when the person left they was still sick of the carpet and it stunk. It was never even cleaned properly. Would expect better hygiene for a restaurant. This really was a terrible and appalling experience and really wouldn't recommend wasting your money or time on this place. On the upside the staff weren't bad at greeting us on arrival and from our bad experience they did knock a carvery off the bill. But £18.60 odd for such a terrible experience is a real rip off and would preferred a further few quid off. Definitely DO NOT come to this franchise. Photo of the franchise reviewed is attached to this review as there is more than one Toby's in Stoke.

Booked a table for 5 pm for 4 . Liked the text they sent as a reminder to put car registration in . Carvery food was ok but presentations of food , needed a good stir, as it looked like it had been standing a while . 4 choices of meat . Wasn’t to busy . I enjoyed the food but others struggling with the beef as it was hard . Asked for a decafe latte , but hadn’t got one so using their initiative, made me a decafe coffee with warm milk. Ordered 2 adult festive meals,1 child’s off main menu and a normal carvery. . They forgot my pudding and I had to ask .Service was friendly. When it came to the bill we wanted it separated . As my daughter has a blue light card and could get a percentage off the normal menu , They said we had already had a discount so wouldn’t do it. We paid and left and not one member of staff wished us a merry Christmas or even said goodbye and 2 were at door when we left . It wasn’t that busy. Been here a few times but would think twice now .

Marie was out waitress, she was amazing, very attentive, helpful and caring. She helped my nan 89 yrs old to carry her plate back to table. We ordered the salmon and prawn wellington and she checked they would be ready in time so we could all go to the carvery together.

Enjoyed our visit, only problem waited a long time to pay and weren't acknowledged by any member of staff including the manager. Also shouted out at when leaving the table to pay with drinks in hand ,asking if we'd paid!! The food and drinks were very nice but more training needed in customer service, hence only gave 4 stars The marina was lovely very clean and a lovely family of geese too 🌟🌟🌟🌟😁🥂

The China Garden was busy last Thursday as main courses were half price. Food was lovely, hot and flavoursome. Our hostess Chelsea was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. She kept popping over to see if we needed anything. She was very polite and friendly. Thank you for a lovely experience we will definitely come again.

Arrived at the Toby Carvery at Festival Park recently at 4pm, hoping to have a quiet drink and then eat around 5.15 ish. We hadn't booked a table thinking that on a dull day, and at that time, it wouldn't be too busy. Sadly they had no tables free until after 6pm so we decided not to wait 2 hours and went elsewhere to eat. We did stay for a drink, but there was nowhere to sit in the bar area, abd the only space was in the family room. This was clean and tidy despite there being families coming and going. So big shout out for the staff in coping I such a busy environment. If you plan to go here for a meal, definitely book ahead. The food looked and smelt good. I also found out they do a takeaway service, so that was good to know about for future .

I find it really easy to book a slot online, even if its short notice especially when the weather is nice and people can sit outside. Staff are really friendly, i was served by a lady called Marie, very helpful and polite even though i could see they were busy. The Carver today was also very friendly, gent called Liam, gave nice portion sizes.

Called in today for the carvery. Couldn't give any less than 5 stars. The service was friendly and efficient and the food so fresh, with much more choice than most carveries. I had pork with lashings of apple sauce. The pork melted in your mouth. Not a bit of the usual dried up joints you see in so many carveries. All in all a place to visit. Highly recomnended.

Location is the best part of this pub. Doombar is okay but the sandwiches are cheap and not good value. Roast potatoes aren’t edible and house salad is lettuce and a couple of tomatoes with raw carrots. Won’t be back that’s for sure

Meg was our server today on a busy Sunday and was an absolute star, very polite from the star, ensured we had everything we needed, checked in and didn’t push for us to go, good knowledge of the menu and super chirpy attitude with customers around us very attentive! The food was smashing as always, sometimes with Toby’s you find a lack of food with bits not being ready but it was stocked and hot and delicious. Lovely setting in the marina also.

Marie was so helpful and we had such a nice time at the carvery on date night. The food was great, especially the roasted potatoes and turkey. This was our first time going to the carvery and we would definitely recommend and be coming back again. Thank you Marie for making our experience such a delight.

The efficient way they accommodated and enabled so many people to enjoy Sunday lunch was amazing. Everything was slick - speedy check-in, service (ordering & delivering of drinks), & carvery plus clearing & cleaning of tables! All without fuss. Well done!

Food was good so was the service but what I wasn’t happy about was, when I booked I said I would prefer not to be by families and was seated by them. The kids were running around and were loud and weren’t be corrected. I’d got a 79 year old with me and there was an 80+ yr old on the next table and other O.A.P seated by to. It would be better if one side of the pub was family and the other side off the pub was none family at least you would be able to enjoy your meal then. Also we had a fly, flying around us and landing on our meat to which we couldn’t eat. You need to put fly screens around windows. We did complain and they said they couldn’t do anything about it which I understand but you do need to do more to reduce them. We ended up eating our desserts outside where we weren’t harassed by insects believe it or not. Also couldn’t you sell other food besides carvery.

Great Toby. Love walking along the canal to enjoy a carvery here. Food is a good standard, staff often polite and the atmosphere is busy. Good car park, remember to input registration on the machine as you enter. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

Great to have a typical carvery after a long wet rainy and gloomy day in October. Place is clean and decorated in the spirit of Halloween. Waitress very polite and friendly. Makes you feel like you are "home".

Went here for a family meal, ended with my partner having his own food thrown at him and aggressive behaviour from the manager. After assuming my partner was drinking an alcoholic beverage (my partner being a 23 year old man may I add), the manager and his worker came over and demanded the drink from him. After explaining its not his and he is merely sharing a table with the person who it belonged to, they told him to leave to which he refused as he had done nothing wrong and had paid for his meal he was still eating. The manager snatched my partners plate and threw it all over his clothes and on the floor while acting very aggressively. Great first impression mate👍

Good food, nice to have a few vegetarian choices. Our server, Marie, was brilliant. She was busy but still managed to make us feel welcome while being efficient.

I have never been to a Tony Carvery before and was happy to go with a friend (it’s one of her favourite restaurants). The food was amazing and there was loads of choices of meat and veg. Prices were great and if you have a big appetite you can pay an extra £1.99 for a huge plate. Young kids eat for 99p. The staff members I met were friendly and made sure we had every thing we needed. The only drawback was the fact that the restaurant was a little tired looking, with some water damage and re-painting needed. None of which would put me off from eating here again :)

What was great was the customer service and knowledge of the customer. What was awful was the meal. The beef was fatty and inedible and the vegetables were cold. We are regular visitors and known to the staff as not persistent moaners. They without hesitation did not charge us even though we were happy to pay for what we did eat.

I hadn't been to this location for a while and decided to have the breakfast carvery here. Staff were helpful with my allergy and everything should be nut free, except for the usual risk of traces, it was also pointed out that there would be no eggs during the current shortage which is understandable. The food was nice enough and with the reasonable price we paid I was happy enough. I even tried the breakfast Yorkshire pudding, my wife was a fan but I was not. There were very few staff around during service which again was understandable to keep costs low. The decor and flooring looked like it was in need of a good refresh as the floors especially were very dirty in places.

Overall the food was good but the spouts were a bit too hard and the cabbage was just the stalk from the bottom. The meat, I had a slice of pork and turkey, was delicious. Not bad value as being a carvery you gad as much or little as you wanted. Also it would be adviseable to book at peak times.

My Mum and I dined with you on Christmas day 25 12 2022. We were so well looked after from start to finish. We were greeted at reception and quickly and courteously shown to our table. The food was absolutely delicious My starter of pate was gorgeous, the main course from the carvery was equally delicious and the blueberry cheesecake was heaven on a plate. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all 5he staff for working on Christmas day, with a special mention for Eleni ( apologies if I've spelt your name incorrectly) who looked after us so well. We will definitely recommend you and we will return soon

Been a few times. Turned up without booking and always been able to get a table. It's a popular carvery only place. Can be a queue for food but seems to move quickly. Friendly staff. Good lakeside location. Remember to input car registration plate in the tablet on arrival.

Overall, my experience of Toby Carvery is a steadfast one. It is a chain restaurant, so it's great for its carveries. The choice of meats are gammon, turkey, beef and lamb, which you can have any combination of; and the veg section allows you to tweak whatever you want - mashed, roast potatoes, peas, carrots, cauliflower, stuffing. And obviously you get a Yorkshire pudding too (small or large). Potatoes were a little undercooked, but overall, fine. The one thing that stuck out was the Pepsi Lime from the drink dispenser. Just one sip of it made me want to gag - PICK AT YOUR OWN RISK! I've had Pepsi Max Lime from the brand bottle and the dispenser's is so far off the proper taste, it's criminal to label it Pepsi. Let alone having the option there despite the disgusting flavour. It tasted so foul I've docked a star for putting people's health at risk with that concoction. The staff were even informed, but just shrugged in a "not my problem" kinda way, and just got a clean glass. The Strawberry Pepsi, on the other hand, is fine :)

We booked the private side room for our family reunion. The family were made most welcome by the staff. The buffet was excellent with a great selection of food which everyone enjoyed, with plenty of Fruit drinks, hot and cold water being available . The manager and a staff member came in on separate occasions to make sure everything was ok, It was. All this food for less than £11with drinks, you just can't get better. All the family commented on how nice the food had been. We give it 5* for our enjoyable family reunion and tasty meal. We WILL be returning.

Restaurant wasn't too busy, was kept waiting to be seated. Table wasn't ready, even tho I had booked. Fetched food, no drinks offered, had to go to the bar to order. Meat was dry had to request fresh. We asked for the bill, we went asked if we had the app we did have 4 children with us so we're using the kids eat for £1.had to ask for the bill to be amended.

Been here lots recently. Cheap and cheerful. Parking is free simply register your vehicle registration inside the carvery. The marina is a lovely place to hang out after eating. The staff are attentive and friendly and do not keep you waiting. Carvery was nice. Some food was dry like the cabbage and the mash potatoes was a solid hard mass. Only option for drinks was refillable glasses but there are many flavours to choose from. I will of course return as I would recommend visiting.

Good as ever but first time in years I had to wait for a table. Place was packed. Enjoyed the food. Hot and fresh. Nice to see the end of microwave sponge puddings, looks like they are tray baked now. Friendly staff who were keeping a close eye on the tables, so service was very quick. As good as chain carvery's ever get . Two course meal £ 10 .90 I think. Pushing it a bit at £2 for a pot of tea though.

Worst place I've ever been to. The food was over cooked and cold. They took 40 minutes to fill the order and it was wrong twice. I would highly recommend going anywhere else. Food was tough and tasteless. They didn't butter the bread. I have nothing good to dsy about the place

Food was amazing we all had a carvery and it was delicious. Our server Chelsea who has only been there for a week was FANTASTIC and looked after our table of 14 perfectly. Thank you and we will be back for another delicious carvery :)

Never ever go to this carvery in a car. My daughter took us to this carvery in her car , we had a nice meal. However 2 weeks later she has received a parking fine of £50 for going over the allotted time. The staff should be making diners aware as soon as they walk in to the restaurant that they face fines if they don't pay for parking/ over stay the allotted time. We will never return to this restaurant and will also tell all our relatives/friends not to go.

Birthday treat for my Grandson, there were 6 of us. Service was great when we got there, shown to our table, drinks brought orders taken. We all opted for the carvery which was good but not very hot, mine was lukewarm when I got to the table, having said that it was very good. We also ordered 2 portions of pigs in blankets which we had to ask for twice. Once we had finished our meal the table was cleared. We didn't want any sweets which is a good job really because we never got asked, ended up having to ask for the bill. It was getting quite busy at this point & I don't think they have enough staff. The food was good, prices are reasonable, but the service could be better.

Nice welcome. Promptly shown to our table. Drinks delivered. Carvery was excellent, I always think that a Toby carvery does the best beef ever. Lovely veggies and lots of them. Lovely surprise...they had swede! Not all Toby's do swede so this was very welcome. Lady came twice to make sure everything was ok. It was. All this food for less than 15 quid, you just can't get better. The only thing I'd like to see would maybe be some roasted parsnips. 5* for an enjoyable, tasty meal. We WILL be returning.
