We were very impressed with our steaks, really good quality and cooked to perfection. The waiter was really friendly and very helpful! We had a 30% off voucher which came through the door, and we will definitely be back again!

We attended the Pepper Mill having not been for a long time. It used to be one of our favourite places to eat as a family. We were informed that the carvery was not on so ordered off the menu. The mega mixed grill was not available so we ordered surf n turf and that also wasn't available. Finally we were able to order but the food was dry and luke warm at best and the garlic bread was undercooked (see photo) One of the drinks had something floating in it (see photo) and the table was dirty. As it was a "celebratory" meal for our daughters parents evening we persevered. My wife emailed a complaint and received a response of "thanks for the feedback, we will share it with the local team". We then informed them that 2 members of our family had been ill following the visit to then receive an email asking for medical reports confirming the illness!! The staff in the restaurant acted like we were an inconvenience throughout the visit. Hopefully this gives more feedback to explain the 1 star rating. Really disappointing and not what we have come to expect from this chain of pubs/restaurants.

The food was nice and staff were brilliant especially as it was busy and seemed a little light on the ground. The carvery meats were all lovely and moist only complaint is the veg options and other options are very basic..... other places provide greater choice and there is also no mash which I really don't get .... which my two children were disappointed about. Also the stuffing is rationed to one block per person which I didn't understand and the cauliflower cheese is not cheesy at all and rather bland which is my favourite thing. There were also no crayons available for children which would've made the visit easier but the food was served very quickly which was a bonus

Arrived around 7pm last night. Got a table no problem but was greeted with - there is no carvery, i haven't any chicken burgers and not many beefburgers left! Despite that we had a lovely meal, but I was concerned to see plates being cleared from tables but no tables being wiped down? In the current climate of things being somewhat normal I would have thought it would be important to keep these standards up?

It's a nice pub, was very quiet an 1730 when we went in. The carvery was okay, not as good as another well known chain. The veg had been out too long! My daughter had the curry off the main menu, she really enjoyed.

Had no idea this place had new owners but we are impressed definitely new owners greeted us very friendly and accommodated my extremely weird request with my steak😂 the chips were top tier haven’t had better chips until today the steak was cooked to perfection(two different cooking rates) the two guys behind the bar were lovely and nice to talk to but the food oh god has this food got so much better it’s incredible will definitely be coming back here now I’m proud this is my local. Well done guys!

We called for tea to escape a big traffic jam. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of room to sit, though the table would have benefited from a clean. We ordered scampi and chips, classic burger and classic chicken burger. The food was nice and the chips were hot and crispy. We all enjoyed our food.

I’m a regular here, all of the staff are very attentive and caring, they go above and beyond for everyone. The food arrives very quick, with perfect temperatures and cooked to perfection. Everything on the menu is very customisable so you can have everything exactly how you like it. The drink selection is great with the cocktails and gins to the lagers there’s plenty to choose from. The carvery is perfect, juicy gammon, beef and turkey with carefully seasoned veg, with gravy and your choice of sauces, it’s all you could want.

First time visiting. Food menu looked good but when ordering half the menu wasn't available to order so I had no choice bit to order food I didn't want. Drinks and frozen cocktails wasn't available so I was offered a drink completely different to want I wanted. Food portions were small and warm (not hot) when they arrived to the table. Will not be going again.

Good atmosphere. Ordered online,prompt service with drinks. Unfortunately as there was a party on we had to wait over 45min for the food we ordered. (I had to ask) Staff were professional and pleasant. Food was tasty and hot. Cleanthiness of the pepper mill was good.

Had a lovely valentines meal with my boyfriend. Terri was our server, she was very kind and helpful. Would deffo go again! Had the BBQ chicken burger, but changed the fries to potato fries, was so nice.

Ordered off gluten free menu due to being celiac. Brought out my own cutlery and wiped my side of the table and my order came out with an allergy stick on, can't say if kitchen was in a gluten free area. Shame you don't do gluten free Gravy so I could have a carvery

Been tonight as a table of 6. Even though they were short staffed tonight, we were still served in good time and by a lovely member of staff, Shirley. She ensured our meals were correct and checked regularly if we needed more drinks and ensured everything was alright with our meal. The plates were cleared quickly and dessert was brought out in good time. Thank you Shirley.

First visit to the Pepper Mill today, popped in for food. Served by Shirley who was a lovely lady and advised us of the Steak and a drink offer for £12.95. Well worth the money and really nice food. Will definitely be visiting again 🌟

Came in today to have a meal with my partner and while we were there I was appalled to hear another table talk to a member of staff in such a horrible way however she handled it like a star with grace and decorum! Our meal was piping hot and really yummy, will be returning. Shirley was amazing and handled everything so well.

Food was off poor standard which I expected being a chain pub. The most shocking was that we were asked to leave because our time was up before all of our party had even had there pudding brought to us. Honestly poor customer service Worst I’ve seen in a while. I did complain but the I’m guessing some type of duty manager who said he would return with some type of compensation simple did not return If a company is not able to deliver a decent experience on Christmas Day best to not offer service than provide poor effort. I would appreciate someone getting in touch but if the day is anything to go by I don’t expect anyone will

Reccomend the hunter's chicken, very tasty and good value. Shirley our server was very accommodating and friendly. I would definitely return Thanks Shirley. ☆☆☆☆☆

Tasty and affordable food, but the waiting time was 54 minutes after ordering the food, by which the apetite had already disappeared, although the waiter was very polite and helpful but more staff is definitely required to serve customers better. Even my 7 year old acknowledge that the service was too slow but likes the food, the table beside us was with dirty dishes and was never cleaned up during my almost 2 hours stay. Might visit again to see if there is any improvement in the nearest future.

Really nice food, the beef lasagne was very tasty. We were looked after by Shirley who was absolutely lovely. She made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely come back here again.

Ordered buttermilk chicken roll , with cheese & bbq sauce , what i actually got was burnt and dry bread , and not buttetmilk chicken but a cheap dry southern fried chicken piece cut up into slices , was told this is how it came , which is not correct as other pubs in this chain dont use southern fried , its proper buttermilk chicken, my friend ordered a toasted sandwich with the bread being that hard you couldnt bite it , this was sat 26th aug , wont be going back

I went to the pub with my husband and a couple of friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we ordered food and drinks. We waited about 20 minutes for the food when it came it was nice and hot and a good amount on the plate. Will definitely be going back. I can recommend the scampi.

Upon entering I was greeted with a smile and we got seated really quick. The staff seam really friendly and the food was tasty. The lady who gave me my food was very nice. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. It was a tasty Marstons pub with a great atmosphere. If you haven't been here yet. I recommend you go at least once.

Never been before but its so nice. The staff are friendly and helpful but the food out did everything. I had the roast dinner and I've never had a nicer one 😋 the roasted carrots and parsnips 👏 my daughter is such a fussy eater and she shocked us all by eating the whole lot. Very helpful that they have smaller plates available for "under 5s". Will definitely be coming back

Have eaten here many times and have always been impressed with the customer service and the delicious food and drink that is available. The staff are always polite and helpful and will go the extra mile to assist you and they cater for so many people at all ages and children. The outside seating is lovely and relaxing when the sun comes out. It generally has a lovely atmosphere. The indoor seating is very comfortable and it is quite cool in there. The selection of food is fabulous from the carvery to the delightful desserts. Always love coming here with my family for a lovely meal out and to relax.

Had a lovely visit from start to finish this evening. Service, food and atmosphere were amazing. In particular Shirley, Summer and Lewis were fab! All very good at their jobs and so friendly. We have already arranged to come again with more family next Thursday.

The food was fantastic, hot, delicious and came out quickly, but it was the staff that really shone. All the staff were amazing but the lady that was working in particular was a credit to your team. She was so happy, helpfull and polite. She informed us of offers and even offered to keep my food warm when she saw I was feeding my baby and couldn't eat. This was out first visit and we have already planned to return.

Unfortunately the carvery wasn't up to standard. The veg was excellent but the meat dishes were poor. There were 6 in our group and not one of us could eat any of the beef....very tough, lots of gristle and too much fat. An issue also with the pork Far too much fat and not enough meat. On the plus side, the waitress did everything possible to make good our complaint and sincerely apologised. All very disappointing as this was meant to be a family celebration lunch Not the best experience for our first time visit.

Great service with helpful staff. The carvery meat was well cooked and the veg was fresh and tasty. Bar service was quick even at a Saturday lunchtime and I was offered dessert at the end of my meal

We had carvery for lunch, arrived at 12:20. Meat was very dry and vegetables were either soft or very hard! Taste wise, all tasted very similar! Not overly impressed will try something different next time!

After arriving for a mother's day meal with my family, parents and siblings, we got told our booking hadn't been made, the system in place had given us confirmation but the restaurant had rejected it. The welcome host Glen was very helpful tho and sorted us a table which we would have to have cleared by the hour this wasn't a problem as we appreciated him being able to help us get a meal together. The staff were very helpful when we required extra cutlery and asked us on a few occasions if we needed anything or more drinks they were friendly and professional

Excellent food tonight, gammon egg and chips cooked to perfection. After a short break we had dessert, which was absolutely delicious. Lewis was superb in his attentive manner and customer service. 5 stars all around tonight. Thank you

Very good! Excellent spacing of tables etc re covid so no worries at all there. Tasty food, great service, great prices. Extremely tasty desserts. What's not to love? Already been again! And again! Home made burgers, the nicest chips! Very helpful staff and a great choice for the carvery , and they fulfill your requests (no potato). Love it!

Sadly not the usual food or service despite.not many people. Only 3 staff which meant a wait to be seated and again when going to the bar to place the order. Food was slow coming out and my chicken was burnt round the edges and chips were cool. Hubby had sweet potato fries which were not crispy and the mushy peas were dry. It won't put me off as the food is usually very good. Definitely need more staff

We really enjoyed our meal here after my mothers funeral. The staff were very friendly and helpful and put us at a table off to one side. There was a little play area we could take a toddler to. Food was very good and the place was clean.

Myself and my mum had a very nice and welcoming experience the staff were very helpful and polite. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pepper mill is the only place I know of where do gluten free chips and fish one staff member asked if I required the gluten free mean as I had said I have intolerance he was very helpful.
