Little quirky museum with amazing staff who carry out the shows and truly engage the visitors. Despite my late arrival, I was made to feel welcomed and the attention and knowledge given by the staff to ensure that I could learn more about the steam machines and how they operated and still do was appreciated.

I went on one of their steam days (check the website for dates) and watched the stream engine start up and run. The safety railing keeps you safe while still being right up close to the moving parts. Very friendly volunteers who are happy to answer questions. You can also watch the blacksmith at work and she has a variety of hand made pieces for sale.

Wonderful experience for those of us who love industrial heritage sites. Our guide was Bernard and he spent 2 hours telling us about the history of the mill which has the only remaining operational steam driven potters' mill in the world. Sadly, it wasn't working the day we were there. They fire up the boiler about 5 or 6 times a year and it takes 5 days to build up enough steam but it would be worth some forward planning to see it going. Bernard was excellent.

The biggest sign at the entrance is for the tea room - that's my kind of museum. Lovely teacakes (cheese oatcakes also sold). Hoping for light lunches, but no. Steaming weekend so the mill is in use. Up close to a beam engine and grinders.

Volunteer-run museum exhibiting steam engines. Worth a visit and the short walk along the canal from the station on a steaming day to see the engine in action.

Great little museum and former flint and bone mill site. Staff are wonderful. My Dad had a medical emergency whilst there, and the volunteers and staff were absolutely fantastic. Couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely go back.

The flint and bone mill was amazing. All the volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. The boiler was running so we saw all of the working parts moving. Had entertaining time in the boiler room where the young man demonstrated with a hoop the gap he has to crawl through to clean it. A bonus on that day was a display of static engines right beside the scenic canals.

Our tour guy Bernard was brilliant and knowledgeable. If you are in to steam engines, gears, oil and the pottery industry then this is a must do. Absolutely brilliant

So interesting, and much bigger than expected. The volunteers lovely, and very knowledgeable. Would like to go back when everything is fired up!

Absolutely excellent museum with first class volunteer staff. Funding changes have left this slightly hidden gem in an awkward position. It is open only on certain weekends and, semi-officially, on Fridays. This glimpse into Potteries industrial heritage was a privilege.

👍👍 The scenery is stunning, and the café is nice, they have home baking done daily, amazing coffee, and lovely service. But then the visit to the Westport lake café is worth it just for the view alone.
