Been here for three nights as I've had training in Stoke. Absolutely horrible experience. I mean, if you fancy stuffy rooms with constant 23 degrees inside, not being able to sleep due to absolutely no air circulation (windows barely open due to 'safety reasons', toilet fan not working because god knows why) you will be in heaven. I've asked for a fan at the reception as there was busy day ahead of me and I couldn't sleep because of how stuffy my room was and they just said they're really sorry as there's nothing they can do. Again, if you fancy having to reset your key at reception every 24 hours as it just stops working you will be in heaven. Apparently it's a normal thing there but not in any other 3 star hotel. If you fancy being away from hotel for the whole day and realising it's been opened this whole time as the door lock got broken, you would be in heaven. It seems the lock was completely dead and we were transferred to a bigger, higher-tier room with fan which is appreciated, but nothing will make up for the fact that all my belongings had been exposed for ten hours just like that. Also, it seems they had plenty of fans back when I've asked for one earlier on. At least breakfasts and drinks were decent. Definitely not coming back, don't go there unless you're masochistic.

Pros: Staff friendly, room and main areas clean, breakfast good. Cons: card payment machine not working on arrival at reception and bar drinks bit pricey. Also, the sink in our room was very slow to empty and had a bath plug to use for it, but that was too big to use in the sink. In addition, guests are expected to pay £6.50 each to use the swimming pool - this facility should be free to guests as they are already paying enough to stay at this hotel.

After a 9 hour drive from the North of Scotland we looked forward to a meal and bed, that first night the room was so hot due to the radiator stuck full open due to no thermostat being fitted. We had the windows open which due to the noise off the road exacerbated the lack of sleep. The next morning we went to the swimming pool to try and unwind but then to be charged 6pp to use the pool (and empty hot tub). We spoke to the receptionist regarding the radiator and a supposed maintenance person looked at the radiator which did not get fixed, spoke to the receptionist again regarding this and was told he could not fit a replacement thermostat, FYI this is a 2 second job to screw on a unit. The attitude and inability to resolve this matter meant a second night of no sleep in a furnace of a bedroom. Just what we needed for a 9 hour drive home. Stayed in many Best Western hotels and this by far is the arm pit of them all. Hope they learn some manners and customer services and look after their guests.

Was booked for 3 nights would have left after one if not for the cancellation policy, left after 2nd night. Room was dated and smelt like someone had been smoking in there for 20 years, plug didn't drain even with a shower that barely worked, wifi was enough to check emails and that's about it, the lock also didnt work on the door. Gym was very limited and the pool was closed. Food was average at best and took over 2 hours just for the starter to arrive despite there only being around 4 people eating, the starter I'd paid for wasnt available so I swapped for a different one which was cheaper but wasnt given a refund so ended up overcharged, fortunately for them by the time I'd recieved my food I'd forgotten about it. Staff were friendly enough though.

The whole hotel is clean, tidy and recently decorated. The staff are friendly and attentive, and there is plenty of very convenient parking. Breakfast was good. we would book again. on the negative side our bed was tired and lumpy and a lot of the floor boards in our room and the surrounding rooms were squeaky but neither affected our sleep.

Overpriced for what is a very basic hotel. Aside from the city centre location, I don't think a room rate of over £100 per night is justified. The rooms are drab and extremely basic, but the shower is decent. The staff are helpful and the food in the bar is quite good. However I do think some of the rooms would be very difficult to access if you have mobility issues, for instance my room was in a separate block and there were a few steps at the block entrances. The main reception area is nicely decorated, surprisingly nice considering how rundown the exterior of the building looks, but as you get further into the hotel, away from the reception area and into the room, the decor is akin to a retirement home and not a fancy one. The rooms are huge but they have made no effort to make them comfortable. This could all be ok for some people, but considering the price for what you get, it's definitely not for me.

Great place to stay. The single room I was in was clean and looks like it was recently updated , but there’s a few marks and scuffs on the walls. Location was central. Staff and bar staff were very helpful. Ventilation would need to be looked into, as the room got very warm at night. Also some cosmetic updating, would help to make it more pleasing to the eye.

Excellent service. Car park gave access to the hotel, just had to put registration number in on a screen in reception to be covered. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was generous and young children in the family were made welcome.

Excellent hotel. Easy to find. Rooms very clean, TWO chairs (big bugbear of mine when there is one to share between 2 people). Staff are so lovely, nothing too much trouble. Just know we will be going again

We stopped here when visiting family in Stoke area. First of all, the staff are very friendly and efficient. The room was clean and tidy and came with a fan, great. However, the building is not just tired.... it's exhausted. A brutal example of a Best Western and as mentioned by someone else it could really do with being knocked down and starting again. It has never seen a revamp in it's era I would say, all decor, bathrooms, furniture, lift, all way out of date. And yet still £100 a night. Jeepers.

Staff were friendly, good sized car park. Rooms were ok, nothing special and not the cleanest. Where our room was located we had a night club not far from us and the music was blasting all night until early hours. We had lights on the walls outside the windows which were shining through as the curtains don’t cover the full window. Windows are really thin to the point where you can hear people’s conversations walking past. Other family members also stayed at the hotel but in a different part and they all said they couldn’t hear the music and it was dead silent in the night so if you are going to stay here try to avoid a room close to the roads. Other than that it was an average stay for the price in a city centre. Didn’t use the bar or restaurant as we were leaving early and returning around 11 at night.

Partner and I booked this hotel for a trip to Alton Towers. There is a big car park next to the hotel which was great, but make sure you don’t pay at the payment machine as you can pay at reception and the rate is much lower. We noticed that the area outside and around the hotel was very run down and dirty, with lots of rubbish on the streets. The hotel itself seemed ok though. The reception staff member who check us in was very friendly and welcoming. We were disappointed to learn that the pool was closed during our visit, but not a massive deal. Also decided not to have breakfast as it was quite pricey! We were given room 207 which was a lovely size and nicely furnished. Having said that it could definitely do with some TLC and the cleaning was not up to my standard! The cups were stained, the switches for the lamps were caked in grime, and black waterproof skirting in the bathroom was peeling off of the wall. Also, one of the little milk cups for the tea had burst and was stinking! We decided to have a mooch about the town centre (IMO - don’t bother, it’s a dump!), then returned for a shower before going to a nearby restaurant for dinner. The shower was very good, and the bath is a great size! After dinner we returned to relax and watch TV before retiring to bed ready for an early morning. Upon entering floor two from the stairway we were greeted with a really strong stench of weed - it was absolutely disgusting! Thankfully once in our room we couldn’t smell it with the door was closed…but still… Now, during the night is when the real problems started!!! I have NEVER had such a bad nights sleep! Firstly, the bed was far too hard…and although I do understand that this is often a personal preference…ouch my hips! Secondly, we didn’t know that there is nightclub outside the hotel, and with it being a Saturday night the music was so loud that the windows shook, and there were people outside shouting and fighting until around 2am! So many sirens headed throughout the night too - like I said, complete dump! Then, sometime around 4am the drain on the bath started making the most horrendous banging and glugging noises - it was so loud it woke both me and my partner up! Finally at 5:30am there was some guy out in the street screaming for the ‘pretty girls to come get him’! That’s it…I was done! After what felt like only a few hours sleep we got up, showered, and left. Checkout was a bit of a process as there was a customer in front of us who wasn’t very happy and was voicing a complaint. The guy at reception seem flustered and annoyed; he didn’t ask how our stay was, and didn’t seem to care! Needless to say, I don’t recommend this hotel! Two stars - one for friendly check in, and one for the room which although needed updating (and cleaning!) was fine for the price paid.

Came here as part of a bus trip, the hotel was very comfortable and it was a very pleasant atmosphere while having drinks at the bar. The evening meal was adequate but lacked taste but the breakfast was excellent

I stay in a lot of different hotels around the country for work and this has been one of the best. The room was clean and perfect for what I needed, treated myself and upgraded to a suite. Breakfast was great, hot and fresh. Good atmosphere in the bar. All the staff were great and always willing to help or even just have a chat. Recommend!

Nice clean comfortable room. Sadly didn't expect rats running round between the main hotel and the family block. Staff advised that pest control are there every week. It clearly isn't working! Bins are next to the courtyard, doors left open. Never again. It horrified me as it's my phobia. Totally horrific for me.

We stayed for one night with a coach party. Would probably not recommend it. The main corridors had some questionable staining on the carpets. Once in the room, we noticed a terrible smell of cigarette smoke, but we were that tired from the trip we didn't question it. There was a few funny marks on the wall also. Shower was nice and hot and breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable. Whole hotel could do with a revamp as looks very dated.
