Wonderful place to stay in Stone Town, located central enough to reach everything you'll need to easily - spice market, Slave museum, ferry terminal and the seafront, with very interesting walks whichever way you choose to go. Noreen is super helpful and, as well as a nice characterful room in a former merchant's house, you have the benefit of the coffee shop on the ground floor, selling wonderful cakes and coffee, and the rooftop seating area, with beautiful views over the city. VERY, VERY BEST of all are the fantastic, exuberant and incredibly friendly staff - under the guidance of the wonderful Philipina - stay here and feel like a local - well, as much as it's possible to!

Charming 8 room B&B in Stone Town. The whole stay was wonderful. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. They set up tours, transfers and even booked me a day room in-house since I had an evening flight on my last day. The food was very good and fresh. The view up on the roof terrace was so pretty and peaceful. Each room is decorated so cute and it was very clean. Would definitely stay here again. It’s close to lots of shops and restaurants. Also, came with a welcome drink of your choice.

We arrived in Stone Town for the last two days of our trip to Zanzibar. We traveled with our three young children. Noreen and the staff at the Zanzibar Coffee House went above and beyond in ensuring our comfort and helping the family feel comfortable. They even let us stay for late checkout until 6pm on the last day since the room wasn't booked since our flight left late and to help with the the kids. The housekeeping is excellent and the rooms very clean. The building is from 1882 and full of history and charm and where decor that is just amazing. Lots of status and interesting books and crannies to explore which we lived.. the rooftop cafe had an investment view and excellent food and coffee. The avocado toast is heavenly. The tours arranged by the hotel were excellent as they have their own tour company- we did a walking tour that they arranged with our children in mind which was wonderful and a sunset cruise on the dhow. The location is excellent to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle of stone town. I highly recommend this hotel for a wonderful experience

In the heart of Stonetown, it’s oozing history and character. Rooms are decorated with locally made furniture, each unique. Full delicious breakfast included. Service is impeccable. Epic coffee selections. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We checked the cafe. That spicy coffee is exceptional! I actually asked him about the recipe and they shared it which was very nice :-) dessert and pastries are diverse and delicious. They also have American style small plates and breakfast items. Definitely recommend! The walk up the stairs to the roof provides worthy view and allows you to burn quite a few calories

The coffee house is a hotel, coffee shop, and roastery all in one. It's located in stone town and offers easy access to all the spots. In addition the building boasts an amazing rooftop view. Historically this place was the house of a minister to the sultan then became a soda factory. The current owner went through painstaking renovations to ensure the hotel could capture the essence of the original home. Finally the service is excellent. The owner is extremely welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the rooms are fantastic. You do feel like you're living in a postcard. Stay here? Or get some coffee. Or both.

Lovely coffee, great views of Zanzibar from the rooftop and a beautiful building. We just stopped over for drinks, ended up buying their coffee blend as I really enjoyed it! Will be back for the beautiful looking cakes.

We stayed at three different hotels in Zanzibar and this was by far the best even if not with pools and at the beach like the others. The service was fantastic. Little things like them turning on the AC in your room before you return in the evening but also a great spice tour and transport organised by the hotel. The rooms are very pretty too. Then there was delicious coffee and food as well. What more do you need

I think we came here 3 times during our 36 hour stay in Zanzibar! Always greeted with a smile by all the lovely staff. The ladies staffing the top floor especially are amazing! Climb up the narrow stairs and grab yourself a seat there with sweeping views and a breeze. Excellent ice latte and ice tea. We really liked the samosa and chutney. WiFi can be a bit erratic though. Same for the credit card terminal which wouldn’t get the signal.. we ended up paying in cash. Overall would recommend 👌

Great location and pretty cool building with a rooftop floor. I am no expert in coffee but really liked my cappuccino:) The chocolate and coffee cake was not great, but good. So IMHO overall a little overpriced, quite possibly as a premium for the location/rooftop ;)

My visit to the Zanzibar Coffee House was nothing short of exceptional. Nestled in the heart of Stone Town, this place is a haven for coffee enthusiasts and foodies alike. The location is perfect, offering a unique blend of the area’s rich history and vibrant culture. The food here is absolutely delightful. Each dish is crafted with care, offering a tantalizing blend of local flavors that are both authentic and innovative. But what truly sets the Zanzibar Coffee House apart is its service. The team here is incredible - they’re not just staff, but more like friends you haven’t met yet. They welcome you with warm smiles and go out of their way to make your experience memorable. Falling in love with the team and their exceptional service is inevitable. It’s clear they love what they do, and it shows in every interaction. I can’t recommend the Zanzibar Coffee House enough. It’s a must-visit for anyone in Stone Town looking for great food, superb coffee, and a genuinely heartwarming experience.

Lovely coffee and Masala tea, the fresh passion fruit juice was great too. The chocolate brownie was served warm and was heavenly but we regretted choosing the carrot cake as it was very dense, a little bland and could probably have had done with a lot longer in the oven

The rooftop cafe is exceptional. Fantastic savory crepes and truly the best coffee. Add the views and the breeze, no better place to stop by to cool down and have a bite.

One of the highlights of our time in Tanzania. Amazing staff, delicious food and best coffee, beautiful rooms and special rooftop terrace. Great walkable location too in the middle of stone town.

Nice coffee but we waited more than an hour for our food order. When we decided to go because we were done waiting and I wanted to pay the coffee I was asked to stand in the take away line. When I told them we were done waiting and want to leave there was no apology, they just told me how much the coffee was. I saw it was a busy and hectic moment, but still really not the way to treat the guest. Not happy and still hungry.

If you love coffee and you do not visit the rooftop and order a spice coffee you are doing yourself a disservice. The atmosphere is incredible, the coffee is unique. Writing the review as I'm drinking their coffee, could not wait.

The best Coffee House on the Zanzibar Island! I absolutely love this place for the taste of their coffee (wide variety of choices), delicious pastry, beautiful interior and most of all excellent service. Thank you so much Zanzibar Coffee House for brightening my mornings while I'm living in Zanzibar. Always a great experience visiting you!

We came to the coffee house for the first time during a tour through stones town and have been back every day since. We tried a bunch of different pastries, cakes, and the avocado toast. Everything was delicious but our favorite was the banana pie. All the different coffee drinks were amazing as well.

This quiet coffee house has a surprisingly large seating space across an interior and rooftop dining areas. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even helping us get pointed in the right direction after stopping in for a bite. The coffee selection is terrific if slightly expensive. The desserts are incredible and inexpensive for the portion size. I can't recommend the coffee banana smoothie highly enough!

Nice atmosphere though not very bright inside ( a little dark) but decent coffee (cappuccinos and flat whites) and good cake. Came back several times. Good service too.

Best espresso in Zanzibar. It’s really hard to find a good espresso in the island, but here at the Zanzibar Coffee House, they got it right. Very nice roof top seating area. The cakes and sweets are so good. The service was excellent and fast.

This place is a true gem in the heart of stone town. The long narrow stairs to the roof terrace are plenty, but part of the beauty, and in the end you get to sample great coffee, generous breakfast & panoramic views. A must visit.

The service at this hotel is exemplary. The staff were all very personable, making me feel like they were always delighted to see me and happy to help me any way they could. The rooftop breakfast was lovely. Be aware, if you have a problem with stairs this is not the best place for you.

Would never have found this lovely coffee house without our guide, vast selection of coffee ground in front of you then served. Also selling the same to take home. Shop was very busy as was the coffee house. Don't think I'd find it again, off the beaten track.

Lovely coffee shop set in the middle of stone town. They have alternative milk for VEGANS , we had ice lattes with Oat Milk and they also had a vegan banana mouse cake. The view of the city from the rooftop was cool as well , and we got some nice photos while walking up to it from inside. Overall the coffee was nice but we waited a while ... the cake was okay but nothing special , it needed to be sweeter imo.

Fantastic Coffee, Excellent management and staff, Beautiful location and setting. We only had the coffee here, but it was the best coffee on our one week trip to Tanzania / Zanzibar. The only reason I haven't rated it a 5, is because it was really warm indoors, even with a pedestal fan working right beside us. Not being able to cool down from the 35-37C temperature outside, left us uncomfortable even while sipping on iced coffees. This however is only a problem in peak summer, it would be lovely at other times of the year.

The Zanzibar Coffee House Cafe was excellent! We ate breakfast there twice during our stay in Zanzibar and the food is great! I strongly recommend the Zanzibar Spiced coffee, and bringing some beans home to extend the vacation experience a little longer.

An authority for all kind of coffee lovers. When exploring Stone town you feel thirsty and in need of energy just make a stop in this wonderful coffee temple and you will not regret it. All kind of pastries and good food you could desire and they also got a beautiful panoramic terrace and rooms (good to know).

Good place to stay right in the heart of Stone Town. A bit tough to get to as access for cars isn’t possible down the windy streets. This can prove difficult if you have luggage plus kids. However, food is lovely, esp breakfast and the location is super convenient. History of the building is also fascinating

We did not stay in the hotel, but went for a drink and piece of cake there. The cake is fabulous and you get different sorts! Give it a try if you are there and want to have a break from the busy city. The coffee is gorgeous! You can pay with card, local currency or in dollars. Sometimes it gets very busy, so pole pole. Very friendly staff and clean toilets are available.

Wow! What an amazing cafe. Winding staircase takes you up several floors to an incredibly stunning rooftop. But the coffee has to be the highlight - rich and fresh. Apparently they have their own organic farm in mainland Tanzania where they grow Starbucks certified organic coffee. Had a pleasant chat with Heerna the assistant manager over a cappuccino. I’ve uploaded a set of videos of the place given how stunned I was with the place (google doesn’t let you upload one long video).

Unique roof top cafe Vanilla milkshake was delicious (I guess they use whole vanilla beans in the shake) But the spiced coffee tasted like spiced flavored water not coffee. But the view and wind on the roof top was awesome

I’ve spent 3 days at the Zanzibar Coffee House, I really enjoyed every part of this place, the location, the amazing rooftop to catch the sunrise and sunset, best coffee in the area, wide variety of breakfast options and a very friendly staff. This combination made my overall experience highly recommended and hopefully I will visit this place again :).

Perfect place to stay in Stone. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the service, breakfast, coffee, tours, and overall experience. It was an amazing place to stay. The Coffee House has some fairly steep steps to go upstairs and to the rooftop. . Our room had a moderate staircase and a lovely woman carried our bags up for us. The rooftop breakfast and coffee was extra good. Latte had a heart design! We couldn’t have been more please with the service and experience

The rooftop is a trip back in time. Sipping on spiced coffee you can appreciate the surrounding minarets and church spires in a place that evokes the imagination. One of the coolest spots I’ve found in Stone Town.

Staying at this hotel has been a great experience. To start with, the staff are extremely helpful and really kind. The rooms was beautiful and spacious. Great view and I loved it. Food was delicious and overall I really enjoyed my stay.

Very cosy and unique coffee house! I loved the rooftop pavilion which transported me back in time. I had a crepe and the spice coffee, both tasted amazing! I would really recommend this place!
