Quite an impressive building. Especially for the size of the town of Xanten. The church's architecture is gothic and the religion practiced within the church is Catholicism. I find the access to the church to be quite adventurous; at least if you come walking from the pedestrian alley. The only thing I did not like was the lack of expositions and due to an upcoming mass we were not able to sightsee the church from within

An amazing Cathedral. Beautiful and historic. I spent hours here in total amazement.

The story of the church goes back to Roman times when a soldier named Victor and serving in a Roman legion refused to sacrifice to the Roman gods. He was supposedly executed for this and later his bones were recovered and buried in a chapel in this place. The church now stands roughly in the place where the chapel once stood. The inside has beautiful carved wooden panels with religious moitifs In front of the church are some nice sculptures

The old ancient roman city xanten is beautiful small town in Nrw Germany holding an ancient history of Romans. It has a beautiful cathedral which is second largest cathedral in Nrw after the köln.
