Hi just want to say thank you to Anekie and her team that was closing tonight. The gym had to close at 9pm but my lift had not arrived as yet. The closing staff stayed with me till 9.25pm waiting to ensure I was safe once i got into the vehicle then only they left to their vehicles. Great customer service and care for their clients. Thanks so much guys for caring. Means a lot! Great gym, equipment very new and modern, music perfect for gym. Hygiene and cleaning on point! Great gym 5 stars all round!

Great vibe and look, but when you spend some time there all the flaws come out. Their maintenance is definitely not their top priority. Every month since Desember there has been something in the line of maintenance wrong, aircons not working, no water, no HOT water, no loadshedding plans to keep the gym open, machines broken, treadmills off etc. So if you are merely joining for the workout, then Ignite is the place to be place is, but if you need a gym fitting into your busy life schedule and convenience then I would not recommend.

I had a very rocky start with Ignite Fitness, first they made a total hash job of the debit order, then they proceeded to ignore me; that is until I lost my composure and made a rather large noise in both the community and online review sites. I attribute that to the fact that they had just opened the Somerset West branch, and that there were initial issues with staff not sure of protocol. That being said, I haven't encountered any further admin related issues. With regard to the gym itself, as others have stated, there's definitely a maintenance issue. Padding is ripped, weight plates have lost their centre rings, pins missing, etc. The equipment, particularly the cardio machines, are of an already inferior grade. I'm 6ft1, and even I find the equipment leaves me feeling cramped and claustrophobic. Realistically speaking, it's not a bad gym, it's just sad as it started out looking like it had the potential to be a viable alternative to Virgin Active, which has morphed from a gym chain into a foo foo health club for soccer moms, mid tier office execs, and their entitled spawn. So, speaking as a bodybuilder, and someone who travels regularly to different countries for both business and pleasure, "I've trained at worse facilities, I've trained at far superior facilities, but I've never been as disappointed by a gym chain before..... because they have the capability to be so much more."

the place has a great aesthetic to it if your mostly about your social media life. At first glance this gym looks like your higher end sports car. Sadly its far from true this is your knock-off version wanna be sport car. Grab a cup of tea and don't worry the water stations are not cooled i am sure this is a plumbing issue where the water is connected to the hot water pipe. you probably think its to compensate for the Atlantic breeze that will brush on your forehead, not quite. See it will cost the gym too much money to put on the air-conditioner and coupled with amazingly motivated people you will be met with a great slap of "aromas". Don't worry its not all too bad, if your not really the social type, the gym equipment is so close to each other you cant help but make friends with the person next to you, your practically hugging already. So far i haven't experienced the service, if the owners cuts off from your basic gym necessities, I cant expect them to be friendly at the wages they probably getting. Besides the terrible warm water, having to gym in a sauna (signs of a cheapskate owner). This gym will have to do for now but the background on my gym selfies will look great. p.s review is subject to change (highly doubt from the looks of the other reviews)

The positives are that there are many classes and the gym is cheap. The negatives are that they don't have any plan when it comes to loadshedding, their weights are literally falling apart and their overall maintenance is terrible. The seated calf raise machine took 4 months to fix it (People fix my car in 1 day but they take 4 months for a simple machine). Also, they dont have rules like time limits with machines. Also, only 1 leg press machine in a big gym like that. Honestly don't know how they have 4.5 rating. Most of it is probably fake.

As a paying customer who has been coming here for about over a year, as well as a competitive bodybuilder who is studying exercise science I can say this place is definitely not worth it. I really enjoyed it when I first joined, and it's definitely a decent gym but over the last few months everything has gotten progressively worse. They no longer are doing regular maintenance on equipment, nor do they offer free day passes anymore under any circumstances unless there is an open week (which never really happens anymore...). Almost all the padding on the equipment is cracked and worn (which used to be replaced regularly) most notably the lying leg curl and hack squat machine which have degraded to the point that they can actually ruin your socks and even cut you, which is a huge risk of infection from the sweat and bacteria around. Not to mention one of the drywall panels with electrical wiring fell off a couple weeks ago and they literally just moved the equipment back and put tape around the area and just left it. Unless you somehow get a really good special, you will essentially be paying the same as a virgin active (which has swimming pools and saunas, and ignite doesn't) and what you get is a place that doesn't do regular maintenance and doesn't allow you in basically ¼ of the gym when there is a class happening. TL;DR : Not worth the price by a long shot, potential health risks and they don't even turn the AC on anymore. Also their cancellation policies is absolutely just fraud.

Gym is okay, but just know they will bill you forever. I had a 1 year contract and moved after the first year. I gave my notice and got confirmation of the cancellation. However two months later I am still getting debited and am having to take legal action to get the debit order stopped. STAY AWAY!

Nice vibey, motivating music. Basically feels like you're in a club😅 All the staff are friendly and always greet you and the facility is always clean and neat. They also have spray and paper towels all around for if you want to clean the equipment/benches

I've been going to gyms for over 30 years and can honestly say that this is the worst gym I have ever been in. Flimsy equipment that keeps on breaking down, no lights during loadshedding, people are allowed to text and even talk on their phones while on equipment, the locker room was designed by someone who has never taken a shower at a gym. The place clearly has no money as they cannot even replace panels that fell down from the wall. I'm leaving as soon as possible.

Great gym. Huge variety of equipment, and great fitness classes to join. Some equipment is damaged and in poor condition. The hygiene practice is poor, equipment isn’t wiped down or cleaned at certain intervals, so equipment is usually sticky from previous user. Sanitisation stations are few and far from equipment.

So far, so good. Friendly service, clean, good variety of equipment and weights. Tip for management: Please add labels to the weight racks so we know where to put the weights back, in order. Also the benches and racks can do with smaller weight plates too. 500g, 1.25kg

We joined, that should say it all. Friendly staff, not stuck up like the other big gyms, fantastic equipment and good ambiance. Clean, tidy and neat, looking forward to working out there.

This place is DAMN AWESOME. thanks to the absolute professional, friendly and helpful approach from Richard Kelly my wife and I had a fantastic time. An abundance of equipment, clean environment, trainers are visible and willing to help and gym members have respect for one another. If you stay this side and need a playground this is the place. Keep debiting my account after I have cancelled my contract and unresponsive about refunding me. Be very careful taking a contract with Ignite. You can get much cheaper and better alternatives than Ignite.

Awesome gym, been here for over a year and absolutely love it. More than enough equipment, equipment in good condition and staff are always friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Cancelation fee for 2 year contract is R7500 so the only option for when you move is to change the ownership of the account. Atleast that is only R200. But please dont go with that because they don't cancel the ownership from your name they just open a new account for the person who takes over the new account and then deduct from both bank accounts. Accounting service is horrible and Noone is capable of assisting you when double deductions are made. 100% would never recommend this gum to anyone.

The manager team is horrible . I also told them the service is bad and we have to follow up for information and they replied with is 👍 This is so bad not even sorry for the inconvenience or anything. Please Educate your team ❤️

Join early last week, was told I can only start after receiving my card which will take max 2 days. Well 5 days later still nothing, and despite paying I can't gym. Not the best of starts. Sorry it is now a week and I am still waiting so sorry no luck yet.

Really enjoy working out at this gym. Morning crowd are quite friendly people. Staff are very helpful and they serve good coffee for an after workout thirst quencher.

Cheaper than Virgin Active, cool trainers, everything works as it should, there are classes, toilets are clean, can’t complain

Nice vibe, instructors are helpful. Classes are fun. But they need to have a variety classes. Pilates not often enough. No yoga.

Feel like dying on a daily basis when exercising as the aircons never work, I have complained about this on many occasions, are you trying to save up on electricity. This ridiculous! Musy be against the health and safety standards. Please fix this issue, it has been on going since I joined in beginning Feb 2022.

Great gym. The lights and music gives you a nightclub vibe. Huge variety of equipment! Highly recommend this gym to anyone.

As others mentioned, do not trust any reviews over 1 star. This place lacks serious maintenance and doesn't give a flying feather about doing anything about loadshedding. To elaborate: The roof leaks during rain, the aircons are never working properly, every third or so plate-loaded or cable machine is wrecked in some way and has been wrecked for months. If there is load shedding during dark times they kick you out or deny you access even if there is enough natural light to light up the gym, and they don't bother getting backup lighting or generators. When we ask why, we are told "Because this isn't Virgin Active". They're right though, so I guess I'll be moving there.
