Great service and good quality fish and chips. Tasty and good value. Overall great experience; I would go back and recommend to others. It was starting to get busy as we headed there as they opened up their evening service. A good sign is locals appear to frequently head there too. Worth a visit and try for sure. Tip is the chips are replenish-able upon request at not extra charge. Also they take the NHS blue light discount.

Dining in this fish chips shop with friends before covid. Ordered cod and haddock with my girl, waiting for 15-20 mins to have all food ready. Batter is not crispy and regular cod £8.50 is a bit small but everything is alright!

Lunch The premier fish & chip shop. We know it's very popular so we decided to get there early. On arrival about 12.30 there was a queue out the door. Not early enough as they open at 11.30. The wait wasn't too long, maybe 10 minutes or so. We ordered THE LUNCHTIME SPECIAL £12.95 Prime cod Unlimited, freshly fried chips, home baked roll and butter, Fred's mushy peas, plus a pot of tea or cup of filter coffee or a choice of soft drinks. Including free refills of tea or filter coffee. Save up to £6.00. Available 11.30 am 2.00pm. Service was friendly and quick. They need to be with so many wanting their fill of superb Fish & Chips. Lunch is extremely good value, taking into account the Unlimited chips & drinks. Which you don't really need as the portions are very generous. Well worth a visit even though there might be a queue. Or get there earlier than we did.

Great fish and chips! Have still not had better fish and chips then here after trying it few years ago. Went back yesterday after visiting Bournemouth and the The quality and consistency considering how busy they are both on takeaway and eat in. Very polite friendly staff if you have time to wait for table and sit inside it’s unlimited refills on chips!

A proper fish and chip restaurant. We got a good table as soon as we walked in. We we're served very quickly, we chose "Fred's Feast" for £17 we had a generous portion of cod, chips and peas, a glass of wine, half a small baguette, a cup of tea or coffee and 2 jugs of water, still & sparkling. I have to say, it was an amazing meal. Cooked to perfection, not greasy, and very tasty. The service was exceptional. The loos we're very clean. We will definitely vist again.

I always drop by for a sit down fish and chips dinner when I visit Bournemouth or Poole. The service is impeccable. The food is is lovely mainly because the quality standard of their ingredients is top notch. I love their bread and butter. Chips and coffee have free refills. But, I can't even finish one serving. It's understandably popular so you might have to wait in the waiting area for a bit.

A traditional fish and chips restaurant in Bournemouth. The staff are superb and cheerful attending to customers with a high attention to detail. Food is freshly cooked to order, and the batter is light. The waitress said my cod was being cooked again because the tail was broken off, demonstrating quality and care to detail to which I said don't worry so not only did my original cod arrive but also to my surprise another as well! The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere, setting itself apart from other fish and chip shops. A special thank you to Vicky, and Melissa who looked after us. You can't reserve tables, so I would advise arriving early in the evening. Otherwise, expect up to 1 hours wait. On street parking only. Certainly one of the best fish and chip restaurants in the UK.

The best cod and chips I tasted . Batter was crisp and thin, fish was super fresh. Service was first class, all the staff was super polite and friendly. We went on a Tuesday afternoon, didn't have to wait for a table. The deco was traditional and very clean. The wife and I will definitely eat there again when we visit Bournemouth.

We visited her 20+ years ago, & it's not changed 1 bit, food is hot tasty and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend if you like your fish & chips. They also offer Unlimited Chips!

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life! The batter is so light and so thin it was perfectly wrapped around my fish. We tried the cod, haddock and hake and they were all very fresh and delicious. You can get unlimited chips if you order one of the mains when dining in, but we didn’t take advantage of it. They also gave complementary still or sparkling water which I thought was a nice touch. The only downside is that the queue is very long. We were told we had to wait for 20 minutes but it ended up to be 35 minutes.

Heard a lot about chez Fred and was very excited to try out the fish & chips. Turns out we were not disappointed! Really good fish and batter weren’t too thick. Come in huge portion! Great value, great service and excellent ambience to dine in. Would be back for sure whenever there’s a chance.

A superb fish and chips restaurant! The staff here are really welcoming and attentive, we got seated quickly and we had our orders taken shortly after. The restaurant itself is well decorated. There is a good selection of fish, with specials and catch of the days. There is an option for unlimited chips, which I obviously went for to make the most of this amazing curry sauce that I got on the side. Other condiments come with the meal, but the curry sauce is worth every penny. The haddock I had was seasoned well and the batter was crisp and crunchy. We also had the soft serve ice cream and it was a lovely way to finish the meal, being a refreshing pallette cleanser. I would come back here for the curry sauce alone.

Having moved recently from London we thought we would give Chez Fred a try on a neighbour recommendation. What a excellent decision. We dined in and opted for the Lunchtime Special which at £12.95 was superb value when you get Cod- unlimited chips- mushy peas-bread roll-sauces-unlimited tea/coffee&water. The service is great and the food cooked to perfection and also the decor and cleanliness is amazing. Could easily be a regular go to place but the waistline would be expanding rapidly.

Cod and chips lunchtime special. Served with mushy peas. Bread roll and tea or coffee included. Lovely white fish with this crispy batter...it was delicious. You can have extra chips if you would like them as well!

We have just had a lovely fish lunch deal at Chez Fred's. Their maitre d took our names and we waited for only 10 mins for a table. The restaurant is obviously incredibly popular. We were served by Marcie who was polite and helpful with great care to our needs. I had a cod lunch with unlimited chips (which is a great idea as it meant that they didn't cram loads of chips into my plate, which always puts me off). I also had normal peas not mushy. I had a small glass of wine and then a pot of tea after for £17.95. Excellent value. I highly recommend this restaurant and this was definitely the best fish and chips I've ever had. Thank you.

Top quality fish and chips with a great level of service. Very friendly and lots of regular locals eating there. We loved the place!

This is by far one of my favourite places for Fish & Chips; it's rare that there's never a queue outside which goes to show how popular it is amongst visitors and locals. Staff are warm and friendly and the restaurant atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and well decorated. As for the food, the photos speak for themselves; fish batter delicate and light and chips delicious and fluffy. Service was top notch; we set off early from Gloucestershire to make sure we didn't miss lunch service on new year's eve! If you're in the area Chez Fred is definitely worth the visit (and wait) - also accepts Blue Light Card.
