ER
DEPARTMENT:
Do
not
go
here
for
pain.
They
will
not
help
you.
It
seems
like
their
policy.
After
my
experience,
I
discovered
a
lot
of
stories
my
family
had
to
share,
too.
I
went
to
the
ER
at
4am
for
SEVERE
pain,
I
thought
I
might
die,
from
gastritis,
or
sepsis.
They
gave
me
a
GI
cocktail
but
it
did
not
help,
and
I
threw
it
up
immediately.
They
told
me
āThe
ER
is
not
a
substitute
for
a
gastro,
we
canāt
do
anything
to
help
you
here.
We
canāt
give
you
anything
for
pain.ā
They
gave
me
a
shot
for
nausea,
but
I
continued
throwing
up
after.
The
doctor
did
not
ask
if
I
had
continued
throwing
up.
They
did
not
have
any
heating
pads
for
my
back
or
ribs,
and
didnāt
offer
me
even
a
shot/suppository
of
Tylenol
(since
I
couldnāt
keep
anything
down).
They
also
did
not
look
at
my
vomit
to
check
for
blood,
and
I
did
see
blood
clots.
Eventually
I
was
writhing,
sobbing,
vomiting,
in
my
room,
and
pleading
with
the
nurse
to
give
me
anything
for
pain.
The
doctor
came
back
and
said
he
canāt
give
me
anything.
It
was
a
traumatic
experience,
and
while
I
understand
maybe
they
canāt
treat
gastritis,
I
donāt
like
how
I
was
treated,
seemingly
without
empathy.
They
do
not
understand
the
severity
of
the
pain.
I
left
the
ER
asap
so
I
could
get
home
and
self-treat
with
Tylenol,
heating
pads,
hot
shower
etc.
I
was
still
throwing
up
as
I
was
leaving.
The
pain
stayed
at
a
8-10
for
12
hours,
after
vomiting
the
GI
cocktail.
Itās
now
been
40
hours
and
I
am
still
in
pain.
I
have
slept
maybe
2
hours
and
I
havenāt
eaten
anything.
I
am
seeing
a
gastro
tomorrow
but
this
whole
thing
is
just
insane
to
me.
I
sincerely
believe
I
should
have
been
hospitalized.
I
will
go
to
Memorial
Hermann
next
time.
UPDATE:
I
went
to
Methodist
today
and
they
helped
me,
gave
me
pain
killers,
did
a
CT
scan
and
an
ultrasound,
and
said
I
need
surgery
TODAY
to
have
my
gallbladder
removed.
It
was
so
inflamed,
they
could
not
see
gallstones
because
it
was
so
thick.
It
was
SEVERELY
INFECTED.
My
ER
experience
at
St.
Lukeās
was
such
a
nightmare,
this
is
still
all
so
insane
to
me.
