The dam was a perfect place to see the morning sun arrive even with the thick fog. Several walkers and eagles flying around enjoying the nature views. You can drive across the dam and get the best of both worlds.

Easy trail, some grills, and beautiful scenery. Perfect for a quiet picnic. Dog friendly as long as the dog is on a leash. Many fisher's seen but didn't see any actual caught fish so not sure if it's catch and release or if the fish took the day off and weren't biting. Didn't see any playground but plenty of grass for kids to run on with excess energy.

The weir dam helps oxygenate the river to keep it healthy. It's at the parking lot for Osceola island. The area has always been clean while we were there. There is an interpretive display and places to picnic at this area. It is only one part of the area around South Holston Dam. It's all simply beautiful. There are hiking trails, a fishing pier and paths to walk on here as well.

This is a wonderful place to go. There is a 1.5 mile walking trail mostly shaded with picture worthy scenery. Every time I visit I see something new an owl, a beaver, a deer, a snake, a fish, a fish, a fish,a duck, a geese, and many birds and butterflies. If you like to fish there are many fishing spots around the island off trail and up and down the rivers edge. Sometimes you can hear the roaring of the generating waters. They have picnic tables with grills and a lovely bridge at which you can look down and see tons of brown and rainbow trout. The water is icy cold but that gives a nice cool breeze while you walk around.

Beautiful trail! The main trail is about 1 1/2 miles altogether and is paved and gravel. Very easy walk and fairly cool due to the river beside the trail. There are three other trails very near by and they're all a moderate walk. Plenty of wildlife and plants to see. Everything is well maintained and very clean. Highly recommend!

The weir is ancient technology but perfectly used in this amazing setting. It buffers the river below, slowly allowing water in from the powerful surges from the Dam. Further the water is oxygenated as it moves though the weir, helping life feed down river.

My wife and I were married in the center of the walking bridge here, 14 years ago, so this is a special place for us. The river is beautiful, and it looks different every time you visit. The walking trails are well maintained and not difficult. I advise you to pack your drinks and snacks, and handle your bathroom duties before you arrive. They've also built a very nice handicap accessible fishing dock.

This is an incredible place to visit. Very well kept, clean, etc. Clean bathrooms with sinks. Picnic tables with grills and trash cans. Excellent fishing for trophy brown trout and rainbow trout. Nice walking trail that goes over a bridge and around an island, approximately half mile I believe. Trail is also suitable for bicycles. Great nature views, usually see some sort of wildlife. Path I'd very well kept and marked and has benches along the way to rest, relax, or just take in the scenery. Mostly wading or bank fishing but last week I did see a new boat ramp??? Maybe for canoes and kayaks or small boats? I meant to go look but simply forgot. Great for kids, or elderly. Also the road goes across South Holston Dam so be sure to drive up there for even more incredible views!
