If this place just served appetizers and drinks it would be five stars. Spin dip and all of our drinks were great. The main entree food we got all around was pretty awful. Ribeye was super thin and definitely not cooked to medium rare. Server saw it and ignored it (I got the impression they were pretty aware of how bad the entree food quality was). Mashed potatoes were literally crumbling from how dry they were. Similar issues with the other entrees ordered on quality and taste. For the price it definitely should have been better. Would go here again if passing through for spin dip and drinks but wouldn’t order food unless it’s priced for the microwave quality it appeared to be.

Carolina Ale never fails to impress me. I’ve been twice and each time the service was amazing and the food was even better. ALWAYS get the spinach dip as an appetizer, but it’s big enough to be the whole meal. I tried the plant based burger which wasn’t very good, but that’s just one i didn’t like out of the many other food items they have.

REALLY BAD WINGS!! on Valentine's Day. It was a togo order for delivery I'm not sure where to begin. First off, the fry oil was burnt, all I tasted was burnt flour, and of course the wings are very dark and dry. Ordered honey buffalo that tasted like regular buffalo and general tso was just plain burnt fried chicken nasty and dry. Never tossed in the sauce. All this for $26 at 8pm on Valentine's Day for a dozen wings. Never again!! I know the kitchen knew the oil was bad and needed changing, it was past filtering it.....why wasn't it done??? We just wanted a late snack! There's no excuse!

We ate inside, it was kind of loud in the bar area but it always is here. Typical bar/pub food nachos, fried food, sandwiches, salads,etc. Lots of TVs to watch a large bar area and a big area for outdoor eating that is covered.

THE FOOD WAS BURNED THE SALAD WAS MOSTLY STALKS ! IT TOOK 2 HOURS TO GET IT AT 5PM. THEY WERE NOT EVEN CROWDED.WE ORDERED AS SOON AS WE ARRIVED BUT SUPPER TOOK UNTIL 7PM TO GET TO THE TABLE !!THE SALMON WAS BURNED BLACK EVEN THOUGH THE WAITRESS ASKED HOW I'D LIKE IT PREPARED WHICH WAS MEDIUM TO RARE! I LEFT VERY HUNGRY AND TOTALLY UNHAPPY WITH THE AMOUNT I HAD TO PAY FOR NOTHING EDIBLE!! I DON'T MIND PAYING FOR FOOD IF THERE IS ACTUALLY FOOD THERE BUT WHAT I RECEIVED WAS NOT WHAT I ORDERED!! I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!

Friday was my first time dining at Carolina Ale House in Summerville. My boyfriend has been there before and recommended it! The first time that we tried to dine there the wait was over 30 minutes for a party of two guests, but Friday when we tried again we went early in the evening and the wait was quoted 15 minutes. That was doable. Let me just say it might be better to include smaller parties in the reservations. I called and the host informed me that they don't have reservations for small parties, but she was confident enough that she could get our party of 2 a table. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which came with pita slices and chips and I give that 5 stars alone. It was so rich and thick and savory. I wish I had a picture to show, but that would not do it justice! I ordered 2 cod tacos and my boyfriend ordered the chicken tenders. The server asked me how many Tacos I wanted 2 or 3 which are different prices and I said 2 well she brought 3 and fair enough charged for 3. We ordered some drinks which were okay I got the margarita special and my boyfriend got a strawberry mixed drink. Overall I will dine again, I enjoyed myself! I do have a question how can anyone else play pool if the same patrons take up the table for a while? There are only 2 pool tables...wish I could have played pool too!

This is a good place. Nice selection of beers. Food is decent but not great. Convenient to a lot of hotels nearby. The service was a little slow at first but got better as the place got more crowded.

Excellent ribs, frickles, and shrimp! My friends were impressed with the burritos. Slow service and very overpriced on everything. Worst fries I have had in years. My coleslaw container was LESS than half full!

The Utter Chef was absolutely phenomenal. Learned that the Utter Chef is 98 years old and has been married 75 times to 60 different men and 15 different women. Hands down the best cook.

Asked for 28 day rybeye medium rare loaded potato and grilled shrimp... charged for this.... I got an over cooked well done steak no shrimp loaded boxed mashed potatoes... over priced trash... disrespectful at best...I also added a picture on how to cook steaks....you're welcome!

I had the zingers, and we shared the fried pickles and pretzel sticks appetizers. Everything was very good; definitely better than what you'd expect for bar food. Our waitress was also great, she was very attentive. The food came out very quick and exactly as ordered.

Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food is average at most. The beer selection is very good. If you’re looking for a chill atmosphere with good beer this is decent option. Just don’t expect the food to be anything special.

Looks like a fun place but the food was just ok. Ordered fish and chips which wasn't tasty and a full rack of ribs, which was cold. MW helped but it just wasn't delicious. Prolly if I ate inside it would have been a bit better, but for takeout, not great.

Good food! Not over the top. Had Chili came out cold but was descent in flavor. Had the Salad with Chicken Tenders. Tenders were a little over cooked and dry but alright with honey mustard dressing. Service was good several bartenders always on top asking if we needed anything. Do have like 60+ beers on tap!!!!!!

Came in at 6 and sat at bar, its 620 and nobody has even acknowledged me yet. There's a lady that's been finger screwing a computer for 10 minutes and runs off then comes back and hasn't even looked at the bar patrons and what's worse there is 4 more girls talking to cooks in the kitchen area. I came through here last year and it was awesome. Must be a new manager now or something. Horrible service canceled my work event since that's why I came in the first place to rent out entire place for 120 people.

My fiancé and i had a dinner date. 30 min awaiting a place for two. It was packed but multiple tables to sit for only 2 people. Once seated we placed our order. Once his food came out an hour later, it was cold. And im almost done with my order and still awaiting my side of shrimp. Smh so its now almost 10pm and i just received my shrimps. Over cooked like a mfka.

Even though it was busy on Sunday, we were seated right away. The staff are attentive, even with a fully seated area. The music is refreshingly modern. The drinks are better than the food, which is standard bar thoroughfare. The atmosphere, drinks, and service are the highlight of this place. The quality of the food seems to match the price, except for the salads which appeared underwhelming and disproportionately heavy on iceberg lettuce. Great place to socialize, would recommend for singles, couples, and families alike.

The appetizer was good, we got the buffalo chicken dip except the chips were stale. Food was average at best. My recommendation as stated in another review is just go there if you want some booze and an appetizer, leave the meals for another restaurant.

They are understaffed, according to their manager, who was forced to seat us and take our order due to our incompetent server. The server is rude and so is the manager. The server ran around us for twenty minutes gathering other orders and collecting dishes for peoples whos food was received and finished while our glasses were emptied and staying that way. Then they didnt have what we did order when we were finally able to. Ive never had service this awful. I guess Im eating lemons for lunch.

My drink was great! Long Island Ice Tea. It was Wednesday Special! Waitress was amazing!

This is a dope!! spot to get some late night real food!! And it was oh so good. Oh yeah the drinks too 😁😜. The server was friendly and accommodating as well.

I will say after covid I know the restaurant industry struggled w dedicated employees but the first thing I have noticed about the Ale House is the great service of the wait staff. I was in twice in the past week w a party of 5 and 6 and so happy that smiles and personalities are making a comeback. Food can always be better and prices can always be lower but it was a great night out both trips. Thank you Madison you did a great job and I can't remember the other server but kudos to both.

Atmosphere is nice in that they embrace local colleges with interesting items. The service was great and quite affordable. Great and different fries, get those and I did not have the slaw but will order it next time.

Hello! Just wanted to let you know my experience last night. We had a group of 8. We picked Carolina Ale to celebrate! We arrived at 4:30, we barely anyone seated in the restaurant. We were told it would be 2 hours to be seated. We did not like that but all of our party had arrived and we honestly thought how could it possibly be that long. We put our name and waited and waited and waited. We were told there was ONLY one table in the place to sit us. They could not put two table together in the bar area. While we waited others came in and were seated immediately. We could not go to the patio area because it was closed. The hostess was so extremely rude it was ridiculous. Then again, she was like 16 years old with a manager with her who said it was his first day. Awful Anyways they finally sat us at 6:05. We order drinks and the waitress does not know how to put in drinks on her little computer thingy. Plus she can’t bring it to us because is not of age. Anyways, I order a Varsity burger and she says they have no mayonnaise. She then says are fries okay? I said do you have ketchup? She said we didn’t for two days but we do now. Yeah!!! We get our food which as good but my burger was raw. I just ate what I could. Then we get ready to leave and we had 3 couples paying and two individuals. Well forget it! We would have been there another 45 minutes. We paid with one credit card and left at 8:30. Wow!!!! What an absolutely horrible celebration. Our waitress said she was new to waitressing as he had hostessed for two weeks. I was so embarrassed to say I recommended this restaurant. Someone needs to get this place straight! We will NEVER be back except to visit the bar IF you can ever order a drink. Sent from my iPhone
