    Overlooked by the very scenic Penshaw Monument this is a great place to get out for a walk with family or pets.. Lovely footpaths, ponds, nature and wildlife to keep your eyes entertained along the way. A cafe is on site for snacks and meals and an ice cream van is also here in sunny days... A must see ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Large country park with great paths ideal for prams and wheelchairs etc. Large lake with smaller water like fishing lake and lily ponds. The park has a amphitheatre in the middle also cafe and toilets ๐Ÿšป on site. Great sculptures are the park aswell as a miners memorial garden. A must visit while at penshaw monument.

This country park is fantastic. So much space and so much to see. The views from different parts of the park are amazing. There is plenty of free parking and a huge kids play area. We spent 2 hours here and could easily have spent longer

Lovely place for a walk with the dogs, and the other half. Free parking, and although car parks were busy, you don't see many people because of the sheer size of the place. Quite a flat walk, but nearly managed to walk 6 miles. Will be back again to have a venture up to Penshaw monument. Dropped a star, as there's plenty of bins, so why do dog walkers pick up their poos and dump them??? Shame the amount of full dog poo bags around the place, no need for it.

The playground is great for kids. It's not getting the full 5 stars as it can get very uddy and full of puddles, even at the height of summer. The rest of the park is great for walks, there are toilet facilities and a cafรฉ.

Wonderful park. Large and open, even on busy days you can walk for a while without encountering anyone else. Beautiful bird ponds and a great view of Penshaw Monument.

Lovely big park with views over towards Penshaw. Very family friendly with a kids play area, cafe, toilets and loads of exercise space for dogs etc. Four separate pond/lake areas where there is an abundance of wildfowl. One of my favourite parks to visit.

Lovely country park with excellent facilities. Well maintained. Brilliant kids park and cafe. Right next to Penshaw monument of you're feeling extra energetic to include a hill climb in your walk. Great for dogs with plenty of dog bins and seating. Wonderful sculptures around the park and various routes to suite all. Both a small mountain bike course and skate park as well. One of our favourites for walking the dog.

Nice park, fresh air, few people and few woods more of open grass land. The Penshaw monument is a must see architecture building in the 1840โ€™s replica to a greek temple (wiki).

Lovely place for a walk. Toilets a bit basic, but functional. Will be better when cafe reopened. Has ice cream van. Penshaw tea rooms opposite are really good, 900 steps from Herrington country park

This is a lovely park. Includes a skateboard area. Mini lakes with at least a couple of dozen swans as well as other wild birds. Loads of footpaths to stroll down at your leisure. The cafe is having a major refurbishment but food is available opposite at the foot of Penshaw Monument Hill. Love Lily's now open. Worth a try

I thought it was now common knowledge that we shouldn't be feeding bread to birds! And, indeed, there are signs here at Herrington Park, asking visitors NOT to. (See my photo). Yet... I saw several families today, with whole loaves, instructing their kids throw bread everywhere!!! Please read the signs in parks and reserves before feeding ANY animal. If you want to teach your kids to look after wildlife, please do some research first. Take birdseed next time. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‚

Lovely area and walk. Plenty of wildlife and doggos to see and everyone on the walk that we passed were very friendly. It was easy enough to get there with plenty of parking - extra parking down the road from the main car park. There is a childrenโ€™s park nearby the car park and toilets. Finished the walk with some ice cream and it was an all round nice place! Would return again to take my dog for a walk.

Beautiful place, vast and good walking distances..I only wish people stop feeding the birds with cheap bread..alternatively they can feed them with grain seeds, fatballs, peanuts, etc. ( in certain areas).

Lovely Park with lake, swans, woodland, grassed area. Lots of paths points of interest. Well worth a visit. If the main carpark is full there is an overflow but this can get muddy in wet weather.

  • 5/5 Paul C. 2 years ago on Google
Although very wet and muddy, I hadn't visited the park before. It is a vast open space with lots of places to explore. Well worth a visit, especially in dryer and warmer weather!

  • 5/5 Carol T. 2 years ago on Google
Great for exercising your dog, you can always find an isolated, gated area for training and exercising and lots of opportunities for socialising for both humans and dogs on the many paths. Also a cafe and toilets.

  • 5/5 Rob T. 1 year ago on Google
A lovely place to visit, especially if you like watching swans and ducks. Loads of walks, great for dogs, and near the excellent Penshaw Tea Rooms. Just watch out for all the bird poop.

I went here to see an outdoor screening of Dirty Dancing and absolutely loved it. There was a big cinema screen up and everyone had a great time. The park was lovely and clean, and there were food and drink stalls around for anyone watching the film. It was a great day ๐Ÿฅฐ

If you're looking for a peaceful and enjoyable outdoor experience, I highly recommend visiting Herrington Park! I recently had the pleasure of spending time at this stunning park and I have to say, it was a great time. One of the best tips I can give is to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds. This way, you can fully appreciate the beauty of the park without being distracted by too many people. Whether you're walking around the gardens, enjoying the lake, or taking a hike, you'll be able to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Herrington Park. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Herrington Park if you're looking for a great outdoor experience. The park has so much to offer and with a little planning, you can ensure that you have the best possible time. So pack a picnic, lace up your walking shoes, and head on over to Herrington Park - you won't regret it!

We love visiting here with our dogs and kids. Loads of open space for both to run about. Great hills for kids to roly poly down! Fab playground and a couple of ice cream vans. Cafe and toilets on site too.

Great place for a walk. Numerous paths so walk can be short or long. Bit muddy in places but it's that time of year. Main parking area far too small but you can drive over to the lake for more parking.

A great place to walk, plenty of parking, the ice cream van was there when we went which was pleasing for the kids! Play area and toilets were open, but cafe closed while we were there. Lots of different areas for the kids to explore but quite large area so worth taking bikes or scooters.

  • 5/5 Andrew C. 5 years ago on Google
Nice place to walk. Car park is currently completely blocked by a pile of stones left behind by the council... you can park on the main road though. Keep dogs on leads here as thereโ€™s a lot of wild life and occasionally thereโ€™s some mats in the long grass with scientific study please do not disturb on them. Itโ€™s only fair to keep your dogs under control. Ours have plenty of fun on extendable leads here.
