Will never spend money in this store again EVER! Worst place to buy from online or in-store, they do not deliver free to store pick up no matter what the spend is and do not issue refunds under any circumstances just exchange or credit note!!!! So you have to spend it with them regardless. No other store has such ridiculous policies, it's a jumble sale joke of a business. Will only use more respectable companies in future with normal delivery and return policies like JD sports, foot asylum and even Primark. 0 stars

Fantastic shop ... Met my needs from walking through the door to leaving!!! As a activist for social order and harmony I like nothing than roaming the streets of sunderland of a evening fighting for justice... However with the weather getting harsher I felt it was time to kit myself out with some new wellington boots.. the store has a great selection of adventure hero wellies but sadly not in my size... The sales assistant was a great help in showing me a selection for myself... Great service great product awesome team... I will definitely be returning for my spring summer crime fighting footwear in the future. 🕷️

Struggled to find the till as there are no signs to them. When we eventually found them the queue was huge as only one was working. Gave up and left the shop. Always find the shop busy and cluttered.

Store closes early and ignores me at the door. I went to collect an item after work and given the store is said to be open until 1800 I got there at 1745. Store closed and the assistant looking at me through the door just walked on past. Why state a time and close early. Absolutely ridiculous.

Been in this sports direct shop loads times ! I love it in there ! The female women staff are better than the male staff ! I get more help off female women staff than male ones again women staff do more work and help you a lot lovely cheap prices for clothes trainers everything they sell nice clean shop ! But only down fall waiting at tills get served takes a while to get to checkouts they should have more staff on tills ! Or maybe self service tills that would be lot better that would get waiting down a lot to get served overall second best sports direct shop in North East! Best sports direct is one in silverlink Wallsend that's best one again this store is clean and amazing female women staff workers in this store if they can get a waiting time down to get served then it be outstanding store

A shambles of a shopping experience today!!! I doubt very much that these reviews are taken seriously by management but on the off chance they do read them...I had to resort to going around the shop floor calling for staff assistance. It took over 10 mins to get a response!! Also, could you please re-train your checkout staff to put the customer ahead of their personal conversations behind the counter? It's beyond frustrating waiting in a long line after a previously bad customer experience only to have your transaction paused while they continue enjoy a good old chinwag and giggle. I stated that I wasn't being rude, but I was in a hurry and you'd have thought I'd stolen the chewing gum out of her mouth with the look she gave me!! Yes, she was actually chewing gum behind the counter!! ZERO STARS

Bad sports direct store, I bought previously in other stores and the experience was at least nice. Large store, if you go near to closing time don’t go. I’ll never go back there. I can’t put zero stars so I give one

Worst customer service staff I've ever come across. TLDR : Was disrespected and forced to dig through the trash to prove an error on their part. Was still not given an apology. Won't be back. Came in after purchasing a pair of clothes. Decided to buy the same exact thing two days later from the exact same service member(who was the only one to attempt to correct the "misunderstanding") they attempted to charge me extra. I explained my prior purchase experience and was called a liar, I explained I had the proof and was still disrespected by two other staff members attempting to explain to me what they quite obviously didn't understand as if I was slow. I left dug through the garbage brought back the previously purchased items and receipt, with full proof of what I was previously charged. The two women continued to deride my intelligence while saying they would make an exception this time and shirking accountability while blaming the machine and that it wasn't possible to correct, yet suddenly were able to make the correction when I provided the proof and a manager got involved. They then proceeded to blame their coworker(the original teller), not the machine which earlier they couldn't control. Stating he made the original adjustment improperly when that was not the case. He scanned my items and I was charged the discounted rate.

Lovely clothes at a more affordable price than the usual price of big brand shops

Right first of 3 star review I've knocked 2 stars off as returns you only get instore credit no cash. Next the store itself has loads 2 chose from and great selection has a USC inshore as well so 2stores in 1 the staff are friendly and easy to approach on clothes but can be a pain finding someone in the shoe/trainer selection.

Shop was quiet but we waited ages for someone to get a pair of trainers to try on. When we eventually got them one of the trainers had the inner sole stitched poorly so asked the assistant to try another pair only to be told no other pairs in & that's how they're stitched anyway. Result was no sale & certainly won't be going back.

Staff always is helpful when you're looking for something specific. I'm pleased with that! :) however, the female department for highest size is 8 which isn't a good thing , because some females do have size 9 or 9.5 so my suggestion to them is to expand to those sizes when you do get female customers with big feet. :)

Massive store with no choice at all. No decent men's coats, and you have to spend a fortune for a decent one. They sell exercise equipment, but don't sell an ab cruncher! It's unbalanced, and all for profit

They clearly think that ladies don't want to play any kind of racquet sports. There were no court shoes, staff didn't know if they were non marking or not.

I had never been through this horrible customer experience. They didn’t want me to return a pair of shoes that i wore two times with original conditions. The staff being responsible for returning items was not very polite and helpful. I will never come back. I had a lesson now

Took a pair of trainers back that had split after a couple of months. Refused to swap or refund, told me to contact Tommy jeans direct. Disgraceful service!! Plus they had a really bad attitude. Shocking customer service!

Went in to bye trainer's.... 10 minutes before I found a member of staff, 10 minutes to get the trainers I wanted, then 10 minutes in the queue to pay. Customer service first class.... Happy staff...... Sorry to say No

I had my 5 year old Grandson with me today and decided to buy him a pair of Reebok trainers. One of the male assistants asked if I needed help. I have arthritis and struggle with my hands and knees so find it difficult to help my Grandson try on but he immediatley not only helped but spoke to my Grandson and was so lovely I know it is his job but I feel he went above and beyond making my baby boy feel special talking about Sonic etc ...lovely lad his name was Jamie...Thank you again Jamie you were a breath of fresh air.

Awful, shady company ran by a crook. Firstly, I bought some golf shoes to be delivered ‘Next Day’ to my local store as they didn’t have the size I required in the shop. Once I had checked out and paid, I received an email saying they would be delivered with 5-7 working days? Brilliant. I needed them for that weekend, hence trying to purchase in store in the first place. I reluctantly then purchased the same shoes online again, this time selecting home delivery (at a cost of £10!) to get them delivered next day - with the intention of returning the first set once they had been delivered to the store. The shoes I received to my house were perfect for what I needed, no issues there. Fast forward a week later and my initial order had been delivered to the store. I went to collect the package immediately after work and 25 minutes before the store was due to close (at 6pm). I had literally crossed the threshold from the street and a member of staff snapped “We’re closed” to which I replied, “Yes, in 25 minutes you are”. I went to the collection desk and the lady was soon flustered trying to work out how to process my collection on the computer, not her fault at all she clearly hadn’t been trained sufficiently (I now know why). Another woman tried to help before the two got in an argument about who was right and who was wrong, meanwhile, I was stood there just wanting to get the parcel and leave. They located it in the storeroom but refused to give it to me until the system (which is clearly archaic and chaos to use) would refresh and allow them to mark it as “collected”. My Driving license was checked 3 times during all of this, for some reason. Foolishly, I then said I had brought a pair of trousers to return. I was told they would only exchange or offer store credit. I told them under my statutory rights I was entitled to a cash refund as they were not as described. (They were marked as 32” waist but could’ve fit two of me in them. The other pair of a different brand I bought at the same time were 32” and fit as expected). An argument ensued and I said they could get a tape measure if they liked, because they were nowhere near 32”. The ‘manager’ (Andy) came over the radio and said staff were to get any remaining customers out of the store. I said I wouldn’t leave until it was resolved, because the only reason it was now 6pm was because they were unable to process the parcel collection in less than 25 minutes. The manager then gobbed off over the radio saying I had to leave and that different brands came up different sizes. I told the female member of staff to get him down to the front so I could prove he was wrong. He then said, “if he wants to speak to me, I’m at the front of the store on his way out”. I almost sprinted through the store to find him and there he was, stood like a bouncer on the exit. He was everything I expected he would be, someone used to deceiving people whilst using his size to try and intimidate people in any dispute. He failed miserably, so tried to guilt trip me by saying “You’re stopping my staff from going home”. What staff? They were flooding out the door and the lights were 90% off - I had to use my 6th sense to get back through the store to him. I ended up getting my cash refund after I educated him on UK consumer law. Absolutely abysmal, non-existent customer service. Shortly after, I found out from an ex-employee they were threatened that they would be ‘sacked’ by the very same manager (Andy) if they didn’t turn up for an extremely short notice shift change (they had an A-Level exam that day). What a coward and a bully. To top it all off, to return anything bought online you need to pay again (£5) and go through Sports Directs shady returns website, instead of them just including a returns label. Buy elsewhere and have absolute piece of mind with your purchase.

Went into Sunderland branch twice this week and must give Amy the sales assistant a big mention she was very helpful and friendly and helped me find the right trainers I needed to get, nothing was a problem to her, she went above and beyond to help. Well done Amy, hope she gets recognition in her job role at work .

Male assistant who helped find shoes was very pleasant. Female assistant at the tills was patronising, abrupt and has an interesting take on consumer law, apparently if you don't take the shoe box you have no consumer rights at all.

I dont go into this shop very much but i popped in with my daughter today. I forgot about the vast selection they have on clothers for grandkiddies aswell as the adults. I really enjoyed having a look around apart from the female assistant seemed to be following me around the store because i didnt have a basket? My daughter bought 4 pairs of walking boots and trainers and that member of staff who was helping her was lovely.... However just because i separated from my daughter while she tried the trainers and boots on with my son in law didnt mean i needed watching because that how i felt. I only wished i had stated this to her at the time as she seemed to breathing down my neck and made me feel so uncomfortable i dont think i will be returning!...

Went in about a month ago just browsing the running trainers and asked a few questions about what shoes to get and which ones are the correct ones for me. The lady I ask was called Amy and she worked for Asics, she asked me to come back the following week to get the gait analysis to find out what running shoes I need. Got the analysis done and Amy was very thorough and made sure I got the correct shoes, I tried on 5 different pairs before I got the shoes I got. Amy had a fantastic knowledge of every shoe that was in the store and although she works for Asics she didn't pressure me to buy ASIC shoes, she suggest other brands and had great knowledge about them as well. My experience was excellent and can't recommend Amy enough, she goes the extra mile to make sure you get the correct running shoes. Oh and the gait analysis is FREE!!

Stocks a lot of gear, but too much to get round very tight to get at things or too high up. Don't really cater for children about 8 to 12. Found it expensive. Couldn't find anything for my 9 year old grandson or my 5 year old Grandaughter. But each to there own taste I suppose.
