Dr Gan Boon Leong is truly an iconic figure of Melaka, making Melaka and Malaysia famous in the 80s. He is well recognised by the state government. He is also known as a famous Malaysia's bodybuilder and is a household name for local Melaka people until today. Sadly, the younger generation does not know much of him.

I've been here a few times and it happened to be filming and programs, so I didn't get to take pictures with my motorcycle. This time I came to Malacca again and finally got to take a photo with the Mr. Malaysia statue. It was such an honor.

Great to learn about the great contribution of Dr Gan Boon Leong toward Jonker Street, which founded on June 9, 2000. With that, it was listed in World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO on July 7, 2008. Cleaned bathrooms are built (pay for entrance)at behind for tourists.

This section of Jonker Street was created to honor the man behind the revival of Jonker Street. Datuk Dr Wira Gan Boon Leong is a pioneer in Malaysian BodyBuilding scene in the 60's, having won the prestigious Mr Universe title. Melaka's favorite son, now in his late 70's, is still actively serving the local community and an active politician.
