Not that great of taste, but ambience is perfect! Nice place to chill

Food was yummy! Made from fresh ingredients. Had the Pork X and Great white (fish) burger. Pork patty was juicy with caramelised onions. Fish patty was made from grouper. Options on the menu were limited but they're good at what they served. There's only burgers, salads and sides. Bar was well stock. Ordered Virgin junk which is non-alcoholic and has quite the refreshing taste.

Aesthetically pleasing venue. There's so much to look at under one roof. Friendly service and drinks came quickly but there was a long wait for food which they did alert us to when placing our order. Once the food came it was just ok, far too much mustard in the burger and nothing out of the ordinary. Very small portion of fries.

OMG, the drinks here are super-good! From a simple lychee martini to mule and sangria, they were refreshingly high standard. Excellent service, very homely feel. A must-drop-by place at the end of the day or work week! Juicy burgers to boot, the vegetarian burger was just as good, what else can you ask for?

This is a one of kind bar, as the name suggests, it is filled with all the “junks”, but each speaks a story and origin. But again the vibe and atmosphere might not be for everyone. The burgers was quite good, the patties was top notch, the portions was quite big and filling. The salad that came along was quite alot, but the fries was not so great. The Indian brother that attended was such a great man and has good manners and very active.

Have to say the burgers where overrated unfortunately, but still ok. The fries felt like they where reheated and didn't taste good at all. Usually I would point this out but was in a hurry and just had to go with it.

Eclectic cafe, as can been seen in the photos, good burgers, fries a bit thin, drinks are generous, pasta dishes weren't available on my visit. The music vibe was good but can be a bit over loud sometimes and made conversation to the person next to me a bit strained.

Lovely, quirky bar with plenty of unusual bits and bobs decorating all areas. Staff were super friendly and attentive, good cocktails and wine by the glass too. European food on offer including pastas, salads burgers. . Definitely worth popping by for a drink in fun surroundings, enjoyed our night here for sure! Photos don't really do it justice either.

This is a bar you stumbled in by luck, and when you arrive you will meet great people in the staff, skilled in their craft. The vibe of the place are groovy cool, and with the beautiful ornaments and Picuralities around the place The barkeeper always has a smile, and are making hell of God good drinks. For the week I stayed in penang, this was my second home. If you're like me, not for the mass boring bars, this is the place. I highly recommend this place

Amazing place with its own identity and personality. The Manager and Owner are always smiling and friendly. The burgers are so darn good! Juicy, tasty and full of flavour. The junk tiki Gin cocktail is amazing. Definitely a place to visit and dine in. And the music is also vibrant and different, not your ordinary bar vibe! 10/10 will return!

Junk cafe is a great place to chill out. They have the best cocktails, and the music Ras plays is way cooler than the other bars! We went here many times while in Penang, and we'll visit again next time we're in town.

The fries were soggy and oily 🍟😔. Probably reheated. If that's the case then it is a strict no-no. If not, then the kitchen staff need to up their chippy frying skills. Please serve them freshly fried with your burgers.... that way the combo shines way more 🍔 🍟 😋. Complete fun otherwise 😀 😄. Older review: My family and I had an absolute hoot of a time here. The 'junk' in the place makes for a fun environ to down your favourite tipple in and chomp on some delicious burgers. And if that wasn't enough the soundtrack playing in the background is an absolute blast. We had among the most juicy pork burgers of all time with some hand cut chips. The lemon and herb chicken burger was a bit heavy on the sauce and mayo. This was good, not great. The drinks didn't scrounge on the alcohol making for a fabulous Daiquiri and a pretty potent Long Island Ice Tea. We also enjoyed a chilled Tiger. The mocktail Virgin Junk my wife had was super too. The feel of the place is of a museum with a curator seemingly out of control. But he's trying to tell a story. If you look carefully you'll spot history, art and politics. And it's some collection - from Indian film stars of yore to freedom fighters who stood up tall against the colonial Brits. Rockers and revolutionaries grace the walls as do masks that look on even as you are having fun with some of the best cocktails in this part of town. We received some great, friendly service and had a real fun evening. Cheers to this enjoyable madness 🍻🍹😋.

Cool place to be with western music. Pork burger was spiced well albeit a bit sloppy and cutlery was required. Sweet potato chips average. The cocktail I had was good though.

Prakash the barman is a very friendly guy, food is mainly burgers but good quality, a good range of cocktails, no draught beer, only Anchor and Heineken in bottles due to restrictions. Wacky decor with lots of interesting items of "junk"

Had been a regular since 2019. None of the burger joints could beat this cafe in best crafted burgers in town. I recommend the signature Blood Cream Chicken Burger with Homemade Sweet Potato Fries. The manager is absolutely friendly and easy to chill out with as well. It's an underrated cafe with the best hospitality, ambience, booze and crafted burgers. Never try, Never know.

Great cocktails, burgers, music and just feels like coming home! I first tripped over the lovely Junk almost exactly a year ago, fell in love with the general welcoming vibe, tunes, food, cocktails...plus made a firm friend in top man, Prakash. So I knew it would be first on my list when I finally broke out of KL CMCO this Christmas. COVID has had an unfortunate effect on most of us, not least Junk, which has had to move (just a little bit!) round the corner, so if 401 Chulia Street is still showing as it is as I type this, do make sure you venture just a tiny bit further to 1, Jalan Pintal Tali. It's well worth it, I promise. For food - burgers are it. I don't eat meat (so the Grilled Vegetable or The Great White both more than float my boat) but if you do, you're in burger heaven! And cocktails? Well.. I fondly remember the Bloody Mary sorting me right out just before the Langkawi ferry last year, but tonight I started with a classic Moscow Mule and then superstar bar guru, Prakash suggested I go off piste with his own creation - the Ginger Mojito. And proper lush it was too! To be clear, it's not on the menu, but I'm sure if you ask him nicely, and say hi from me, he'll do you one! Can't rate Junk highly enough!

This bar was a nice surprise in Penang. I arrived there with my friend and a Brazilian song was on. And I thought "well, that's a nice coincidence". But then the songs kept going on and on. I then told the manager I was Brazilian and he said he liked Brazilian songs and I even gave him some more ideas for other songs. They also had amazing Caipirinha. When we arrived the bar was empty so I danced and all. I had lots of fun. The staff is friendly and all those "junks" in the bar make the atmosphere even more interesting. It's worth a visit.

The perfect place to chill with your friends or on your own. The bartender was super friendly & welcoming as well. I tried their recommended cocktail (Junk Gin if I'm not mistaken) and it was superb. Very refreshing, citrussy with good amount of booze. They play good music as well and the environment was not too loud unlike other bars. They have exquisite decorations inside so it can be the perfect backdrop for your Instagram. Would love to come again when I'm visiting Penang next time.

July 2023, Weekday This was a stop over for Drinks before our Dinner. We seat by the bar. Enjoy the mix Cuban / South America music, I think. Love love the so call DIM atmosphere and decorations on the wall. Parking Street parking are extremely limited. It's best to use Taxi@Grab service. I would love to try the Burger in the future.

Great little pub/bar with good atmosphere and awesome decor inside. Located just off the beaten track behind some of the larger bars but worth going around the corner for. Food was good too, burgers were very tasty (little bit overcooked to our liking).

Great burgers and drinks! The decor inside and out is very unique and fun! We had the beef burger and fish burger. Both were delicious. We were a bit disappointed because we wanted to order one of the extra sauces to put on top of one of our burgers and we were going to pay extra for it and the chef wouldn’t give us the sauce because it was extra labour! We were so confused because we were willing to pay extra for the sauce for him to make it and he wouldn’t. So then we got another sauce that he was willing to give us but he wouldn’t put it on the burger for us! I don’t understand, why are you paying extra for if the chef doesn’t want to do the labour? Anyways, it’s still a great restaurant if you are looking for a juicy burger.

I called in here around 10 on the way back to the hotel for the night. A nice bar to hangout even alone as Roz the barman is friendly & a great conversationalist. I had not had Anchor beer in years, so that was a pleasant change. The clientele are a mix of tourists and locals and it serms never empty but not packed. I am told the burgers are the best. Maybe another time. 4/5 until food tried! Recommended

Wandered past this place while looking for somewhere to eat on a Thursday night in the rain, looked cool and heard The Specials - Ghost Town blaring from outside. Went inside to find the most magic bar/restaurant in town. Incredible mix of eclectic antique decor, super friendly and welcoming staff (shoutout to Ras), DELICIOUS food, creative and tasty cocktails, and an absolutely perfect playlist of reggae, funk, disco, soul music etc playing. I really love Penang and its food culture of all kinds but this place is truly something special if you’re looking for a different kind of laid back, chill and fun vibe. 11/10. Can’t wait to go back.

The Junk burger is such a phenomenal burger. So delicious and the sweet fries are an excellent combination with the burger. The vibe reminds me of this ww2 American Navy bar in Kunming I visited. Great spot to hang out with friends.

Glad to have stumbled by here. It’s further down from the other bars but much better. The bartender was really friendly and his drinks are A+. The atmosphere was great it has a rustic vibe to it. Would definitely go back there the next time I’m in Georgetown.

Loved the cool ambience here, surrounded by all the antiques from all over the world. Can't help but admire the owner of the cafe for his collections. The bloody chicken burger was nice, simply loved the dipping sauce for the wedges and the focacia bread. The drinks was alright too. Cons: Found the seating here quite limited, and the chairs were too low for our legs. Otherwise a really cool place to hang out even during the day.

Outstanding burgers with generous sides of salad. The root beer also comes in a generous stein. Chill, funky vibes with eclectic antiques and/or decor, along with reggae music, albeit a little loud. Staff are very responsive and courteous. Great place! Try asking for green eggs and ham.

Their burger is good!! Sadly when we are there the option for other food is not available. But that is forgiven due to good taste of the food.

Located in the quieter side on Chulia Street, this a great bar with lovely and friendly owner and staff. I was fortunate enough to be there during one of their reggae night event and it was the best night I have ever had in Penang. The music, the people and the vibe all made for a memorable night. Spent the next evening there too, on a quieter night and it was still as good with chilled out music and friendly conversations with the people there. The perfect evening after a great party the night before. Could not give a higher recommendation for an evening at this place and if you do decide to go there, try out one of their burgers, too. I had their Full of Junk burger with fries and it was super yummy. A good proper burger. A great big thank you to the guys at the bar.Will definitely head back there again when I next visit Penang.

A well hidden place to wind down and get lost in your own world. Very friendly staff and the cocktails are of good quality. Food portions are rather big so you might want to share it, so visit with a friend and enjoy the cool ambience.

Burgers are good. Chilled and unique place. The only qualm i have is that the food takes some time to come. And sometime if you come in groups, they mess up the orders and food comes at different times. But other than that, it's a solid spot for dinner or chill drinks in the evening.
