Meera Bai (1498-1547) was a Rajput princess of Merta, who worshipped Lord Krishna as her Divine Lover. Meera was unwillingly married to Bhoj Raj, son of Rana Sangram Singh, in 1516. Bhoj Raj died of battle wounds in 1521, & thereafter she was persecuted by her in-laws for her religious devotion. Meera Bai was jailed in this palace by Vikram Singh. She spent her days in her private Krishna temple composing devotional songs. Later Meera left to Merta, but finding that she was not welcomed there, she finally settled in Dwarka. According to popular belief, she miraculously merged with the idol of Krishna in 1547.

A place where one will see the love, Bhakti and devotion for Lord Shri Krishna. The temple of Meera Bai is very simple yet elegant and exceptional. The Mandir tells the story of Meera Bai who devoted whole life in the Bhakti Lord. A great example of dedication, devotion and love. The place is situated in Chittorgarh and has its own history. It is peaceful and calm.

The well-preserved archaeological temple was a stunning wonder of the ancient world. Intricate carvings adorned the walls and pillars, and the attention to detail was remarkable. With helpful guides and well-maintained facilities, it's a must-see for history buffs and art lovers alike.

A place any history lover shouldn't miss. What a wonderful experience I had at Chittorgarh fort. Do not forget to hire a guide to understand the fort in a better way. Most people avoid hiring the guide but here one can't go around without one.

The Meera Temple is one of the most popular temples in Chittorgarh. Dedicated to Meera Bai, the temple has both historical and religious significance. A visit to this temple is must during the Chittorgarh tours. The Meera temple Chittorgarh was built during Rana Kumbha's reign. He was the one who patronized the temple. It is a perfect temple located in a place that has a deep rooted association with the rich history of Rajasthan. The splendid architecture of the temple is also one of the reasons for it being a famous temple in Chittorgarh. On visiting the temple, you will be able to see the carved statue of the five human bodies and one head.

The Meera Temple is located in Chittorgarh fort, rajasthan. It is the biggest and well preserved temple of the fort. Many people of the city come to visit this temple daily. This is one of few temples where you can find krishna and meera idols together. The Temple is built on a high plinth and has a big courtyard around it.

Chittorgarh is the place where Meera Bai was born who was a Rajput princess and is also being well known as a poetess and saint. The princess had given up her lavish lifestyle and dedicated her life in the worship of Lord Krishna. The Meera temple is constructed to be dedicated to her and is a very famous Hindu temple which is a must visit on your tour to Rajasthan. The splendid work of art on the temple attracts a large number of tourists. The temple reflects the Indo-Aryan style of architecture which was very famous in those times and is still a part of our cultural heritage. The Meera Bai temple and the Kumbha Shyam temple are both built on the same ground. On the outer side of the Meera Bai temple you will notice a carved statue of five human bodies with one head which symbolizes the fact that people of all castes and creed are the same and no differences exists among them. It is also of sign of tolerance. The temple has a beautiful statue of Lord Krishna and the Kumbha Shyam Temple has a black colored statue of God Garud. The temple organizes special functions on Meera Mahotsav when many devotees visit the shrine to offer their prayers. On the outer side of the temple there is a chhatri where the footprints of Raidas had been made who was the teacher of Meera Bai. The shrine has a spiritual ambiance and imparts peace in the minds of the visitors. It has both religious as well as historical relevance which makes it an important place of Chittorgarh.

Meera temple is small temple beside the bigger kumbhaswamin temple. Before meera temple there is small temple dedicated to her guru sant rabidas. Inside meera temple there is a krishna sculpture. Beside it was meera bai's sculpture. She have taken the original sculpture with her and moved toward Gujarat.

Meera Bai, born in 1498 as a Rajput princess in Merta, had a remarkable life marked by her unwavering devotion to Lord Krishna. Despite being married to Bhoj Raj, the son of Rana Sangram Singh, in 1516, her heart belonged solely to her Divine Lover, Lord Krishna. Tragedy struck when Bhoj Raj succumbed to battle wounds in 1521. Following his death, Meera faced persecution from her in-laws due to her deep religious devotion. Vikram Singh, her brother-in-law, went to the extent of imprisoning her in a palace, a stark reflection of the challenges she endured for her spiritual beliefs. In the confines of her imprisonment, Meera Bai found solace and strength in her unwavering connection with Lord Krishna. She transformed her living space into a private Krishna temple, where she spent her days composing soul-stirring devotional songs, expressing the profound love and longing she felt for her Divine Lover. Eventually, Meera left Merta, likely driven away by the hostility she faced. However, her reception in other places remained unwelcoming. The resilient Meera finally found her haven in Dwarka, where she continued to live out her days immersed in devotion to Lord Krishna. The poignant end to Meera Bai's life is steeped in mysticism. According to popular belief, in 1547, she miraculously merged with the idol of Krishna, signifying the transcendence of her soul into the divine realm. Meera Bai's life story is not only a testament to her unshakeable faith but also a source of inspiration for those who seek a profound connection with the divine amidst life's tribulations.

The reason behind visiting Chittorgarh Fort was mostly to see the temple of Meerabai. It was an amazing experience when I visited there & would love to visit again in future if get chance. I turned myself towards Meerabai temple after just entering in Fort. It was like dream come true. I sit here for more than 2 hrs to think about her. #letsguide

The Meera Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Krishna and associated with the Hindu saint and poet Mirabai. It’s said that she survived a poisoning attempt because she was blessed by Krishan for her devotion. The temple is said to be the one where Meera worshipped and compose poetry to Krishna. The temple is largely built in an early North Indian style, but also seems to have Indo-Islamic domes over the portico. There’s two idols inside the sanctum which I represent Krishna blessing Meera. The temple will no doubt be of interest to devotees, but purely from an aesthetic point of view, it’s only okay.

Great place to visit during winter, move a round with guides and photographers and listen to the great story of war between Allaudin Khilji & Emperors of Chittorgarh. The story ends with the ultimate end of the war with self cremenation of honorable queen as a better option than accepting defeat. Some many stories of 100s of years live at every corner. Perfect place for picnic and have great quality time with lived ones.

Jesus gave message of Love 2000 years before present days. Just 500 years before, Meera Loved Lord Krishna so much so that her life’s only wish was of getting married with him. She was so mad in Love that even after getting married with King of Chittorgarh, she refused to accept him as her husband. As per my information, She came to know about an enlightened mystic named Raidaas or Ravidas, so she met her at his ashram at Nathdwara. There just by a glimpse of devotion and love towards God in her eyes, Raidas accepted her as his disciple. He gave her a ‘mantra’ to recite so that she can discover her godliness and only then her wish could be fulfilled by God. The mantra was ‘Payo ji maine Ram ratan dhan payo’. Now Meera was yearning for Girdhari/sanwariya (Krishna was remembered by Meera, through these names only because that time a wife could not call her husband by his name) and in this mantra there is nowhere his name, she resisted but Raidas remained firm. Hesitantly she started reciting it with great difficulty. Over a period of time she got awakened and understood that her mistake was that she was treating Ram and Krishna as two while there is no difference in any creature in existence! She had ‘seen’ ‘the one’ in all that day. She felled in feet’s of Saint Raidaas, and recited the famous song ‘Payo ji maine, Ram ratan dhan payo...’. Still it is being recited by near about every famous singer to remember her. There is no difference in Ram, Krishna, Jesus, Buddha, Mohammad, Mahavir, Nanak etc. The difference is because our mind enjoys duality and reality could be understood when this duality vanishes to become one and still it is not one ie Krishna or Ram or Jesus all are one! Namaste is its depiction by joining two hands to become one in you but still it is not one too. There are three temples of Meera. Apart from this, One at Merta city, her birth place. Another at Nathdwara, place where she became disciple of Raidaas.
