One of the culinary legend in Solo. Authetic food with interesting interior. Must try its "selat solo". It has sweet taste, fresh, with bistik or gelatin for its option. Located inside small isle, but still easy to find. Price is very affordable compare to its taste and experience. One of the must try culinary place when visiting Solo.

If you're looking for a traditional restaurant with a vintage, colorful atmosphere and delicious Selat Solo cuisine, look no further than Warung Selat Mbak Lies. From the moment you step into this charming eatery, you'll be transported to another time and place. The decor is a delightful mix of vibrant colors and vintage touches, with plenty of charming details to catch your eye. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family. But it's the food that really steals the show at Warung Selat Mbak Lies. The Selat Solo dishes are a true standout, with bold flavors and fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether you're in the mood for spicy, savory, or sweet, there's sure to be something on the menu that will satisfy your taste buds.

I tried its because its a most wonderfull culiner in Solo as mention in google hehe The place is goods, so many ceramics and they also sell any souvenir Unfortunately I am not suitable with the taste, the taste is too sweet, maybe the one who like sweet food will be like it We order selat solo and rolade Selat solo is consist of "suwir daging" , egg and potatos, and also watery (encer) ketchup sauce And rolade is consist of rolade, egg, vegetables with sour and sweet sauce The price is affordable, the selat solo price around 28k

Solo town specialties that make me curious to taste it. We ordered 3 kinds of selat, namely, tongue, galantin and bestik. The gravy of this dish is watery and has a "semur-like" taste but is very light. The vegetables used are fresh and cooked perfectly. I like the tongue the most. Soft, tender and savory. Galantin and bestiknya also delicious. The price is not expensive either.

It's located near the main road, you can easily spot the restaurant name board. The unique selling point was the restaurant itself which had so many ceramics collection. But, the foods were actually good. Selat menu was definitely the recommended one. The macaroni was like soup with milk and butter.

My must visit place everytime I go to solo. Their dishes taste are authentic and never fail to please my crave, so I keep coming back even tho as Javanese folk I eat dishes with similar taste almost everyday haha. You should come to this place when you visit Solo. They have various Solo specialties that's worth to try and the shop's decoration is also one of the interesting point to check out. The shop is adorned by ceramics decoration which is very unique and artistic.

Food is legendary authentic, if you're on holiday, of course this place is already on your list. The service is good, they're friendly and quick. Atmosphere is homey, a bit hot when it's sunny outside, but they also have airfan, it helps. Payment: they accept card and QRIS payment Seatings: it is opened indoor, small permanent tables, they also provide "lesehan" too 😁 Others: They sell famous "loreng" and "jago" enamel mug, also indonesian's legendary toys such as bola bekel, kelereng, etc.

this place is located in a small alley, but your car can still fit to reach the parking area. they sell traditional food like selat solo, timlo, gado-gado, and others. i think their selat solo is a little bland. they need to add stronger flavor to the sauce. they use fresh vegetables, though. the place is very unique. you can find many antiques here. they sell all of them, including traditional utensils, palm sugar, local snacks, toys, herbal drinks, and many others. the cashier is very friendly.

This selat solo is like the food called roulade, which is served with red sauce, as a complement to the dish there are fried potatoes, carrots, beans, pickles, and they form white eggs in the shape of a flower. They also provide other options with bestik gravy. There are various other dishes besides selat solo, various kinds of iced desserts, and some snacks served on the table. About the price of each serving in a standard price, which is neither too high nor too low. The location is inside the small yudhistira alley. Might think this is in a big way, if this is the first time visiting using directions from google map. About the taste of the dish, it's familiar with the taste of the galantin dish if you've ever tried it.

A very unique place with heaps of decorations that makes you feel you enter into another world. Can find many local delights here. It's a little pricey compared to other places but it's worth the experience. Have brought many foreigners there before. Definitely going back again next time.

It’s unique place. The food is great; taste and price. All over the place are fragile. The parking are spacious, although it is in alley.

One of the best selat Solo in town. There were 3 varieties of selat you could choose from, e.g. selat bistik, selat lidah, and selat galantin. The taste was scrumptious, not too sour, not too sweet; just right. The price was also reasonable. The place was pretty huge, but when it comes to lunch time this place would be packed with customers. They sold not only selat but also other traditional Solo specialty foods such as : timlo, soup, tahu acar, and gado-gado. Overall this place was a must-visit place for Solo specialty foods when you ever visited Solo.

The location is quite easy to find, just follow google maps. Located in an alley, there's no parking spot for cars. The first impression of this place is so antique and crowded with tons of things made from porcelains, so many ornaments, and ceramics on the wall. But for me and my friends the place smells weird, kinda fishy somehow pungent and decaying. So then we moved table but the smells its still there, but not like before. If you like taking picture this will be a great place to visit, but since this is a restaurant, we pay more attention at the food. This is not our first time to eat 'Sup Matahari' and 'Selat Solo', but for us those menus in this restaurant are just okay and a bit pricey. Maybe since the place is kinda smells weird, we're not really enjoy the food. Also we thought the food smells and taste a bit weird. So from us, if you want to visit a restaurant fulls of antiques ornaments you could visit this one, but for the food, maybe you should think again.

How to make the most of your house...this little restaurant should teach their method in a business school. It's actually a really messy environment, where you can buy almost everything, on the top of your meal. : glass marbles, traditional sweeper, ceramic plates... The inventory of this place must be a nightmare as there are thousands of references. Bit that's also what makes the place interesting. You spend as much time looking at the small stuff hanging on the walls, as eating up your food. The restaurant has open in the 1980, so it's around for some time and many celebrities came to try it, and of course you have the pictures to prove it. Food wise x it's reasonable, although I had many better meals than that in Solo. But it's definitely worth a visit .

One of the dish that you have to try when visiting Solo is “Selat Solo” which is a dish originally from the city. This place is a legend with an outstanding reputation among the people and tourists. You would have to go into an alleyway to get to the restaurant but it will be worth it as it is probably the best “Selat Solo” there is. This is where you get the real “Selat Solo” and the experience of eating in such a unique restaurant. The place is very colorful and has lots of decorations on its walls and all around you. Everything on the plate is just so good.

Touristy places who also sells souvenirs from abroad. The food itself is quite good but the location might be a bit hard to reach because its located in a small alley. fun fact: "selat" is a javanese adaptation from the dutch's salade.

Authentic food in a traditional spot. Delicious food and quick service. A bit hard to find as it is down an alleyway but worth it once you get there. Colourful spot and tables. Also stall selling collectible goods

One if the authentic food you must try in Solo. The place is located in a small alley, with a lot of ceramica decorations. Selling “Selat”, the traditional local cuisine from Solo, influenced by the western colony.

The place was very unique. There are also signs written "tembok kanan" "tembok kiri" etc on the walls and it's funny and functional! The decorations are fun to look at :) The food, personally, wasn't for me. I ordered galantin(?) and selat for my bf. Since it's sweet and it had custard, the combination was weird for me (I love savoury-spicy food more!). My bf liked it, but the aftertaste was a no. Altho the taste was unique, it's still edible, trust me. If I have a chance, I'd like to try something else here! The waitress was quick to serve the food too

First time trying this food. Never taste one like this before The place is a bit "busy" as they also sells a lot of souvenirs, ceramic pots and toys for children. I order the Selat bistik and it taste great, the beverages (es campur) was a bit too sweet for me. Adding some water solved the problem anyway The atmosphere was actually good, until the rain suddenly pours down heavily, which had me, who sits in the garage space were dripped by the rain water coming from the faulty roof.. Will come for more food for sure.. Don't forget to fix the faulty roof please

Enough portion per person and taste good for me. The atmosphere was hot and crowded when I visited there. The place is unique but also feel not so much space. There's option whether you want to sit on chair or floor.

the best way describing Warung Selat Mbak Lies in a word: authentic! the menus (a bit pricy but reasonable price), the ambience, the serving, the place, the taste, everything. a must to go culinary spot in solo city! but maybe in weekend or holiday season would be packed and there will be waiting list. an open space, so many customers smoking carelessly (eventho there was so many children and elderies and pregnant mothers) but there were no specific section for smoking area

It's located on the small alley make it hard to park a car. You can park on the road though. The place is quite unique just a bit narrow. The food is really good, soup is light and refreshing. The meat is also tender and delicious especially the galantin so roch of flavour. And the price is pretty affordable. Overall really enjoy the experience and recommended to try if you are in solo.

I stumbled on this undiscovered gem right in our neighboorhood. The experience was heavenly as I was served a meal fit for God himself. I want to hire their decorator to furnish my apartment. Try out the huge selection of incredible appetizers. After my meal, I was knocked into a food coma. They got a new customer for life!

One of a must visit culinary place when you travel to Solo. The place is located in the alley and quite far from the main road but the signage is clear to give you direction. It is worth the visit for the unique decoration and friendly ambience. I ordered the Selat Bestik for the food but the soup and egg are too sweet for my liking. Overall, it is a good portion for a reasonable price.

I might be one of the few who don't like the food offered at this establishment. I came because of all the good reviews but the food were falling short of our expectations. We ordered selat lidah, selat bestik and selat gelatin. The place was full of knick knacks all over the place, including various palm fiber brooms they sell. They surely offer unique place to eat.

Nice design with lots of vintage stuff. If you like sweet food, you may enjoy it here. This place is famous for a very long time for its Selat Solo (special food from Solo). But the street is lil narrow and fit to one car only. The car parking space is not so big as well, so you may need to park at the main street and walk for 100 meters to arrive here. Taste: ⭐⭐⭐ (since I'm not really into sweet food). Price: ⭐⭐⭐ Have a good time!

Best selat solo in town? Maybe. Best selat solo i ever taste? One of much option! Doing short escape with spouse to solo and jogja is an option after pandemic. Super fun!

  • 3/5 Krishna A. 1 year ago on Google
I had great expectation, but well, my experience did not match it. The decorations are unique, as you can see from my photos. Meals & beverages are actually ok-not bad. However, as a place to dine in, I don't really recommend it. Tables were sticky, and the decorations on the table were also heavily-dusted. Might be better to just order a take-away while sight seeing the ceramics.
