What a beautiful historical home filled with memories and emotions. I was awestruck by how similar it looked to how I imagined a Keraton would be. My guide was so pleasant and informative, and answered all of my questions promptly. The ticket plus guide was around Rp. 85.000,- and I came 20 minutes before closing, yet I was so touched by how beautiful everything looked inside. All items were authentic and genuine from the time. I will be coming back.

Nice place. Especially while you love Indonesian palace style. It’s just too dusty. Please clean it well. Ticket price is about 15.000 IDR while I visited. To visit here, really a lil bit difficult and the road is not that spacious. The local are nice people.

It's a very memorable visiting Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat, one of the most visited tourist attractions in Solo. Entrance fee is including explanation of history of the palace from very knowledgeable tour leader. While visiting field in the inner area, one must going barefooted (it's allowed to use shoes in the area). Totally learned very impressive histories.

We visited the Keraton in a weekday morning, so it's rather quiet and enjoyable. We asked for Guide, and thanks to pak Kardi and Vero who shared so many stories about life in a Keraton. Unfortunately, during pandemic we could only visit the east wing (museum), and not allowed to visit the courtyard and its famous tower. Would give 5-star if we could visit the courtyard! Buy your ticket at the museum, at the east corner of the palace. You can park car in front of the main palace gate, just to the south from Alun-alun Utara, or in the alun-alun if it's full and walk a bit. There're e-scooters for rental too! Entrance is 15k/person and guide fee is 70k. You can browse the museum yourself, but the Guide can make your visit more lively. Please wear trousers or long skirts, not shorts.

bangunan bersejarah, senior dari seluruh kraton pecahan Kerajaan Mataram Islam. sayang kurang terurus karena berbagai faktor. semoga bisa dikelola lebih profesional seperti kraton sebelah. this palace complex belongs to the most senior branch of the Islamic Mataram Kingdom dynast. It is huge and historic. yet, it desperately needs some upgrading in the management of its museum and its surrounding vicinity. i do hope that the public streets which runs through some parts of the palace complex can be manage in such a way to bring back the glory and majesty of this precious heritage

This place is open until 2.00 pm only..it is a museum that showed story and everything about Java Kingdom, especially in Surakarta. It was actually a palace storage before, and now used as a museum...it has a nice scenery too..so..if you like to take photos, it's quite nice to visit..

Solo palace with European and Jawaese concept in it's layout and construction. The exterior defending wall and fortress are pretty high and well kept till now. Though the overall dimension looks like big, the opening areas are limited, not too much areas for tourists to visit. The front yard and surrounding facilities are not maintained well. The tour guide told us it is because Sultan wants to deal with his current territory by himself. The government can do nothing for it. The opening areas show you the heritage of royal families, some traditional activities, like wayang kulit and tari topeng. You can find the military force and some display from the antique weapons. Royal life can be observerd by different kinds of transportation as well, like sedan chair and carriage. The horse for daily transportation or war is remarked ad well. Of course, you can find some cultural emerging among countries, like China and Dutch. It takes you around 1.5 hour to complete the visit. Enjoy it.

A place you have to visit when you're traveling to Solo. Unfortunately (at least for now), the inner part of the building can't be entered because of some internal problems, but you can rent a rickshaw to travel around Keraton area

A palace full of history, even the Sultan still lives here. The whole complex was huge, and the area permitted to roam was limited. In spite of the limited roaming area.. It's still a large area to explore.. The guide will explain a lot of details regarding the palace, the Sultan's family and its predecessors. The relic stored here was well preserved and being showcased. There's also some miniature figure to show how some events goes on at this palace. A great place to visit...

It’s beautiful. Came here in morning, there’s food stall in front. So, you may take breakfast in here. For the night, it has Angkringan/Wedangan. For the museum itself, it still beautiful but not so clean. There’s lot of pedicab that provide tour around Keraton. Your driver will become your tour guide for only 50k.

As one of the historical places in Surakarta, this palace holds many antique, unique and historical objects. entrance ticket for local tourists 15 thousand. besides that there is also a tour guide. If you want to go around the palace, you can use the available rickshaw or buggy transportation.

For a ticket price 25.000 IDR, this place is too dusty and not really well-maintained. They suggest to buy a package of 155.000 IDR for 3 people with a special guide, while the main ticket price is already include a guide in the package. If they can't renovate the whole palace yet, better pay attention to the cleanliness of the whole palace complex. If you want to visit here, don't expect too much🙏🏻

Nice museum with interesting items. It could use better lighting system. Sometimes it was too dark, sometimes the reflection prevented a good look at things. But I enjoyed my visit anyway.

Good place to know everything about Keraton Surakarta. They have many tour guides to explain every single detail of the palace. The knowledge of each tour guide is astonishing and makes you proud of our country history and cultures. Local government needs to give more attention to this place. This is a big treasure that remains in this country

This palace is a heritage building that is a go to place if you ever visited Solo. Filled with so many historical stories and memorabilia. I suggest that you hire a guide to tell you some of the most interesting stories there. There's this part where you'll be entering the Kori Kamandungan door and you need to take off your sandals, so I advise you to use shoes when coming here so you don't have to take them off🤣. Just like any other museum in Indonesia, the stuff displays here need a bit of cleaning for our viewing pleasure. Overall it's an interesting place!

Need a lot of touch-ups and big renovations, lots of defects, and seemed like none care of the old heritage conditions. On the other hand, the entrance fee is 25k/pax and 80k for personal guide. Looking at the environment, it is really recommended to get better perspective in terms of putting high amount with the service amd scenery we get. The diorama have to complete with signage with short story with years, this help people who read it get to know better and educate, then by listening the guide explained and at the same time the signage helps to be readed for information.

It’s a palace. You need to pay 15.000 for local, I don’t know about foreigner. You can pay some guide to guide and explain. But, it’s just a little side of the palace that open for public.

Should be hisyorical, but the surrounding is so dirty. Garbages everywhere especially when entering from balaikota direction and around the alun-alun. Everything seems running down. Surprisingly seems not well maintained, amidst a palace.

  • 4/5 bani k. 1 year ago on Google
Visited the museum - sad because the displays were dirty & we cannot enter the palace due to Covid restrictions but managed to see soldiers performing their shift routines at 4PM. Still worth the visit. Ticket entry museum : IDR 15k per person no guide, IDR 50k per person with guide. You can also experience the entire palace tour with guide for 50k riding a Becak :)

Nice but closed when visited and a lot of annoying people around trying to take your money for whatsoever service they offer. Photos, transport, guide or things like that. Foreigners always have to pay more because of their skin colour.

You must do a ride or walk circling the historical surakarta kingdom keraton (palais) when you are in Solo. Through the north gate gladag, into north alun alun (square), along round palace wall inside, south ward to south square with its sacred albino buffalos, go up again out via famous pasar klewer. It is not as neat and as lively as yogya keraton, but this place is a decade older, with complex historical relation story with other surrounding kingdoms. You will find it like just went through a time tunnel. A must visit.

Used to be the palace of the Surakarta kingdom in Solo. Now it acts as a museum and still used by lineage of the kingdom. Most of the palace complex have been used by public and turned into commercial business.

One of the original Indonesian kingdom that still pure and keep its tradition and. I think it is one of the pure Indonesian kingdom. This palace can be visit and enjoy the inside of it but unfortunately that nowaday it is closed for public as the internal conflict of the kings’s families

Great place to learn history because once you get there, there will be a tour guide who tell you all about Kraton. The entrance fee for domestic people is IDR 10K, unfortunatelly I don't know for foreigners, then you must follow your tour guide because there are some place where you should take off your sandals or shoes, the fee for tour guide is up to you (seikhlasnya) :)

This pic actually taken on Ndalem Kayonan. It's in one area of Keraton on Baluwarti. I learn about the culture of ancient keraton. If you're culture enthusiast, you will love this place. Now the inside part of Keraton closed for public, you can only visit the museum, except in several occasions

Historical building in Solo. You should visit it when you have trip in Solo or Central Java. It has museum inside and the guide will tell you the history of the palace. Make sure to wear a proper shirt. Avoid using singlet or short. The museum close at 2 pm, so if you want to come in, please be early. But if you just want to take a picture in the iconic Palace view, you can go anytime.

The palace of the old Surakarta Sultanate now being used as a museum. There are some objects of interest, but perhaps it is the architecture that is the most interesting. One has to wonder if the palace and the collection are being well-maintained. There is a small entrance fee.

During my visit, only the museum part was open to public. The palace have already closed for 1 year because of internal dispute between the King descendants. Rich in history but sadly, not well managed and the display is in dire condition, dusty and dirty. The compound also look under maintained. I was sad that our culture not well taken care of. Hope will improve in the future.

Well, Kraton Kasunanan Surakarta, is a conserved inheritance of the Kingdom in Indonesia at the past time. Since Indonesia become a Republic 1945, there is governed by the President. This palace is a part of a museum now, in Surakarta, Solo, a city in Central Java Province of Indonesia. Indonesia is a famous country located in Asia. Here, in Solo, the palace located down town of the city that can be reached easily.
