There
are
other
better
places
to
buy
cigars.
As
a
long-time
cigar
smoker
who
has
experienced
many
other
cigar
stores,
Havana
Cubana
is,
at
best,
merely
'adequate.'
First
of
all,
the
lighting
is
just
plain
wrong.
Badly
wrong.
A
cigar
store
should
be
a
welcoming,
inviting
environment
with
warm
and
well
positioned
illumination.
Also,
maybe
a
little
appropriate
music
would
not
go
amiss
-
something
with
a
bit
of
a
Cuban
vibe
or
some
relaxing
jazz
would
help
to
further
create
an
inviting
atmosphere.
When
I
walk
in
Havana
Cubana
it
is
a
bit
like
walking
into
a
chapel
of
rest,
deathly
silent,
dark
and
a
little
off-putting
to
say
the
least.
The
person
running
the
joint
does
not
even
smoke
cigars
and
I
cannot
lie,
it
does
overshadow
the
whole
experience.
Premium
cigar
smoking
is
a
deep,
abiding
passion
for
many
of
us;
indeed,
it
is
part
of
a
larger
culture.
A
good
cigar
store
owner
will
share
this
passion
and
have
an
expansive
knowledge
base
built
on
personal
experience
-
of
cigar
lore,
travel
experiences
and
reflections
on
the
shared
camaraderie
that
lies
at
the
heart
of
this
lifestyle.
The
accessories
are
to
be
avoided
if
possible.
Go
elsewhere
if
you
need
a
cutter
or
a
lighter.
As
for
the
cigars
themselves,
the
last
time
I
was
there,
the
selection
was
serviceable
-
if
somewhat
pricey
compared
to
other
places
hereabouts.
The
young
man
is
polite
and
friendly
and
does
his
best
to
be
helpful.
However,
offering
advice
and
reciting
flavor
profiles
gleaned
from
third
parties
is
no
substitute
for
a
first-hand
experience
of
the
product.
This
retail
space
has
enormous
possibility.
It
is
a
pity
that
Havana
Cubana
does
not
live
up
to
its
potential.
