Lovely selection of seafood dishes and wine at reasonable prices. Their fish and chips are very popular. I prefer the grilled salmon fillet. Busy, especially at weekends. Better to book in advance. Pleasant, hard-working staff. Recommended.

Classic coastal dining with popular dishes as well as the more contemporary styled. Price ranging to suit everyone's budget and with plenty of parking out front it's an easy decision. Made extra special if you're fortunate to hear one of the owner Sean's brilliantly-terrible dad jokes. He may even throw in a couple of lessons on nautical knots, we had a heap of fun here. Before or after dining there's a boat serving tours of Ireland's Eye just down the pier which is amazing value for money and will guarantee you a bank of awesome photos to take away and show your friends and family.

So glad we went here when the restaurant we had intended to go to was closed. The oysters were huge, & so delicious we ordered more. The wine I ordered was crisp, clean & went beautifully with the oysters. The fish & chips were amazing, perfectly cooked, & a more than generous portion. The staff were friendly, efficient & made the visit very enjoyable. & about those chefs!!! Absolutely top notch! All in all a fantastic experience, I can’t wait to go back!

Literally the best sea food restaurant i have been to in my life! I tried the fish pie, the sea chowder and the fish and chips and they all were perfect. Fresh, tasty, deep in flavor. The staff is really good respectful and act quick. The restaurant itself is very colorful and has a lot of painting of fishes around. The music is very calming. Definetly a go to in Howth

Had a very nice lunch here, outside seating close to the water. The seafood was excellent and was washed down with a nice white wine. Ordered 2 types of platters so was able to sample most they had to offer. The cold platter was better than hot platter imo. Perfect setting on a nice sunny day. Service was great.

We had gone to Howth to walk along the sea wall there and go to one of the other restaurants there, but they were closed so we decided to give the Oar House a try and we were glad we did. We started with the Oysters and we agreed these had to be the best and freshest oysters we have had, and we have had them in one of the other restaurants in Howth. We also had the fish and chips which were excellent. If you are ever in Howth don’t miss the chance to enjoy a meal at the Oar House

A good place to have proper seafood dinner with your family. Went there after a small hike in Howth, and had a relaxing and mouthwatering gastronomic experience. Food is amazing - enjoyed it a lot, wine selection is above average for restaurants in the area.

We spent a lovely Saturday evening in the Oar House. Our server Hannah was a joy ... funny, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ate soft shell fish tacos to begin, they were all different, 2 white fish and 1 prawn. Our main course was whole pan fried Sea Bream, beautifully cooked with crispy skin, served with roasted cherry tomatoes, black olives, and crispy sliced saute potatoes ... absolutely delicious, we loved it. We drank a delicious bottle (or two 😁) of Albarino white wine, which was the perfect accompaniment in every way. We're very much looking forward to our return X

I ordered the muscles and the chowder. I absolutely loved it. The other half had the monkfish. He's not much of a fish eater but loved it too. Great place for a fish lunch in the harbour

Excellent food, nice service. Coffee not that good. We ordered various starters and mains to share. Prawns, mussels, chowder, oysters, grilled fish. Everything was great. Only some oysters were opened too sloppy. The espresso we had with desert was not well prepared. No texture, no good taste. Our waitress did a great job. Overall I highly recommend the restaurant

Biggest piece of cod with chips I ever had. Very good food quality, service and ventilation. Highly recommended to visit for a 2 course meal. You won't regret

The food was amazing. Also tried the fresh oysters as well. Everything was super fresh and prepared perfectly.

Fresh seafood at a fair price. Chowder soup didn't have a lot of seafood in it.

Food amazing but very poor service. Serve by a girl call Ella. When in at 7.30 pm order and had food by 8 pm. My husband got 2 slices of bread with his buffalo prawn and I got one with my prawn pil pil so at 8.10pm I ask if I could please have more bread and she told us that the kitchen is closed. I ask someone else . Even though the other staff didn’t bring the same bread he got us at least something else. Bare in min they don’t close until 8.30 pm. Then at around 8.21 pm my children were done with their food. That same girl Ella came to clear the table and taking away our salad bowl that we we not done with. So overall if you want to have a nice time enjoying your food and your family or friends time out nice , STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! For the amount of money you spending, not worth it!

Super service, super food. Servicing staff and the kitchen staff were very nice on my visit. Also, this place accepts AMEX too, while most places around takes V/MC only. I certainly return to enjoy there food on my next visits.

Good seafood restaurant in Howth. They have a good number of tables, they were able to found us a table also without a reservation (for lunch). Oysters were good, so the fish pie and the sea bass. The atmosphere is nice.

The place was really busy when we came in but despite this the staff were super friendly! We ordered three different tapas and enjoyed our food a lot! The seafood didn’t have this typical “sea” smell and was cooked amazingly well. We loved the prawn pil pil especially. We were sitting on the indoor terrace on a rainy day, but they made it really cosy and warm here too. There are heaters and blankets available.

Had a great time visiting with friends on Saturday afternoon. The food was delicious and so fresh! I definitely recommend trying the calamari, shrimps and the mussels, everything was so good. There is a wide variety of seafood dishes, and you can choose between small or large portions. There is a variety of wine, but the beers were a bit limited, and they didn't offer Guinness. The atmosphere was nice and the service was friendly and pretty fast.

Decent place, prefer outside seating if weather allows. I got a chowder and it wasn't one of the best, was a bit watery and didn't have much seafood but the overall atmosphere is nice. It's also one of the rare restaurants in this area which opens up earlier than 12:30 pm for lunch.

Calamari was perfectly seasoned and battered. Buffalo chips were spicy and delicious. Salmon perfectly cooked but I found the white wine sauce slightly odd tasting.

One of our best meals while visiting Ireland. Mussels are 👍 and the calamari is about as good as your gonna get outside of Greece.

A wonderful dining experience. Fresh seafood and helpful staffs, we even managed to get booking 20mins before on a busy Saturday afternoon. Highly recommend the calamari one of the best ones we’ve had.

Good food, fresh fish but kinda small portions for some of the dishes for its price. Overall nice spot. Indoor and outdoor eating spots that are right next to the boats. Interesting wall paintings and decor.
