BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS! This place is INFESTED with Bed Bugs! Stay FAR FAR AWAY! Not only that, the rooms are disgusting. Hair EVERY WHERE. The showers are a bit busted. There is mold and there are bad smells. The staff is INCREDIBLY rude, and they repeatedly break health codes. Walking around in the kitchen area with dirty bare feet and smoking with the gloves the cook with on. Not to mention that they have the most RIDICULOUS check-in procedure. They are rude and treat you like trash. You'd be better off just sleeping in your car. Save your money! Stay literally ANYWHERE else. Location is FINE. But that's the only thing. Sweetwater REALLY deserves better than to have this trash heap of a hotel in their town.

First, the staff was very polite and helpful. But we had another member of our party that had checked in the day before us and warned us that the first room they gave him smelled awful. He went to the front desk to complain and they put him in a new room. So when we checked in, we went straight to the room without our luggage and sure enough, there was an overwhelming odor of a really strong cleaner and some kind of mildewed smell. The lady at the front desk was very polite and apologetic and she gave us a room on the opposite side of the hotel. In speaking with someone working on the hotel, we were told that there were major issues with the air conditioner units on one side of the building that basically cause water to leak into the floors and walls. The owners have been told but refuse to replace them. We noticed the mildew on the sheers in our room the day before we were due to check out. And its looks like there are mold stains on the wall that have been painted over. After reading some other reviews, it's obvious this has been a problem for awhile. Like I said, the staff is very polite and hardworking, but the owners/management need to address the mold issue ASAP.

This is a prime example of where staff professionalism and friendliness really makes the experience. At check in, we where wildly late in the middle of the night, and the check in agent was fast, courteous and very understanding of our need to check in and get to sleep right away. The next morning, the staff went above and beyond in the breakfast area, holding it open a few minutes late to help accommodate our family. I've literally never seen a hotel do this, usually staff try and shoo you away 10 minutes early. The hotel has been here a while, and that does show, but the staff more than makes up for everything, and they keep the place very clean. I felt comfortable the whole time and I'll try and make it to this specific hotel on my way to the smokies in the future.

Tried three rooms. All were musty smelling. One had rusty door knobs. Dehumidifier full in the hall. There is some type of moisture issue in the building. Seems like a rough area. When a hotel has a "drug"policy.... Will not stay at this location again. Athens is a much better location. Desk clerk was nice and very helpful.

We checked in just before midnight. Paid a lot for the room and it was dirty. Hair in the tub, not one or two strands, but hair balls and a big wad of hair on the toilet base. Should ask for a different room, but reading reviews it might be worse.

Visting the family farm for Christmas. My mother booked a room several weeks prior. So we could stay later and not have to drive back to GA and back to TN the next morning. An hour and a half drive. At 1030pm. on Christmas Eve, I'm attempting to check into the hotel after our family gathering. My ID has my family farm's address still on it. I was then informed that I couldn't check into my room. They refuse to rent a room to anyone who lives within 60miles. I showed them my teen sons drivers license that does have my GA home address on it, but I am still refused. I was forced to drive the 2 hours home or find a new hotel to stay at. On Christmas Eve, they turned away a father, his teen son, and 20-month-old twins. They also refused to refund my room. Stating I booked it as non-refundable. Will never stay or recommend this location. This experience has soured me on all IHG brands, currently my preferred hotel chain. Luckily, just three exits up in Athens. The Fairfield had rooms for a father, teen son, and 20-month-old twins. Seems like Marriott has gained a new customer.

We have stayed at plenty of Holiday Inn Express before and loved them but this one was really disappointing. Not cleaned like it should be. Pieces of food on the carpet still, bathroom shower head was rusty, just very unpleasant. It also has a mildew smell to it. Very disappointed with the up keep of this hotel.
