Absolutely a must go to restaurant in Swellendam!! You won't be dissapointed!

Unique experience that is a must-do when in Swellendam. Beach sand floors and casual dining, combined with delicious fresh seafood and sushi make it feel like you're at the coast rather than in the mountains.

Brilliant chance meeting led to dining here. Excellent seafood menu. A winter visit so great fires keeping the shack warm. Very interesting and varied sections. Beach and garden themes- very relaxed and creative.

Great coffee stop during an all day shopping trip to Swellendam. Really enjoyed the brand of coffee. Also, it is really calming to sit there in the garden, shaded by trees & plants & having the restaurant's friendly cat keep me company. What's great about this place is that if you want to be alone, you can be. Just choose one of the more secluded tables. But if you want to be in a big noisy group, then that is also an option! Wow Wow Wow Perfect deck table overlooking the garden and all its beauty. The sound of seagulls and the ocean with the sand under your feet. Then the Food that is bringing everything you would expect when you read seafood platter for two. Lot's of flavour and freshly caught fish made to perfection by Sid and served by Desiree, what a team. Will definitely see us again

Oh my word what a gem. It feels like you are on a beach in one part and in a garden in another part. Such a wonderful atmosphere and the food was out of this world. Would definitely go there again. The owners are so welcoming.

Best Hake and Calamary and Chips. So fresh, tasty, crispy chips, home made chilly sauce... Fireplace warmed us up nicely. Arty place and decorations is fun... Geraldine looked after us well and Blessing's cheff skills is recommendable. Thanks Ladies.

After reading the promising reviews we visited The Garden Shack with the family and we had a great evening! The restaurant has a beachy vibe with a fireplace (in winter) and the minimalistic interior makes it feel like a night at the beach in Swellendam. The seafood is fresh and deliciously prepared and the owners made us feel warm and welcome. The price / quality is really good and we bought a nice plant from the nursery to take home. We would love to visit again and definitely recommend The Garden Shack to others who appreciate an authentic family restaurant!

A hidden gems Let's start with... my husband isn't a sea food person but the man ate mussels & loved it!!! I am so impressed with the setting of the restaurant and the kindness of the staff not one moment was our glasses empty! The definition of attentiveness! Our waiter explained its only one chef and there will be a wait, mark my words WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!! Chef never lose your passion for cooking you're a star in the ruff!!! I & my husband will definitely become a monthly regulars

Raining outside..... but warm and toasty inside! Such a great experience!! Lovely people, fab Hake Curry and Chowder. Log fire and great lay back sounds all adds up to a REALLY nice evening. Sid the waiter did a brilliant job making sure we were looked after 10/10👏👏👏

Deliciously prepared seafood. Very relaxed and chilled atmosphere. Not fine dining, but an informal place for the entire family to enjoy. Ps. Wear sandals as the floor is covered in sea/river sand - totally a beach vibe.

Had a lunch there, the main meal to the pudding everything was really really good. I would definitely recommend if you are a lover of seafood. It was sooooo yummy 😋

Best sushi and freshest seafood in the Overberg!!! Try the seafood platter / chowder / calamari --- value for money!! The owner makes the food himself. AND it is kid-friendly 🤗

I not only visited Sid and Des ( owners) just over a month ago and have over the past 8- 10 years, when they were still operating out of a caravan, never had a less than satisfactory, seafood meal. We have visited the Garden Shack many times since then and have also eaten seafood at venue's all over our coastline and are yet to find a better seafood meal. Stay blessed and keep up the superb cuisine

Quick stop on our road trip for a sushi snack. Wish we ate a full meal because it was delicious and the vibe was awesome.
