Excellent fortress on the top of the hill of Schaffhausen. It is an emblematic castle in the medieval old city and you can see the river Rhine from a fantastic angle. Regardless to the fact that you have to climb a lot of stares it is an absolute must to visit it

Beautiful old fortress surrounded by grape vineyards. You can walk around freely all the way to the top. There is a long flight of stairs to reach the fortress but once inside the tower, there is a ramp instead of stairs to the top. There are free public restrooms at the top. The views from the top are 360.

This circular fortress dating from the 16th century should be the starting point of any trip to Schafhausen. It will take you about 10-15 minutes from the train station to reach the stairs that will take you al the way up to the entrance. Amazing view of the city and the Rhine River.

Please note that the opening hours in winter are different than those in summer. Very impressive building to visit when you are in Schaffhausen.

A nice fortress to visit quickly, open nearly always and free of charge. No decoration to see inside, so this is more for the very unusual inner architecture and the sightseeing on the town and on the river. Toilets available inside, free of charge.

A great piece of history and an interesting walk around with awesome views We went at 9am and there were no other people beside staff We opted to get the bus up from the train station and walk back through the old town.

Lovely site to visit. Easily accessible from the town (Schaffhausen ). Stunning views of the town below. If you enter from the town note that there are a fair share of stairs to climb. It is also accessible by car where there is parking for cars. Alternatively you can access the Munot from the Schaffhausen train station using the number 4 Bus direction Gruben. Also great views of the Rhein river. Nice added stop while touring Schaffhausen. A nice suggestion in the summer is to visit one of the ice cream shops in the town and get a take away ice cream before you do your little Munot walk. There is also a pretty rise garden at the top of the Munot , a nice little garden to enjoy the views of the town. Well worth the visit. Entry is free into the Munot.
