I never expected such rude service from a 4 star hotel, a Marriott nonetheless. They were rude, snobbish and felt racist even. They greeted a white couple with a smile, who checked in with me, offered to help them with luggage. I received none of the two. I was traveling alone, tired. And I had to fend for myself. They gave me wrong key. When I went to get the correct keys, they were so dismissive. The room is clean. That’s it. There is nothing superior or deluxe about it. The view from my window was another building across the street. The bar and food is okay.

Being a titanium, Marriott is an easy choice. Staying here was a pleasure - rooms, service, food, location - it ticks all the boxes. We stayed here for 5 nights and every evening, there was a beautiful spread! As a location in Switzerland, we enjoyed basing ourselves here as it’s an approachable day trip to Mount Rigi and Juangfroch.

Extremely helpful staff, pleasant and peaceful room. Very nicely cleaned. The cost cutting measures are quite evident though - tea/coffee prep items are limited, empty minibar, no slippers. Nothing too bad here, just an extra touch of niceness would have been really appreciated!

The hotel is pleasant and just been renewed with beautiful rooms and bathrooms. The staff is very helpful, polite and friendly. The breakfast is poor and very low quality with potatoes from frozen cubes, cheese slices with yellow dried borders, old dry buns you can’t cut with the knife and tasteless fruit. But the thing that I found outrageous is that they don't accept any cash payments. This is the first hotel I've come across worldwide that refuses all the types of payments. I consider this discriminating and absolutely not acceptable from a Marriott Hotel. I advise against staying in this hotel that selects customers and it very expensive for the general low quality they offer.

One of the best Marriott (the namesake brand) properties in Europe I’ve been to. Classic lobby, great taste of interior design, spacious room, comfy bedding product, and most importantly professional staff. They are at the perfect balance point of being discreet and caring - great example in the hospitality industry. The M club lounge is quite convenient as it is simply functional and is open 24 hours. Bravo to the team!

PLEASE READ FOR: WOMEN TRAVELLING ALONE PEOPLE WITH SAFETY CONCERNS The facilities are very clean and nice, the breakfast is good and the fitness center is great. However, we had two poor experiences that forced me to give this a two: The first is the strange smell when we arrived in our room. I'm not sure if it was a cleaning agent, but something smelled strange. The second, and more important, were safety concerns. We walked home late from dinner and there were many party-goers nearby. While this is usually not a problem, two men were fighting in front of the hotel restaurant and when we walked past to try to get to the hotel, one of them started following us, his fist raised for a punch. You can imagine how terrified I was. But what was even scarier, was that when we reached the main door to the hotel, it was locked. Two other people had been standing there for a while. The security guard had gone away and we were left outside, vulnerable. Luckily, he came back in time and we were not hurt, but I would not recommend this hotel to any woman travelling alone. This was one of the scariest experiences I've had in a long time.

I’ve never experienced such a poor and mean service at any hotel. This is not even close to Marriott standards. Our room had very bad smell, heating wasn’t working because “it was not the season” even though outside temperature was 2 degrees celsius. They gave us some small Chinese heater which was the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen in 4 star hotel. Hot snacks in the Club were chips and chocolate bars, nothing was even close be a hot snack. Sauna wasn’t working, even though they were struggling for like an hour to turn it on. The only experience I got from this hotel was being unwelcome for whole stay. Most miserly hotel I ever seen in my whole life.

Marriott basel is a nice hotel about a 10 min tram ride from basel SBB station (2 euro ticket). Lobby has a cool light hanging from the ceiling, and a bar next to reception. Room was very clean (gleaming faucets!), and quite big. There was a sitting chair in a corner, a working desk, and a modern bathroom. TV didnt have built in apps but they support chromecast. They took my requests for late checkout and a crib, but they ran out of body lotion when I called at 11pm.

Right next to the bus stop. Clean hotel. Bartender Christoph is amazing great information and wonderful service. Please give this man a raise, he represents the Marriott brand extremely well better than anyone over ever met!

The Marriott Basel is newly renovated … the rooms are in a classic style with a modern touch .. very nice .. the lobby is very Cousy with the bar as the centre piece .. ( see picture) the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, fantastic food and a wonderful team … the fitness area is brand new .. everything you need for a perfect work out .. the sauna area is the icing 🧁 on the cake 🎂 .. every outlet and the guest rooms are very easy accessible … the location of the hotel is next to the exhibition center with a great parking … the tram 🚋 station is in front of the hotel. It takes 10 min to the city center and main train station .. you can walk to the river rhine … the General Manager Angela Lilienthal and her team are very very welcoming and friendly .. we will be back for our 2024 strategy meeting .. thanks to the entire team !!

Our stay was a couple of weeks ago. This was an excellent hotel for our first visit to Switzerland! Johan was extremely helpful with directions and local places. The bartenders were great, too. The Heritage was delicious for dinner, and we thank our server for our daughter’s special dessert for her 12th birthday!

A very upscale Marriott on the east Bank of Basel. Lovely lobby and bar. Full M Club . Our room was large and modern.

Amazing hotel and amazing employees. The location is perfect. Next to tram, next to walking path, very close to the main bridge and the center and very easy to reach from all points of the city. The hotel is great. Clean. Big. Beautiful rooms and the employees are just a 10.

I booked the Basel Marriott for Christmas. It was exceptional. We used Marriott Suite Night upgrades to upgrade to a junior suite which included breakfast. The breakfast was great and available every day, including Christmas. The M Club lounge was also included (both with the room upgrade and my titanium status). We enjoyed wonderful dinners there nightly and took great advantage of the free drinks and Toblorone chocolate. As it was over the holidays, the rooms were affordable and in inclusion of both breakfast and dinner made it very reasonable. I would highly recommend the hotel if you can get in when prices are reasonable. Thank you to all the staff who worked over the holidays to make our stay comfortable.

Caters more to business travelers (attached to a convention center), but all in all a decent option if ever in Basel. Across the street from the tram that takes you to the train station. Walking distance from nearby sights and the old city. M club on the main level and a nice restaurant is attached. I’d stay here again.

Location was some way from the old town but gave us transport pass that gave us unlimited access to the tram. Nice lounge and spacious suite rooms.

Excellent room with great shower. Good benefits for no boy members. Good location on transit circle line.

Newly renovated. Across from Messeplatz and several tram routes. Plenty of shops in a few minutes walk. The Rhine is probably less than 30 mins. on foot, less by tram.

Beautiful new Marriott in central Basel. Many amenities including an electronic/push button, waterfall shower. No restaurant for lunch & dinner(might now be available at the time of this review.) Extraordinary breakfast room all made possible by manager Florian Gabathuler and his impeccable service. A definite revisit on our return to this charming city.

Good location, close to the city center and easy to get to. It was very warm in the room, and the AC was noisy. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Basel Marriott is a gem of a hotel, very close to the city center and next to a cross-road tram hub. Came with CFF from Bern to Basel SBB (SBB is the same as CFF and FFS) and used the CFF app to get the next available tram. Little did we know that the tram we took, was a one off taking 50 min making us think that the hotel was placed much further away than it really did. The direct trams (i.e T1) takes 6 min to Messeplatz... Check-in as a Bonvoy Elite was probably the most recognised status holder welcome I have ever encountered at any Marriott hotel in the world and was blown away. Got a room upgrade (4th floor) as per the elite status and late check-out, which we didn't utilise. Room was relatively up to-date (charging ports is what gives it away if it's new or not) and best of all, you could partly open the windows. Bathroom was nice with a shower that did not slash all over the place We did not book as room with breakfast as we otherwise would eat too much, but it looked nice. When staying in most main Swiss cities, you get a public transportation ticket valid for the whole stay, which is worth it weight i gold.

Former Swissotel. Have modernized and upped the service quality. Rooms are modern, gym is very good. Only drawback the hotel was not 100% modernized. For example, the windows could use another update

Best check in experience thanks to Maurice ! Beautiful brand new property with amazing Marriott bedding (I had the best sleep ever), however what made my stay unforgettable- is the fantastic arrival experience provided by Maurice. Such a warm genuine welcome, personalized interaction, he went above and beyond to anticipate all my needs and make sure I have all necessary information. Merci !
