One of the best zoo’s ever. Great to go in the winter as most exhibits are indoors and heated. Animals look VERY healthy and there are plenty of activities outside the exhibits like a cinematic panoramic presentation near the exit and an occasional llama/donkey parade. Even if you’re not in to animals, if you wanna break from the cold Rainey days the indoor exhibits are a winter tropical vacation!

It is very good organize and friendly for the kids. There is so many playground inside, real fun for the kids. Just a small remark is that there are usually no parking spaces nearby, the host provided enough parking spaces some 1.2 km away from the ZOO itself and organized a shuttle bus that transports visitors to the ZOO and back. And you can use public transport, both the bus and the tram itself.

There's lot to explore, different geographical sections, really nice and large areas built for the animals, beautiful paper map of the zoo, many gorgeous birds etc. We got there around 12-1pm and left around 4:30pm. So it took ~5 hours for two adults and we could have explore more, but got tired. Parking was a bit of a hassle, since the closest parking lots next to Masoala Halle, where we wanted to park, were full and we didn't understand it in the beginning - we thought the road was closed because of some construction work, but the reason was full parking lot. So we circled around a bit and finally managed to park in a parking lot next to Dolder Sports. We payed with Twint mobile app, since we didn't have coins. Parked for 5-6 hours for ~10 euros. Earlier I have heard no good reviews but I like this zoo. I will recommend if you are having kids under 10 years old then you must visit this place. I am from India so I never saw the Giraffe, penguins, Zebra, Austrich, Rhinoceros. So my wish is fullfilled now. I used toy train inside to visit directly last point but it skips the middle points. The newer, larger parts of the zoo were curated thoughtfully and had a lot of cool information regarding the regions of the world they were from. Even the food was different and themed more "locally". It helped going early as we were able to avoid the majority of children and families. The ticket price was reasonable and even food and beverages were affordable. The only negative was it felt the first part of the zoo, the original area felt crowded and not in line with how much space and theme like the expanded areas had. It is actually very easy to get to using the trams as they regularly drop you off within a ten minute walk. I would still recommend it if you're looking for an activity in Zürich!

Great Zoo on the hills of Zürich. It is large and I would definitely plan about 4 hours to have sufficient time to see all the animals. I liked how the animals looked in good shape and how clean the place was. There are multiple theme villages which are nicely designed. The quality/ price ratio is on point. Only con, there was a LOT of kids during our visit.

Despite the relatively cold weather most animals looked happy and thriving. Not the greatest variety of animals to see but the still a fun place to visit especially with the kids. The large greenhouse was an experience by itself, but when I opened the last door I found myself out of the zoo and had to walk back to the entrance! Good thing that I kept my tickets. tramline 6 has a final stop that is a five minute walk from the zoo.

Spectacular view and animal assortment. Good food too if needed and a lot of places to rest/drink. Be aware: to visit it all by feet will require around 4hours.

The zoo is very impressive. It covers a large area with different sections themed after different parts of the world, e.g. savannah, rain forest, etc. The elephant enclosure and the rain forest are probably the best parts of the zoo. You can easily spend a whole day exploring the area.

A Zoo where the animal are looked after and kept as best they can and a in an environment that is as natural as possible. Great place to spend a day, well worth the visit. Elephants, tigers, a jungle, penguins. Well explained and super well run. Parking fills quickly so be early or come by public transport.

It's a wonderful place with lots to see and learn. Is it not cheap though, especially inside food and drinks (I would recommend to have some in advance!). What I found missing (but really this is more my fantasy rather than a need) is an interactive map connected to the app (yes you can download the zoo app so to better understand your journey). In any case it is surely a wonderful and well organized zoo. Strongly recommended.

So far the best Zoo in Switzerland 🇨🇭 Well, not too many to say at least. Clean zoo, reasonable prices, a real smile from the kind, polite cashier, very welcoming entrance. Great variety of animals (and visitors 😁). I just missed cheetahs from big cats. Super deco, surrandings, great place to learn about the animals, additional knowledge available, super fun, thank you. 👍 We will be back. We were advised to get on the little train which just takes you to the bottom of the zoo and you walk back to the start...great advice. It's a huge site and parts of it are quite steep but there is plenty of seeting areas to stop and rest if needed. Many people took a packed lunch as with all things in Switzerland it is not the cheapest of places but they had a spacious restaurant with a good choice of food. The animals were in good sized enclosures, both inside and outside areas for those animals that need both. The animals all seemed to be in good health and well cared for.

Nice place to spend time with family, almost every animals around the world are here, nicely condition. The place decorated as similar as posible where the animal are living. Looks really comfortable for them and save for us to enjoy the time to watch or to Knowledge our self more about the animals. The staff are friendly, the zoo you can assess easily with the map and the guide directions around the corner. Really friendly place for the kids. Really recommend place to visit to enjoy the animals where they are slowly gone from the wild because of us

Loved visiting the zoo with my family and 4 year old daughter. The best part is it’s proximity to city centre so one doesn’t end wasting time in commute . It’s amazing how they have managed to create this isolated green animal habitat with a jungle inside amidst residential houses around . We enjoyed the Masoala express as it made it convenient for us to see the entire place without walking in the sun. We had lunch at the restaurant next to giraffe feeding area and enjoyed the vegan variety . So well organised and well managed . Truly worth a visit if you are on your family trip

I cannot give this place enough stars, I’ve never seen such beautiful nature and beautiful animals, it was a great visit. And the entrance fee is very affordable. The restaurants inside offer great food also for an affordable price, we had so much fun, you need a minimum of 5 hours to be able to see everything and eat. Love the Masoala Rainforest where you can get up close to lemurs and some other tropical animals. The new African zone is also very cool! Most of the enclosures seem quite spacious and we didn't see anxiously pacing animals during our visit.

It is a very big and well-organized zoo, with so many different kinds of animals! It can be tiring for young children, so bring a stroller with you!

Amazing Zoo with a lot to see. Zoo supports different Projects around the world to preserve nature and animals which is a great plus for me. Tickets are little higher than expected but totally worth it. Amazing savanna and rain forest just behind Zurich city jungle. Be prepared to walk a lot and take a whole day for this trip. Toilets and small restaurants are around every corner. But it’s better to bring your own water and snacks to save you some money.

Very good place for a day out. It has a massive indoor Rain forrest. A lot of good animal sanctuaries in the zoo. Most of the animals are living in a huge natural open environment. Only the penguins felt like they are in a prison. Overall a good zoo.

Wir fuhren mit dem Camper hin Uns wurde sofort ein Parkplatz zugewiesen vor der Regenwaldhalle. Stellte sich zum Schluss auch als Top raus weil wir beim Rundgang die Halle zuletzt machten und dann sofort am Fahrzeug waren. Ein kleiner Fußweg von 10 Min. Mussten nur 7 Min an der Kasse anstehen und konnte mit Euro zahlen. Wir waren zu 4 mit unseren Kindern (2&6). Ich kann Familien auch raten Essen mitzunehmen den die Preise im Verhältnis zu der Größe der Speisen ist abartig. Nicht mal eine Handvoll Pommes mit einer kleinen wässrigen Wurst über 10 Euro. Getränke über 5 Euro. Die Tiere waren alle zu bestaunen aber auch nicht wirklich was besonderes. Der Rundweg war Brutal. Wir haben Links begonnen und gingen zum Schluss über das Elefantenhaus zum Regenwald. Wir waren 6 Stunden unterwegs und waren bei den Elefanten schon Kontakter fertig. Genauso wie die Kinder. Also lieber 2 Tage einplanen und alles genießen. Für uns war es ein toller Ausflug und beeindruckend.

I loved it so much!! But it was hot so I’ll prefer we go in spring but I had so much fun! And I prefer you guys go in the weekdays because it doesn’t get crowded but anyways i highly recommend going there!!

Simply amazing Zoo. Walking is a must though, since it is quite big and requires you to go up and down the small hills. Despite that, really recommend visiting with family and friends.

Zurich Zoo is known to be one of the best zoos in the world. However, our experience was extremely disappointing. The zoo is very big and can hold a large capacity of animals. But we barely saw any animals on the day. The directions weren't the most useful and it was particularly hot which made it even more of an ordeal. The inside toy train known as the Masoala express was a welcome respite and we used it often to transport ourselves from place to place. We didn’t see a lot of the indoor animals and even the whale: ocean animals sections had a PowerPoint presentation running! We went on a weekday and it was slightly crowded but no long lines. The restaurant within had a wide array of food and drinks which was quite enjoyable with a decent view of birds and ducks. We plan to go back again and hope for a better experience.

Simply wild Africa in the city of Zurich ... such a fascinating experience to go on a glimpse of wild safari only 15 min drive from the centre of one of the greatest cities on the European continent ... a must visit when you are around the city of Zuri whether you are alone or with your family ... good variety of animals and a solid educational experience for those who are interested in the wildlife.

I don‘t know too many Zoos, but Zoo Zürich must be among the best. The management is doing a great job and is constantly upgrading ans enlarging the site thanks to successful fundraising campaigns. I believe they are doing a great job in providing a surrounding for the animals that is as natural as possible. Of course, the latter is more true for the newer facilities than for the older ones.

Probably the largest zoo I have been to in my life, unfortunately when I was there the enclosures for the lions and mountain lions were unavailable. But the zoo was great anyways, lots of animals and many places to get food and drink.

Easy to reach from Zurich HB , Zoo is very huge , animals and birds well care . Enough space for them and close to their natural space. Tips : zoo is very big comfortable shoes is must ! Snakes abs water is allowed. Feed animals not allowed , to cut bamboo for home as souvenir is prohibited! There is a big shop with unique souvenirs with friendly prices !

Probably this is one of the best Zoo I have ever visited. This Zoo is designed with beautiful landscapings and the route to Zoo attractions is very well connected.

One of the best zoos worldwide. Apart that they offer a variety of animals to see, Zoo Zurich continuously takes part of global breeding programs in order to preserve endangered species and donates to several organizations for protecting natural habitats all around the globe. Also, they are constantly modernizing and enlarging the facilities/infrastructure for the good of the animals - see the Elephant House, Lewa savanne, Panterra (currently under renovation), Masoala rainforest just to mention a few examples. So even if you have concerns that we humans still hold wild animals captive, Zoo Zurich really tries everything to give the animals the best conditions in captivation and do not just put them in small sad cages. Also, there is plenty activities for kids (several playgrounds, pet zoo, interactive learning tools at some cages). So if you live in or in vicinity Zoo I recommend buying the annual pass - it’s always a good and nice family activity. Bonus: the zoo is located at the top of Zurich Berg providing a wonderful view over the city.
