7/20/23 Very nice, well-maintained hiking trail from Brunni to Bannalp. Please note public transport times from the Bannalpbahn valley station (long lunch break)

The best way to do this wonderful hike is like this: from Engelberg with the cable car up to Brunni, further up to Ristis. There you follow the Walenpfad in the direction of Bannalp. From there you take the cable car down to Ober-Rickenbach and then the bus to Wolfenschiessen. From there back to Engelberg or Lucerne. The path is stunning! Approx. 12 km, 600 meters in altitude, sometimes it goes down steeply, but it is secured with steel cables. Older children and people in normal physical condition can also do this route

Magic trail with ever changing landscape, feels very diverse and refreshing... Not too difficult to walk, did everything in one go spending 3.5 hours... Absolutely worth doing it, one of the most beautiful trails in Switzerland

Beautiful walk that I did between Brunni and Bannalpsee which, if you don't walk back, requires some extra time to go back to the start with the public transports. Totally worth it! Towards Bannalp not for the unsure foot: early in the season (May) there may even be snow on the impervious path forcing you to walk back. In this case, along the way, the path is marked as closed. But uncomplicated path till the last main viewpoint: best enjoyed with sun and a picnic. Bring some cash to descend with the Bannalp gondola.
