My husband and I stayed in the tower room. We both felt we had the best room in the entire hotel. There was a beautiful balcony and a private side patio with a spa tub. The view was most impressive and the hotel and grounds are well taken care of. The staff was the nicest people, always smiling, and wanting to help make your stay better. We will definitely be returning, especially to room 107!

Fantastic hotel on a fab location. Directly at the lake in walking distance of the most restaurants and shops. The service comes twice a day. In the morning and before going to bed. They are all very friendly and service oriented. Everything is cleaned. Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that I do not like the furniture and style of decoration. It is very old fashioned.

We stayed for two nights, and loved it. My husband and I were in a tower room, which was absolutely beautiful. The breakfast terrace was a wonderful space, really light and airy. We hadn’t taken swimming costumes and they were able to lend us some, which was really helpful. We also ate in the restaurant, which was tasty and beautiful, out by the lakeside. Overall a really positive experience!

From the first moment of entering the hotel the staff were fantastic. The hotel itself is beautiful - the room, the comfy beds, the superb bathroom, linen and towels - all excellent. Breakfast was included and wonderful - excellent choice and quality. The location cannot be better and having on-site parking (free outside, payment in closed garage) make it most convenient indeed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay in August. Very pleasant and comfortable hotel. All staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately for us the Ticino did not live up to its reputation for lovely weather. Even on the days when it was warm, there was a cool wind off the lake. The hotel made up for it though! The service was excellent, parking our car in the outside parking rather than insisting that we used (and paid for) the inside parking. My wife has to have dialysis and the hotel provided the taxi service - once in a big Mercedes that made her feel like a queen! Breakfast offered a good wide choice - the one weakness was that the device which was supposed to keep the bacon and scrambled egg did not keep the food very warm! The hotel is a very dramatic building, with incredible painted ceilings which have been preserved even whil being partially covered by new walls/partitions. It is charming and very comfortable. Lifts are available everywhere, although sometimes the way through is a bit labyrinthine! (but you get used to it! The restaurant is very good with a lovely view of the lake. The gardens are lovely at this time of year (April) with some spectacular camelias as well as Japanese cherries and magnolias. We will happily return, perhaps in Autumn!

This is our favorite place in Ascona. The old Castello has a lot of character and charm, and the garden and swimming pool make it very attractive. Just the rooms need some upgrade in their interior. They still have very much an "80's" look... and for a 4 star hotel it should be a bit more contemporary... I hope they do this by next year ...

Hotel was lovely. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The location was superb, right next to the waterfront. My wife and I could not have had a better vacation experience anywhere else in Ascona. We will return for sure!!! Thanks to the hotel and its staff for a great experience.
