A nice place to visit for kids and those who used to be kids! They have added some virtual reality options to make it more interesting. You will see many teddy bears there! Those who were kids before 1980s will feel particularly nostalgic.

As creepy as this place will look like to you during your visit, it'll still somewhat amuse you by the quantity of endless different toys inside the museum, as well as discovering the story of the woman who created the first soft toy..if you are a toys fan this place will keep you busy...

So nice for kiddos, teenagers and even adults! The staff is nice, though you nearly never meet them because the tour is conducted through an iPad. We went an hour before closing, so we had the whole place to ourselves, I recommend you do the same if you hate crowded spaces. I do not know the tickets price, as we entered using the Swiss travel pass, however I image it to not be to expensive.

One of the cutest museums I have ever seen. The details are just amazing but is too much to process. This is a really cute place, the dolls are full of history and the ladies in charge are really sweet. Lovely.

Loved it, especially the teddy bears. Most of the toys are incorporated into carefully arranged scenes, some of them of impressive size.

A vast array of toys and collectibles awaits you! Allocate at least 2 hours to fully appreciate every item on display. During our visit, we spent 2.5 hours exploring but only had time to skim through the first floor before the museum closed. This place caters to adult toy enthusiasts and history aficionados alike. On Sunday afternoon it was relatively quiet, but it's worth noting that due to the nature of the interactive tablet tour could become noisy if crowded. Having the option to connect headphones would enhance the experience.

The place is bigger than it seems, it consists of 4 floors. You start from the 4th floor and then going down. When I firstly entered the exhibition I was excited: lots of vintage teddy bears, cute doll houses etc. All of them have tonnes of tiny details, you can watch them for hours if you are a fan of this kind of stuff. But for an average person it gets boring after 1-2 floors of the same things again and again. I mean yes, it's impressive and people who made it did a great job. But it's a bit difficult to pay attention to each toy house because of overwhelming amount of details. Ridiculous but I don't think it could be interesting for kids, more for the adults. Anyway nice activity for a rainy day, also price is good comparing to other museums in the city.

Our visit was a truly magical experience. The level of design, creativity and excellence was first class. Considering the age of most of the exhibits, the renovation and presentation was absolutely wonderful. I would sincerely recommend this museum for all ages and nationalities.

If you love toys this is the museum for you. I came here because I make dollhouse miniatures in 1:12 scale. I was looking for inspiration and this place didnt disappoint me. There were not so many people when we came here and it was on a Saturday, so we could enjoy each exhibit without being disturbed. The entrance fee was also cheap. Definitely coming back here if I needed more inspiration.

I find this museum a little odd. I’m not sure who the target audience is meant to be. I went there with my 2 year old and a friend with a 3 year old and the children were clearly not so welcome. There is a very tempting gift area as you enter the museum with loads of breakable things on the floor and on low shelves. It’s not an area easily avoidable and so naturally the toddlers wanted to go and see. And were hissed at and harshly spoken to by staff if they even went near something. Hardly a warm welcome. I actually got quite upset at the end as my son wasn’t touching anything but the woman working there was clearly just wanting us to leave. The museum was full of adults when we went and fortunately everything is behind glass but we got a lot of stern glances as our toddlers wanted to press buttons and let off some steam. If you like old teddy bears and slightly creepy and dusty dolls houses and don’t have kids with you, you’ll love it!

A Toy museum that has 4 floors of the exhibition for you to enjoy ur time at. They are so beautifully crafted and carefully placed around to let you see how well-designed the toys were made. The thought and time put into making these toys can easily be observed and understood while viewing them. It was an enjoyable time to spend in the museum and it didn't cost so much, especially with the basel card that discounted half the cost

We liked the museum. Lots of toys, some of them interactive. I liked the most the thirds floor with the sportive toy animals :). But the thing that can be improve it is to add the story behind the toys, who created them, for example, in which country, etc. It is a four floors museum and on the ground floor there is a shop and also a cafe and a restaurant. Entrance fee for adults: 7 CHF

The exhibition spaces, over four floors, was certainly impressive. The wide array of different types of toys combined with the sheer volume and diversity of different time periods/manufacturers made for an interesting wander around. An exhibition on corsets through the ages was a welcome surprise, which included a comprehensive written book, entertained my curiosity, and served as a break between toys, toys and more toys. I dropped the fifth star because I believe this wasn't as child friendly as it could be. Every single element was behind glass, and a child may get bored, with no interactive exhibits.

Amazing Museum. Breath taking miniature collection makes you travel to early 1900s. Details in the doll houses are worth paying extra attention. Full of teddy bears. I would say this Museum would be more interesting for the adults than the kids. Very reasonable entrance fee. 50% discount with the Basel card

This was such lovely museum! 4 floors filled with teddy bears and dolls, all doing remarkable things. It was amazing to see all the different exhibitions and doll houses for the dolls. We did get a screen that were able to give us information in a 3D way with sound, it was a fun add on and very popular with the kids. Personally I would have enjoyed a pamphlet or text to read for more information. Nonetheless, it was a great museum!

Unique museum that is FILLED with toys in large glass displays. Free with the swiss travel pass. On the ground floor (then begin your tour on the top floor via elevator) they offer you an IPad to use on the various red "QR" symbols throughout the museum for a quick VR animation video. I thought it was unique to use at the beginning but ended up just holding the Ipad the rest of the time due to my lack of interest in the device. I wish there was a way to put the ipad on standby because it will continue to search for the QR codes and get hot/display a full red screen. A lot of stuffed animals, mini houses/trinkets, and electronic/moving toys. I would suggest enjoying the museum without the Ipad.

Cute and weird museum, good for killing an hour. You start at top floor and work your way down four floors - it does get a bit overwhelming after a bit so not a good match if you're tired. CHF7 entry is worth it!

Wonderful and magnificent collection. I never heard of this place even on YouTube travel guide to Basel. Most hotel offer discount card and you can pay 3.5 Franck, half price, to go through 4 floors of amazing toy history and collection. Children really loved this world largest toy museum. I enjoyed it as adult as well. The display on the outside window were amazing too. Great location and wonderful staff. Don’t forget to ask about app guides so you won’t be as confused as I was when you see no descriptions in the museum. It is generous donation from a discreet Basel family, who still runs the museum. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to let us see this. Love your wonderful staff as well. Your curators must be stellar. Window displays on the street side are something out of fairytale.

Rather nice museum. 4 floors, many collections of different times of teddy bears, dolls.. Clean toilets in every floor. Cafeteria with modest selection. 4y old liked only those exhibitions which were with movements and interactions (turned on by buttons-works every 5 min, not sooner). Some dolls were quite creepy.. Also there is a very tempting gift area as you enter the museum with loads of breakable things on the floor and on low shelves. It’s not an area easily avoidable and so naturally the toddlers wanted to go and see. And were hissed at and harshly spoken to by staff if they even went near something. Unfortunately no playarea for kids at all..

This museum is a must visit! The historical toys, carousels and bear collection are just magical, but this time I went specifically for their special exhibition. Special exhibitions are very well put together every time, very educational and interesting. Their mix of old items and modern examples just keeps your attention fixated at all times during your walk. It just makes me think there's a really smart person/staff behind this, it must take lots of effort to make this experience as a whole be. Last time it was Bags, and it's been the first time I took time to read about each and every item exhibited, and catalogs came in many languages which was also great. To sum up, it's a vintage geek heaven.

(Translated by Google) I eagerly visited the museum. Despite Tuesday afternoon vacation time, I was startled when suddenly a grandmother or mother with their grandchildren or children with buggy appeared above and the children were noisy. When I drew attention to myself, I thought that the companion of the children would reprimand them, but nothing of the sort happened, despite repeated angry looks on my part. Despite Corona, more than 5 people were admitted !? Why!? When I spoke to an employee of the TD, he said that it was normal and despite Corona you couldn't stop anyone, after all, that a toy museum and children were also very welcome. And if it's too loud for me, should I use earplugs !? No, that clouded my enthusiasm and joy. I expect discipline in a museum because some visitors want to enjoy the objects in peace. If several visitors are let in, then at least at the cash register you should be informed that others are upstairs or in the museum. So people assumed that they were alone and did not reprimand their children. So no decency and no upbringing! Even foreign visitors with a buggy in a museum? And when you address such people as an individual, they look as if they came from the moon, so they are an ET. My suggestion: Reserve certain days only for children or families or just individuals so that the other visitors can enjoy your visit on other days. Although toys, that doesn't mean that adults should be undesirable. I felt very disturbed. and when you say that, the family should be considerate. But just ignorance instead. Atmospheric and thematic, the exhibition is unmatched on all three floors. Wouldn't be the disruptive factors. The topics encourage parents or grandparents or whoever to tell their children about the old days or the past. Kein Anstand also und keine Erziehung !

(Translated by Google) The entrance does not suggest it at all and neither does the entrance fee, but this is quite an entertaining museum. Probably mainly due to the exhibition of (Dutch) fairground miniatures and (completely crazy !!) the very extensive collection of walking sticks. I never knew this existed! Incidentally, I do not know whether the latter was a temporary exhibition. Check it out and definitely see it!
