I entered here and felt like in a time machine which took me back in time hundreds of years. Moody atmosphere, you feel the breath of history on your neck. The church is well kept and preserved in its original state. Lots of interesting architectural details.

Offene Kirche Elisabethen in Basel, Switzerland is a remarkable place of worship that embodies the values of inclusivity, diversity, and social justice. From the moment you step inside, you are welcomed with open arms by a community that is truly committed to creating a welcoming space for all. The architecture of the church is stunning, with a beautiful blend of traditional and modern elements that create a truly unique atmosphere. The high ceilings, stained glass windows, and intricate artwork are all breathtaking, but what really sets this church apart is the way it integrates technology and multimedia into its worship services. The community at Offene Kirche Elisabethen is incredibly diverse, with people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate and support each other. The church's commitment to social justice is evident in the many community outreach programs it offers, including initiatives to support refugees, the homeless, and those in need of mental health services. One of the standout features of this church is its music program, which features a wide variety of concerts and performances throughout the year. The acoustics of the space are excellent, and the performances are always of the highest quality. Overall, Offene Kirche Elisabethen is a truly special place that deserves to be experienced firsthand. Whether you're a member of the community or just visiting Basel, a visit to this church is an experience that you won't soon forget.

The building is impressive, beautiful details, proportions, vaults... 🤩 Once "for the glory of God", now desecrated into a café, party hall and... "saint" gay !? What? 😰 It's too much, even for me! "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Or maybe they DO know…?

Beautiful church inside and outside. The interior architecture is so beautiful with a cafe on site. There's a machine where you can donate via credit card, so cool! On the outside, there are few similar to Louvre (Paris) miniature.

The Elizabethen Open Church is an architectural symbol in Basel. The construction took place from 1857 to 1865. The interior arches as well as the stained glass windows are worthy to mention. Since 1994 the building is used for spiritual and cultural activities including classical and modern music concerts, theatre, dances, even special dinners. A visit to Basel would not be complete without visiting this monumental church.

Constructed from 1857-1865, gothic style, today host all events and opened for community. Must see, although is not in the top 10 amenities...

CASH ONLY (I had to run down the street to a bank). This place really has location going for it. You can sit in the cafe part or the church. Would be good place to go for coffee. The staff are very nice. I wouldn't recommend the food

I love the Elizabethen Open Church which is definitely a symbol in Basel. It was in preparation for a special event when I visited the church on Oct 2017. Some interesting images captured to be shared here.
