A must if you’re visiting Zurich for the first time! In just under two hours, we walked the entire Old Town and learned much about Zurich and Switzerland’s history. Not only that, but our guide expanded into European history as well to contextualize the content. He was very knowledgeable, personable and friendly! He pointed out many local shops and restaurants for us to try which were all superb. The whole group enjoyed his anecdotes and we were very satisfied. We even got some chocolate at the end! Don’t skip out on this experience :)

Free walking tours in European cities are excellent. The tour in Zurich was no different. It was exceptional. Peter our guide made the tour on a very wet Christmas Day memorable. I highly recommend it.

We had a great time during our tour. Our guide, Esther, was awesome! She was very knowledgeable of the history of the city and explained everything with lots of details. It was a pleasure to learn so much about Zurich in the two hours the tour takes, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to learn a little bit more about the city. Of course, being a free tour means you don’t need to pay a fee, but it’s really recommended to leave a good tip to the guide. They will always appreciate it, especially when they make these two hours run by so fast with the amount of interesting information you get during that time.

Emre, I hope I got that right, was awesome. He's very knowledgeable on Zurich and Switzerland as a whole. He was very detailed in his descriptions of the city over time and its many sites. If you visit Zurich for the first time, this is a must do.

Great experience, in a city where everything is expensive it was nice to have such a great tour for free. Our guide Jonas was very knowledgeable, and was able to tell us many stories about the history of Zurich as well as recommend places to eat and other things to see in the city that were not part of the tour. Our tour started at 11:00 and we were interrupted by construction a couple times and ended at about 13:00 and still made a very interesting and informative tour. We took the tour in English (our guide spoke English very well) but today, tours were also offered in Spanish and German.

An absolute must! So much valuable information. Our tour guide, Johnathan, was a wealth of knowledge. Key info shared, historic highlights pointed out around the city, and recommendations were all highlights of our time in Zurich.

Extremely good! Probably the best tour I've ever been to. Julien is a great guide. A must do in Zurich.

Jonathan did an incredible job with the tour, was incredibly knowledgable and fun to listen to. We hit the main sightseeing attractions of Zurich, and learned a lot! The tour also came with a little treat, which was nice, and Jonathan was super helpful and open to giving tips for places to eat or places to go. The tour was at least 1.5 hours starting at 11, so you should have an idea where you want lunch before or during the tour! There was one break in the middle in a picturesque place, great time to take pictures (but we had to take care of some, uh, dog business)- we retraced our steps to take more photos. Dogs totally welcome :)

Guide Maria was so knowledgeable and answered all the other other questions we had during the tour. Helped us with many other questions being tourists like things to do, places to see, and general cultural questions. Great tour and highly recommended

That was really great tour I've attended about the West of Zurich with guide Peter. Very informative but always with some memorable and vivid illustrations and jokes. Enjoyed it a lot! Thank you Peter and Free Walking Tours👍🙌

The tour "New in Zurich" should be on the to-do list of each expat freshly arrived in town. It's a great opportunity to learn about Zurich & Switzerland, make questions and discover life hacks that would make life in your first weeks in your new country much easier. Marisa was of great great help!

We had a lot of fun on the tour with Maria yesterday. She is a great guide and has a very bright personality. She has answered all the questions, even very difficult ones. It was my second time in Zurich (my sister lives here) and I will definitely recommend this tour to everyone.

Jonathan, our tour guide and founder of the company, has a wealth of knowledge and is very entertaining. He kept our two teenagers engaged. He knows quite a bit about historical and modern Switzerland and is well traveled himself. Zurich is an expensive city. So while not compulsory a tip is highly appreciated but still well worth our time and money.

Great tour and very informative! Starting point is easy to find/get to. Our tour guide was great! We had such a large group and he was able to keep everyone together. He even gave everyone a post card and chocolate! Will definitely go on one of their tours again when I'm back in Switzerland.

I joined the Zurich West Tour with a friend and it was an amazing experience. A must do if you already did the Historical City Tour and you would like to get to know a vibrating hipster area of the city you wouldn't normally expect to see. Both interesting for tourists and new comers living in ZĂźrich.

I’m new to Zurich and this a brilliant tour to get an overview of Zurich. I did both tours, the free walking tour and the new to Zurich tour. Both tours were excellent, full of funny and interesting stories and very helpful and useful advice. My tour guide for both tours was Julian, thank you Julian for the tours!

Had a wonderful tour with Maria on a cold rainy Sunday. She is one of the founders of Free Walking Tours Zurich since 7 years ago, and is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about Zurich. I had joined free walking tours in London and Barcelona before, but Maria's tour was by far the best. Something was obviously different in how she gave info and summed up info at the end of the tour so I was able to remember most of what she said and the route she took us, to be able to revisit these places in detail later. Bravo, Maria!

Jonathan had a great personality and made this walking tour of Zürich a lot of fun! He didn’t spend too much time on any one topic but talked about the important things including history, culture, food, and of course chocolate! He actually gave us chocolate and we had a little taste test to see if we could tell the difference between generic chocolate and genuine Swiss chocolate. This was a great way to learn about Switzerland and Zürich and get the lay of the land. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting the city.

Great way to take on a stopover ! Learned alot and Emer was very informative. There is alot of uphill walking on stone streets as well as numerous stairs. It was not wheelchair friendly.

Enjoyed a wonderful hour and a half walking tour with Josef, a Swiss native, who shared across the spectrum of Zurich's history, culture, and architecture. He patiently engaged a large crowd of international tourists, delighted us with his sense of humor, and pushed on to a great finish despite the onset of rain. Heartily recommend.

Lovely tour and Zurich is great to walk through, with an interesting history. I think our guide's name was Maria, she was brilliant. In such an expensive city it's great to have a free walking tour, but remember to bring cash to tip the guide at the end so this can continue.

Great walking tour with Annelise!! Couldn't hear her at times because she didn't have a microphone, probably also because Zurich is a very quiet city. Would recommend for anyone who wants to have a lovely introduction to the city.

Patrick was amazing. I absolutely recommend this tour for those visiting Zurich. He has a ton of knowledge about Zurich and don't forget to bring Swiss Francs cash. I only had Australian dollars with me at that time but he was kind enough to accept them. Thank you again.

We took the English speaking Downtown Zurich Tour. Our local guide was really nice and he showed us the some of the best places of Zurich. I strongly recommend this tour. In 1.5 hour you will see the most important attraction points of Zurich. At the end of the tour you can ask for local tips for restaurants and other stuff.

Depending on who your guide will be, will make the difference if you have a great time or a mediocre time. The central Zurich tour was super crowded but good because the guide was great and actually interacted with people. He even gave everyone chocolate! The West Zurich tour was a let down. The guide seemed like an introvert and didn't seem that comfortable guiding us. She would awkwardly stop talking and then go in another direction. We all just assumed we had to follow her. 4/5 stars for the guy, 2 stars for the girl.

I did 4 of these tours, Downtown Zürich - very good and helpful with getting your bearings and shows you the main sites around the old town. Would recommend! Chocolate - Very tasty! Get to try about 6 things. Firstly mini macaroons (2 various flavours), then some chocolate that is made differently to other chocolate - white, milk and dark. I wasn’t a massive fan of this especially when the ‘milk’ choc is actually 60% Cuba cocoa but still interesting to taste as it’s very different to your standard chocolate. Zurich West - Fun, unique and quirky! If you’re into creativity/history and more unusual things then I’d definitely recommend this. I only did this tour as I didn’t know what else to do as I’d exhausted Zürich in 2 days! However I’m very glad I attended this tour. Zurich Pub Crawl - I wouldn’t recommend this although the company of the other people attending was good however I felt the guides didn’t really engage much or tells us anything interesting about the bars or the history etc. - I am however comparing this to a ruins bar crawl I did in Budapest so definitely different. Although I felt the guides were helpful in translating for us they kind of said this is the bar, get your own drinks and then 30-45mins later right we’re going. The main disappointment of this bar crawl is that we went to ‘Big Ben’ which was a British bar. Which I have nothing against but I’m in Zurich not Britain! On a positive note the guides for the first 3 tours were very knowledgable, helpful and friendly. The guides for the bar crawl were also helpful and friendly but just felt like they didn’t engage much and kept themselves to themselves.

We were around 30 people for the English tour and she was easy to follow and her English is so good to understand! At the end she gave us very good advice where to eat fondeu and other specialities. Best tour so far! Thank you Maria 👍

We had a great time at the Free walking tour. The best part of this tour was our awesome guide. Patrick! What an awesome dude, he was very happy and entertaining. He knew so much about Zurich one could only look at him in admiration. I think I love him. Anyways it was awesome to go around the city and see new places I’ve never been! It really was a great experience for an obvious great price. Thank you Patrick for taking time to educate us on this beautiful city!
