We tried three times to visit - it has limited opening hours, so check before you go - but we're glad we persisted. This building has a fascinating history and a lot to see, including a crypt with original foundation stones, the "execution stone", and some information about the many years the building was not a church. No entrance fee, and there's a bathroom available. Put it on your list.

The Wasserkirche (The Water Church or Church by the Water) is definitely a landmark in Zurich considering the role Zurich played during the Reformation at the time of the Great Reformer Ulrich Zwingli. Its location is incredible, right by the river Limmat. The building is relatively small and the interior is simple with three large stained glass windows in the back of the altar. It also has a very nice organ. Considering the fact that the first building on this site was erected on the 10th Century, a visit is a must!

This church was built in 10th century and is situated between the Grossmünster and the Fraumünster, on an island between Limmat river. Later in 1839, the island is connected with the bank of river. The church serves as a library between 1634 to 1917.

Historic church and area. A must for a tourist. Here you can take one ofe the best and most charachteristic fotos from Zurique. Great for walking and bike. You have a lot of Tram connections too.

The ancient heart of this city. Much more interesting than the church is the holy pagan stone in the crypt underneath. You can visit it. It's a ritual site from when Switzerland was not christian or even celtic yet. Back when our forebears had no god and worhsipped the river, spirits and nature in general. I can recommend Kurt Derungs books on Zürich, if you are interested in this.

A historical reformist church by the river, and a important landmark of Zurich. Simply but well decorated to reflect the reformists view of a place of worship. Highly recommended.

I went to a concert there, but the acoustics is not ideal. The church is also uncomfortably cold.

It is a small and simple Church. There are three nice stained glass windows. You can find the chopping block that was used by the Romans to decaptivate the city's saints Felix and Regula, in the crypt.

This is the oldest church in Zurich. It is not very large and is currently used for a variety of events. Next to the river, hence its name.

(Translated by Google) (from the outside) This is not the most important church in Zurich, but if you go to see the Grossmunster, it's always good to see the Wasserkirche. There is, at the entrance, like a small sheltered courtyard. (Original) (vue de l'extérieur) Ce n'est pas l'église la plus importante de Zurich, mais si vous allez voir la Grossmunster, c'est toujours bien de voir la Wasserkirche. Il y a, à l'entrée, comme une petite cour abritée.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful little historic church whose founding dates back to the year 1000. Currently there are concerts and occasionally art exhibitions inside. The small crypt below the church is worth a visit. Caution Do not hit the head. (Original) Schöne kleine historische Kirche, deren Gründungszeit bis aufs Jahr 1000 zurückgeht. (Translated by Google) Pleased that Catholics and Protestants talk together. But approach there is little heartfelt. The Catholic even compared the indulgence trade with the eco-tax, which was also true to the law rather than worthy of Zwingli's effect (Original) Erfreulich dass Katholiken und Protestanten zus. reden. Aber Annäherung gibt es herzlich wenig. Der Katholik verglich gar den Ablasshandel mit der Ökosteuer, die ja auch grrechtfrrtigt sei anstatt zu würdigen was Zwingli bewirkte
