Highly recommend making your way up there it's totally worth it even though the price is a bit much. The glacial exhibits are mind-blowing and a fun activity to do if you don't want to go outside since it's freezing and there is always snow there. We went in August and on a good day you are able to ski there. The decision if it's allowed to ski that day is made at 06:00am by the staff. And the first lift up is at 08:30am. Our hotel offered a service to check if the lift will be going up or if the wind was too severe.

One of the most magnificent viewing balconies in the Alps. Great view of Matterhorn, Weisshorn and Zinalrothorn; after a few steps still Castor, Pollux and Lyskamm. In the middle of the most beautiful ski area in the world. From the Breithorn plateau particularly spectacular panorama.

Visited in July 2022 and will never forget it. It was a little foggy at the top which was a bit of a shame but nothing like the feeling of being inside a cloud lol. I did suffer with altitude sickness whilst up there but my husband and sons were fine. And we visited near closing time so weren't up there very long so bear this in mind if you're prone to being affected by high altitudes (I didn't know I did until I was up there) but still had the best time 😁

Summer ski (early september 2023) Bought the summer ski day pass to include in a nice Zermatt day trip. Sadly the weather conditions forced me to do it on a sunday, which severely increased the crowd level. Since the cable car station was partly under construction, I had to wait 30min at a ticket counter to get my pass I bought online. Included in the summer ski pass are the way up to Glacier Paradise, the glacier paradise itself and all open ski lifts on the glacier. The ride up is very scenic, as you go over the glaciers. You can take amazing pictures at Trockner Steg, from the gondola and the glacier paradise viewpoint. If you want to go to the restrooms, note the the ones at glacier paradise charge 2chf. The ski runs were well groomed and snow conditions were perfect (heavy snowfall the days before). Though it was not enough snow for the run to Trockner Steg to be open. The ski lifts that were open were not too busy, no long lines. There were many professional skies training there. Gladly the new plateau rosa gondola was finished and you could easily return to glacier paradise. After all, it was a nice experience, but a kinda stressful and expensive one. Cool experience to once ski in summer. Just to let you know: doing a Zermatt ski day trip by car is a terrible hussle. First you pay expensive 16chf at Täsch parking lot. Another 16 for the train. Summer ski pass was around 90chf. And the gondolas are 2km from the train station (so either buy a taxi or walk with your ski gear)

An amazing view of the surrounding alps. If you have a clear day, you get a great view of the matterhorn. However, the better view is the glacier field and the many, many peaks. Then you can go inside the glacier and look at the stratification with sediment. There are crevasses you can look into. They also have several ice carvings. The gondola ride up and down are also scenic so be sure to look around. We have the Swiss half price pass which also applies here so the cost was more manageable.

The glacier paradise is near the peak of Matterhorn. However, this is not on the actual mountain which can be viewed in a distance from the glacier paradise The glacier paradise has a very nice observation deck from where you can directly watch the Matterhorn. Breithorn is visible on the other side of the observation deck. The glacier is accessible directly for skiing.

One of the overlooked experiences at Zermatt (Gornergrat is more popular owing to the proximity to the town); but well worth visiting when weather permits. Be sure to check the views on the webcam before the ascent. The cable ride takes abut an hour, offering wonderful views of the Matterhorn and Matter valley. The summit station has a great panoramic view of the southern Alps. Its best to dress in warm clothing and wear sunglasses to enjoy the view for a while on the platform!
