This was my first time in a fine-dining vegan restaurant — it was a nice experience overall. The evening concept is simple: there is a surprise menu with four to eight courses. You can have a wine or juice pairing with your dinner. I wanted to try all the flavors, so I went for the full eight course surprise menu with an accompanying wine pairing. We were told that the size of the dishes would be scaled according to how many we ordered. We saw that in action a during the evening when a nearby table ordered only four courses: their main course had three pieces of pastry filled with mushrooms — ours had only two. This was fine, though, since we couldn't have eaten more at that point. Like the food, the amount of wine is also scaled back. While you do get a different wine for each dish, you get less than a full glass of each. The dishes were all beautifully arranged. There were some fun combinations such as pumpkin soup with pear sorbet. As one would expect, there were lots of colors and flavors and we generally enjoyed trying everything. The taste ranged from smoky (charred leek) to creamy (pumpkin soup) to somewhat hearty (packets of Savoy cabbage). Nothing was spicy or very intense, but it was all tasty in its own right. The service was smiling and friendly. The chef served some of the plates himself, which was a nice touch. The whole thing took just over four hours, which means roughly 30 minutes between each course (but with some smaller "greetings from the kitchen" in between). We felt that was too long and the wooden chairs became increasingly uncomfortable after sitting on them for so many hours. Tips for next time: order four courses instead of the full eight. This will speed things up and since the portions are a little bigger, I think we'll still leave the table feeling full.

Fabulous, high end vegan restaurant, with set 4 to 8 course menus in the evening. The food is prepared with a lot of attention to detail, very creative and well executed. The atmosphere is comfortable with helpful and friendly staff. On the expensive side, as you would expect, but in our opinion worth it for the quality you get.

I have been to my fair share of vegetarian and vegan restaurants in the last year. However, I was blown away yesterday by the food at Marktküche in Zurich. The location is very pretty, design with class but still down to earth. The location feels very warm and cozy. The service is very pleasant and attentive. It seems like the waiters also really dig the concept and enjoy explaining the food to the customers. The wine flight we had with the menu was amazing, a lot of very good wined from Austria, Switzerland, Spain and France. The wine matched the food perfectly. The food was something different. You don't know the menu when you order. The customer just chooses how many courses he would like (4 to 8) and then you get surprised. We had the 6 course menu and every course was excellent. The variety of tastes that we got to experience was just amazing. A soup of cauliflower with truffle was my highlight. It is just astonishing how the chef is able to create this amazing fully vegan courses. Hands down the best food I ate in a very long time. Definitely worth a visit.

One of those places that makes me happy to be a vegetarian. From start to finish we had great service and food. All the food was flavorful and unique, such as a vegan tartar infused with cognac. The staff enjoyed chatting with us and helping us decide on wine and food. Highly recommended to anyone visit Zürich!

Marktküche is by far my favourite restaurant in Zurich! Since my first visit, when they had only just opened up for a few months, I've become a regular and visit Toby and his lovely team (Sandra, you're a star!) at least once a month. The mouth-watering and uniquely creative menu changes every month so they make use of local and seasonal ingredients. Toby's creations are just so so good - every plate looks like a piece of art and tastes like a masterpiece, too! :-) Go try it out, even if you're not vegan or vegetarian - you won't be disappointed, I promise. I've brought so many friends and family members here and every single one of them was very impressed with this culinary gem in the middle of Zurich.

Full points for the ambience, service and the fact that a restaurant has finally taken plant-based food seriously, and presented it with the elegance it deserves. As far as the food itself goes, all courses were very creative and beautiful. The courses were averagely tasty and did not blow our minds (yes I expected that to happen given the presentation and price point). Also, minus points for not a single protein-rich course (of 6). Dann kam der erste Gang mit einer halben mini Artischocke, welche sehr süßlich war. War keine Geschmacksbombe. Nachdem wurden wir von einer kalten süssen Melonensuppe geschmacklich überrascht. Diese habe ich bis zum letzten Tropfen auf der Zunge zergehen lassen. Was mich jedoch während diesen beiden ersten Gängen am meisten störte war der Lärm. Dieser kam von der Bar, wo die Servicemitarbeiter das Besteck vor uns in lautem Ton polierten. Zum Glück gab es zum Hauptgang den Lärm nicht mehr und man konnte sich auf diesen konzentrieren. Es gab gefüllte Teigtaschen mit kleinen Eierschwämli. Der Geschmack war eher fad. Zum Glück gab es dazu eine sehr süsse rote paprika mit SüssKartoffeln. Dies half dem Gang aufzublühen. Zum Schluss gab es eine Variation von HimbeerenSorbet und Himbeeren mit veganem Schokoladenmousse. Dieser Gang hat mir sehr gefallen da es geschmacklich unterschiedlich war. Good experience to try but I wouldn't come back. We got the six tasting menu. It started off quite strong with the food tasting unique and flavourful. The last 2-3 tasting were not put together well (one of them even included buckwheat...). I have had other vegan tasting menus, and i would say this one was my least favourite.

Absolutely divine! We had the 6 course dinner two days ago and loved every dish! You do not have to be a vegan to enjoy this place. It will satisfy the palate of everyone. Service was also top 👌🏼 and Chef Tobias was very warm and welcoming. Marktküche has landed on my list of favorite restaurants (and I’m not a vegan). Can’t wait to return!

We ordered the 5 course tasting menu option. They came with several extras, three items pre-meal, then a few palate cleansers in between courses. All items were presented artistically, on top of good taste. The cost of the ingredients certainly was much cheaper but the efforts put in to prepare the whole meal is just superb. Since we love their bread roll, the waitress just kept bringing us more.
