This is a great attraction to come at any age. It has an interesting and fascinating history (centuries of it), some great amusements (like the train, the interiors, the crystals, the "salt kitchen" and some others). I've spent 2 hours on a guided tour and wasn't bored at any time during that time. Absolutely advised for a visit. It takes about an hour to hike here from Bex, or there is a bus to bring you halfway up, or you can even get a shuttle directly here on a weekend. Depending on your schedule and physical conditions, I'd recommend a hike for almost anyone capable and able to take it.

We recommend booking online in advace and carrying a light jacket as the temp inside is about 17 degrees all year round. We loved the train ride and the movie. The kids also loved the search game handed at the reception. The only sad part is that the there is only one restaurant close to the mines and it was shut at 5pm on Sunday. There is a souvenir shop that sells some packaged snacks and nice take aways. The total trip is about 2 hours.

Very interesting visit to one of the only active mineral salt mine of Switzerland Excellent explanations in several languages, good display and well organized Visit is of some two hours but do not hesitate to visit the souvenir shop with real products of quality locally produced Welcoming and friendly

A really cool place and a must to visit if you're in the area, but be warned that the guides only speak french even though they know there are several in the group who only speak english for example. That ruined the experience because you had no idea where to go or when and people got separated and it became chaotic. The cave itself is very cool and modern in typical swiss fashion, with a lot of history and facts. The tour takes about 1 hour 45 minutes.

Since I went there... which was maybe 20 years ago... They perfected the tour. First a nice introductive movie, funny and modern. The guide was very funny too and she provided a lot of fun facts. Too bar for those not speaking French though. You can try yourself at digging the rocks, the little train is really funny. The wells are impressive. What's the most impressive I think is the fact to have a salt mine in Switzerland that is actually working and producing.

Very cool experience to go under ground and learn how you can get salt out of the rock it is mixed with. The guided tour was quite interactive and our guide knowledgeable and lovely. Interesting for children and adults - and a degustation of the local products at the end.

I visited this mine at June 25th(Sunday), 2023. This salt mine tour is awesome. You need to have extra time if you take the local bus. The bus service finishes before 5 pm. The Mine tour trains may have some mechanical problem(entering) and be derailed(coming out). I experienced two incidents. I had to stay in the packed train with many people inside the small train. It was dark. I felt it took quite a long time to repair(entering). I felt hot and uncomfortable. When I took the train to come out, my train was derailed. We, tourists, waited to repair, but it didn't succeed, so we took the train which carried the next tour team. I missed the last local bus. I had to walk to Bex station. It takes about one hour to get to the station, but we lost the way and took more. The weather was very hot, and we got soaked with sweat. If someone is really worried about in the dark and small space, you need to consider this kind of situation and decide carefully.

Lovely mine, great tour. Not cold as expected. But to be sure put one something extra that you can zip open. Cool Train ride. ✌️ Nice story in france / german and audio tour in English and some other languages.

It is quite unique experience - if you've never been to mines before, it is worth going. However, we expected something more existing - except for train in the naaaarow tunnel, the rest is quite civilized and kind'a "museum like"...

An excellent spot to visit. The guides are excellent (maybe a tad too sales driven) and the tour is absolutely great. Not the easiest place to get to in public transport (buses only run on weekends) but there is a nice walk up to the mines.

Really cool and unique experience for tourists looking to learn more about the salt industry. Staff was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. English speakers utilized an audio tour which was helpful and didn’t take away from the experience. Really enjoyed the food samples at the end of the tour.

Wonderful visit at the mines, with nice explications of mining history and salt production. If you are around its worth it to stop by.

Definitely worth a trip! Beautiful mine and very informative, super friendly staff with a nice end of tour salt tasting. Remember to reserve a place before hand, it can be quite packed. The mine train is fun, we were sitting in the outside seats, but you can ask the staff for a inside seat if you want, and they’ll try to swap it with people who want to sit outside. The public transport to the mine is a bit confusing but overall there are corresponding buses (153 I think) from the gare to the mine for every tour slot. Altho it seems like the schedule is a bit tight for the bus line, let the staff know you’ll be taking the bus and they will wait for you (the tour does not start sharply).

Truly an amazing experience, the way the salt mines are preserved and maintained and also how well managed the tours are, it was really wonderful to experience it. Close to 2hrs tour in the mountain and able to see every aspect related to how salt is extracted from the mountains is just awesome. The staff are also very friendly and at the end of the tour you get free chips and tasting of locally produced cheese. Highly suggest to visit the salt mine.

Very interesting salt mine. I love how the salt here was discovered. Apparently goats 🐐🐐 liked licking the stones in the streams, which made the shepherds wonder what's up. The train ride out of the mine is really fun.

Great experience and such a reflection of the efforts and work behind the salt we use I. Our lives was very enlightening

Good experience, though might not recommend unless you understand French well. Many samplings of products offered which was much appreciated and added good value. The starting movie video was very well done!
